"As news spread of Serbas, the hero of peace, I myself became a believer in peace between humans and demons," Vlad continued, his voice heavy. "That was until the demons and humans who still held grudges against each other saw Serbas as a threat to their own agendas. Both sides, those who desired war and wished to remain in power, chose to change history by destroying the person known as a peacemaker: Serbas."
"Rumors began spreading about the hero who pretended to fight for peace but was actually raping and killing women when no one was around. Serbas's name was thrown in the mud as more fabricated stories claimed he was manipulating and controlling human kings like puppets. This caused fear among the human world. Demons appeared, presenting women and children killed by Serbas, showing signs of torture for his enjoyment. Serbas was framed by both humans and demons. Of course, many defended his name, fighting off the rumors, but slowly these people were silenced.
Demons and humans who defended Serbas were targeted and killed. People became fearful of even mentioning Serbas as a hero."
"Serbas, slowly seeing humans turn against him, tried to arrange a meeting to clear his name and seek an audience with both demon and human kings. While Serbas was away at this meeting, the people in power enacted a devious plan. They didn't want to assassinate Serbas's family themselves; they wanted the people to do it. The rumors spread, framing not just Serbas, but his family as well, portraying his wife and children as evil creatures killing infants to survive, eating babies to satisfy their demon blood. People grew impatient, reading news about Serbas and his family's supposed deeds. Some kidnapped children were purposely killed and publicly displayed, blamed on Serbas's family. Families of victims cried out for Serbas's wife and children's heads. Everyone attacked Serbas's house, dragging his wife and children to the middle of the town. The king announced that their bodies would be tied up in the town square for three days. Everyone could do as they pleased before the three days were up. On the final day, they would be executed."
"The announcement sent shockwaves, and many more victimized families, both human and demon, rushed to hurt Serbas's family. Serbas was blocked from information, told to meet and talk about a peace treaty. Serbas's wife and children were tortured, raped, and brutally sliced apart. As Serbas discussed the treaty about humans and demons, he was questioned by both sides. Accusations were made against him. He tried to defend himself, only to be met with remarks of being a liar as 'evidence' was presented during the meeting. They didn't sign the peace treaty and ordered Serbas to return home." Vlad paused, visibly feeling Serbas's pain.
"Serbas was met with the heads of his wife and children displayed in the town square. Their bodies were cut to pieces, spread on the floor. Serbas was torn apart inside as everyone around mocked and laughed at him. That was the turning point, the tragedy that changed Serbas forever. He wanted revenge, however, he wasn't strong enough. He went missing that day, only to return to the demon world. Serbas came back holding the artifact: the Hands of Death. That artifact is able to bring the dead back to life, but in return, it needs to collect a huge amount of souls."
"He killed demons and devoured them as he took his revenge in a single night. Most of the kings and queens for both humans and demons were killed and devoured by Serbas. Serbas hunted down every single culprit and those involved in killing his family. Both humans and demons now feared Serbas's vengeance, unable to stop the imminent threat. Serbas became the most powerful demon ever to exist, killing off anyone in his way."
"As he collected enough souls using the Hands of Death, he went to resurrect his wife and children. However, those remaining wanted him gone, and I was also among them, knowing about their plan of sealing him away. As I searched for him personally to warn him, I found him at the grave of his wife and child. He was about to perform the ritual of bringing them back to life as I got closer, telling him that they were trapping him there. I managed to grab onto him, trying to pull him away. However, he continued his ritual regardless. As he hit the artifact on the ground, the souls he collected were taken by a spell cast by the demons and humans, meant to seal not just Serbas, but also me and the grave of Serbas's wife and two children." Vlad looked at Adam and Lyra.
"The place you entered was where his seal was transported to. They exiled his existence, sending both of us to this world, sealing him and his family underground here. I wasn't bound by the spell, as my name wasn't written to be sealed. So I was able to get out of that place while Serbas remains there to this day."
