Lin Fan sat cross-legged, immersed in contemplation, exploring the myriad powers of his singular Heavenly Passage.
He had also cultivated a domain, distinct from that of the milk baby. His black-and-white passage could erode runes and treasures alike, while retaining the Supreme Bone's healing abilities, its transformations boundless and profound.
This is no mere Heavenly Passage, he thought. In the future, it might evolve into an entire world.
From life's genesis, it could cleave the heavens and earth, birthing all things. At its end, it would govern the death of all beings, orchestrating an orderly cycle that sparked new life anew.
It's time to descend to the Lower Realm and reclaim the Supreme Lineage's inheritance, Lin Fan resolved.
Over the past half-month, he had not only stabilized his realm but also advanced to the Spirit Transformation Realm. Now, he could freely leave this place and venture into the outside world.
Three years!
Trapped in one place for three years, over a thousand days and nights. At nine years old, the boy who yearned to soar felt caged, his wings clipped.
Yet, the time hadn't been fruitless. The treatment he received was impeccable, especially under a certain someone's care. Compared to Yue Chan, the sect's saintess, he was treated more like a true successor.
That sour old man Qi Dao Lin can't compare, he mused. Following him meant sipping the northwest wind and mooching off the neighbor's Divine Lotus Pond.
Not that his resolve was lacking—who would choose a life of hardship over comfort?
Alas, I'm sinking deeper into the Heaven Mending Sect… Lin Fan murmured. Fine. Retrieving the Supreme Lineage's inheritance will repay the old man's kindness.
Besides, a second chance at youth was rare, and he cherished it deeply. He wanted to live freely in this world, indulging in the life of a young noble.
A resplendent palace, surrounded by beautiful maids, with guardians paving his way. Whoever crossed him, he'd cross right back, unrestrained and carefree.
And in the end, a harem of wives and concubines—not for love, but for pleasure.
Lin Fan sighed softly, reining in his thoughts, and strode toward the bamboo hut.
"Beautiful Sister, I've heard that the Lower Realm's incomplete laws aid in comprehending the Dao. I'd like to travel there for a journey."
"The Lower Realm?" Qing Yao hesitated briefly before tossing him a storage pouch. "Very well. The cultivators there aren't too powerful, so it shouldn't be too dangerous. Still, be cautious."
"Got it!" Lin Fan beamed, glancing at the pouch's contents. It brimmed with life-saving treasures. She really cares about me.
"Take these two drops of Phoenix Blood to Yue Chan—one for her primary body, one for her secondary," Qing Yao added, sending two jade vials from the hut.
Lin Fan nodded, took the vials, and headed out of the pure land. This was his first real chance to explore the Heaven Mending Sect.
Last time, he'd barely seen anything before being whisked away.
The Heaven Mending Sect was vast, built amidst a mountain range teeming with spiritual energy. Its main peak pierced the clouds, shrouded in ethereal mist.
Here, the spiritual energy was so dense it refused to dissipate, forming fine mist that drifted through the air—a true holy land for cultivation.
Ancient trees towered, their canopies brushing the sky. Palaces dotted the landscape, stretching endlessly, as if a great dragon lay coiled here, swallowing the radiance of sun, moon, and stars.
Lin Fan marveled. The mountain range spanned hundreds of thousands of miles. Traveling to some peaks would take days at his speed.
Fortunately, Yue Chan, as a successor, lived nearby. Her abode was close to the main peak, and within an hour, he flew to her residence.
"Tch, tch, tch. Yue Chan sure knows how to live," Lin Fan remarked, gazing down. "A divine-grade formation, sprawling palaces, and plenty of maids."
He landed on a platform atop the mountain. Immediately, a maid approached, about fifteen or sixteen, graceful and captivating—a beauty who could topple kingdoms in the mortal world.
"Young sir, may I ask your purpose for visiting Saintess Peak?" the maid asked, neither servile nor arrogant, her eyes brimming with confidence.
As a maid to the sect's saintess, her status surpassed many ordinary disciples, with enviable privilege and benefits.
"I'm here to see your saintess," Lin Fan said casually, his eyes wandering the surroundings.
This sparked the maid's displeasure. Assuming he was another of Yue Chan's fervent admirers, she advised, "Please refrain from looking around, young sir. The saintess's peak isn't open for casual visits. She's currently in seclusion, but I can relay a message if you have business."
Lin Fan blinked, mildly amused. Am I being looked down on?
He didn't take offense, though. Instead, he produced his identity token—a plaque forged from divine metal, imbued with a profound charm and inscribed with formations that could bypass most of the sect's restrictions. It had been personally bestowed by the sect leader.
It also signified his lofty status within the sect, far surpassing the tokens of ordinary disciples.
"This is… a successor's token, the same as the saintess's!" The maid's eyes widened, her fair face flushing with shock, all traces of disdain replaced by reverence.
She didn't dare question its authenticity. The sect's tokens bore unique marks, only manifesting for their true owner.
Rumors had long circulated of a hidden prodigy in the sect—surely, this was him.
The maid hurriedly bowed, her tone respectful. "Greetings, Your Highness!"
"No need for formalities. Just call me 'sir,' but skip the 'young' part," Lin Fan said warmly, without airs.
"Yes, sir," the maid replied, relieved he wasn't offended.
"Take me to your saintess," Lin Fan instructed. "Her master asked me to deliver something."
"Of course, sir. This way, please."
The maid led the way, and Lin Fan took in the scenery, envy creeping in. He asked a few questions.
"Does every disciple get their own spiritual peak?"
"No, only elders and successors are granted personal domains. Others share cultivation sites, sometimes with dozens together. The closer to the main peak, the denser the spiritual energy, the better for cultivation…"
The maid explained patiently, noting his apparent ignorance and elaborating clearly.
I should get my own domain, Lin Fan muttered.
Qing Yao's pure land was exceptional—second only to the sect leader's main peak—but it was too quiet. Just the two of them in that vast expanse felt dull.
"We've arrived. The saintess is inside. Please enter, sir."
Lin Fan waved her off and stepped into the hall. Yue Chan, sensing his arrival, had already ended her meditation.
"Well, look who's out and about!" Yue Chan exclaimed, clad in a flowing white dress, poised and elegant.
"Broke through to the Spirit Transformation Realm and lifted the restrictions," Lin Fan said with a smirk, plopping down unceremoniously. He grabbed a spiritual fruit and tea from the table, making himself at home.
Yue Chan didn't mind. They were close enough that she'd done the same at his place.
"You just got out. You haven't explored the sect yet, right? How about I show you around and introduce you to some senior brothers and sisters?" Yue Chan suggested, resting her chin on her fair hand, eager to play guide.
"Maybe later. I've got business," Lin Fan replied, tossing her a jade vial. "Beautiful Sister asked me to give you this."
"What's this? She's giving me something?" Yue Chan asked skeptically, unconvinced. That woman barely acknowledges me as her disciple.
"Don't say that. Beautiful Sister's really kind," Lin Fan defended.
"Tch, she's only kind to you. Most of the younger generation don't even know she exists," Yue Chan scoffed, opening the vial.
Instantly, a radiant, multicolored essence burst forth, its life force so potent it stirred the body's cells, urging absorption.
"What kind of blood is this? Its energy is immense! It resonates with my True Phoenix Technique, even clarifying runes I couldn't grasp!" Yue Chan gasped, staring at the blood-red gem-like drop in the vial.
For a moment, it felt alive, like a tiny phoenix poised to soar, restrained only by the vial's seal.
"True Phoenix Blood!"
