In the outskirts of Jia Nan Academy, deep within the Magical Beast Forest, Xiao Yi Xian crouched cautiously behind a pile of jagged rocks. Her eyes darted around, scanning the surroundings before locking onto a rare poisonous herb beneath a nearby cliff—the Crimson Spirit Mushroom. Her gaze practically screamed one word: Want.
This herb, laced with potent toxins and hallucinogenic properties, was a key ingredient in a formula from the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture. Such herbs were scarce outside, but here, near Jia Nan Academy, where demand for toxic plants was low, it thrived untouched.
Perched on a sturdy branch of a nearby tree, Xiao Bai sat, engrossed in a book borrowed from the academy's library. He appeared oblivious to the scene below, but the occasional sly smirk tugging at his lips betrayed his keen awareness of Xiao Yi Xian's actions.
Since their clan gathering, he'd decided Xiao Yi Xian needed real combat experience. She's too kind-hearted, never fought seriously. Her Calamity Poison Body had propelled her cultivation at a breakneck pace, but her control lagged behind. Without practice, her power was hollow, unable to reach its full potential.
She needed tempering, or she'd flounder in a real fight. In the original story, she'd gone to the Chu Yun Empire, rising to become the Poison Sect's leader. Though details were sparse, her journey from a small-town girl in Qing Shan Town to a sect master in a land teeming with poison masters must have been grueling, even with her unique physique.
Lost in thought, Xiao Bai snapped back as Xiao Yi Xian, after waiting silently, emerged from her hiding spot and approached the crimson herb.
Just as she drew near, a chill ran through her. Her steps faltered, brows knitting together, and she spun around to flee.
"Hiss!"
The moment she turned, a slender black shadow shot out from beneath the rocks near the herb, striking like lightning toward her back.
Sensing the whoosh of air behind her, Xiao Yi Xian's eyes flashed with panic but quickly steadied. Her Calamity Poison Body heightened her senses, and the encroaching chill made her hair stand on end.
Instinctively, she deployed a high-level Xuan Class movement technique taught by Xun Er—Moonshadow Wave Step. She dodged the attack by a hair's breadth, her movements clumsy yet graceful, her ethereal aura making her seem like a fairy gliding over moonlit waves.
Her socks barely touch the dust, treading lightly on water beneath the moon!
Having evaded the ambush, Xiao Yi Xian finally glimpsed her attacker: a sleek, jet-black creature with a triangular head, blending seamlessly into the shadowed grass. Had she not been focused, she might've missed it.
Her eyes traced the slender form. Taking a sharp breath, she muttered, "Tier 2 magical beast, Shadow Viper!"
Xiao Bai, watching from the tree, rolled his eyes. Is she putting on a show? The Shadow Viper was tricky for other Dou Shi due to its small size, stealthy aura, and swift strikes, armed with potent venom that could trouble even a Da Dou Shi. But for her, with the Calamity Poison Body, such venom was mere nourishment. Yet here she was, gasping dramatically. The ancestors of the Calamity Poison Body must be clawing at their coffin lids!
She needs serious training, Xiao Bai resolved. Can't let her stay cooped up, mixing poisons and swallowing them, turning into a combat-less recluse. Otherwise, the fearsome Sky Poison Girl who shook the Chu Yun Empire would become a homebound poison nerd under his watch.
Thus, with Xiao Bai's "ruthless" resolve, Xiao Yi Xian faced her toughest days yet. Each day, he drove various Tier 2 magical beasts her way, forcing her to confront them.
Since reaching Dou Zhe, her only "fight" had been against Yao, the shopkeeper of Wan Yao Zhai in Qing Shan Town, and that barely counted—she'd merely coated a door with poison and waited. Meeting Xiao Bai afterward meant she'd never had a proper battle, even after her breakthroughs.
At first, she struggled against the Tier 2 beasts, emerging battered and bruised, sometimes teetering on the edge of danger. But her combat talent shone through. Gradually, she adapted, learning to counter each beast's traits—whether thick-skinned brutes or agile predators.

One evening, Xiao Yi Xian dragged her weary, slightly scarred body back to their makeshift camp.
"You're back! Hungry? Dinner's almost ready!" Xiao Bai, tending a roasting beast leg over a campfire, greeted her with enthusiasm, his face full of concern.
Xiao Yi Xian's beautiful eyes rolled with a playful huff. This guy's a different person at night. By day, he was a relentless taskmaster, pushing her to her limits. But here, he was her doting Xiao Bai, attentive and indulgent, granting her every request.
"Come, sit. Your husband will heal those wounds!" Ignoring her reaction, he took her hand, led her to the fire, and began using Xiao Yi's green light to treat her injuries.
Exhausted, Xiao Yi Xian let him guide her to sit. Noticing the green glow from his fingers, her cheeks flushed slightly.
"Mmph…"
As his fingers touched her wounds, a soft, enticing moan escaped her lips. The green aura, soothing yet ticklish, sent tingles through her nerves. She tried to stifle the embarrassing sound but couldn't.
Blushing, she was less shy than the first few days. Initially, she'd thought he was teasing her, but the healing was swift and flawless, leaving no scars. I misjudged him.
Catching the mischievous glint in his eyes, Xiao Yi Xian pouted, half-annoyed. "Unserious!"
"I'm healing you! How's that unserious? You're a physician—don't slander a good man!" Xiao Bai protested, feigning grievance as he continued treating her wounds.
"Nothing about you is serious—not you, not your lightning!" she retorted, her lips curling slightly as she caught his playful expression.
"No helping it. Serious or not, you're stuck with me for life!" Finishing her arm, Xiao Bai lifted her slender legs onto his lap, tending to the wounds there.
Xiao Yi Xian's gaze softened, watching his handsome face, earnest in the firelight. Warmth bloomed in her heart. She reached out, gently tucking a stray lock of white hair behind his ear, and smiled tenderly. "If this is being stuck, then Xian Er's happy to be trapped."
