Chapter 206 - Splitting Up — Catching a Big Fish?!

Luke walked toward the Inner Zone, wearing a white lab coat and holding a black board in his hands.

Behind him were Iron Mentor and Trick*Step.

While Iwao was still in his guard uniform, Kazuho had changed her Maintenance staff uniform, becoming a nurse.

"Doctor?!" the guard at one of the entrances to the Inner Zone asked.

Luke smiled. "Routine checkup," he said, handing over an ID card. "I heard a prisoner is having episodes of insomnia and psychotic outbursts. What was his name again…"

Luke looked over his shoulder, asking the nurse.

Kazuho gulped. "… Sam… Samuel Abraham, Doctor," she replied. "Block… Block…"

Luke frowned. "Didn't I tell you to write it down?!" he snapped, making the girl wince. "This is the third time! Pack your things and leave first thing in the morning!! Bloody idiots!!!"

Iwao maintained a flat look on his face, his entire focus resting on the guard verifying Luke's ID Card.

A sudden feeling of pity welled up in the guard's heart, taking his mind off the ID Card verification. As soon as the two serial numbers matched, he came back and handed over the card to the Doctor.

"What's the use of waking me up?!" Luke kept rebuking, uncaring of the guard in front of him. His face had gone red in anger. "Now I will have to go back…"

"Wait, Doctor," the guard said, seeing the nurse crying. "What's the name of the prisoner again?"

Luke frowned at the nurse and looked ahead. "Samuel Abraham."

The guard hurriedly went to the office and returned in a few seconds. "He's in the F-Block, Doctor. Just take the right and then the third left. 3rd Cell."

Luke suddenly smiled. "… Much appreciated," he said. "Some people are just not cut out for well-paying jobs, I guess."

The guard wanted to say something, knowing well that the Doctor would make things even more difficult for the nurse, but held back his tongue. It wasn't his position to meddle in this, especially when he was just a guard.

So, as he saw the Doctor, Nurse, and the Guard disappearing behind the entrance, he shared a look with his fellow guard, both sighing.

The moment the trio entered the main structure, comprising many blocks running between the Boundary Wall of the Inner Zone and the Central Tower, they stopped.

It was already quite late in the night. Still, there was a heavy presence of armed guards, with tons of CCTV cameras monitoring all corners.

But they wouldn't be the most serious hurdle for them.

It would be the Quirk Suppression Drug and Spatial Barrier.

All the rifles the guards carried didn't have any bullets, but syringes filled with Quirk Suppression Drug. Even if this wasn't an issue for the three Beyonders, Luke still had a Quirk — without which they couldn't escape this facility with Sam.

Speaking of escape, the moment he activated Descorrer, the entire facility would go into lockdown, the Spatial Barrier canceling all space-based Quirks.

So, if they stood any chance of vanishing from the Detention Center unscathed, they needed to neutralize the Spatial Barrier first.

Spatial Barrier… which was a giant machine housed under the Central Tower.

"It's time to split up," Dr. Blessed said, Iwao and Kazuho following closely behind him. "By now, if there's a smart one among the top echelons, then they must know about an intruder. Our only advantage right now is that there are three of us.

"Time is against us, though. The sooner we leave, the better. One of you must deactivate the Spatial Barrier while I go to Sam. And the remaining one… must distract the authorities by coming out in the open."

Iwao and Kazuho's pupils shook.

"We cannot afford someone losing patience and deciding to just go ahead with locking down the entire facility," Dr. Blessed explained. "The best way to do that is to make them chase after the intruder… An intruder that they believe they can catch without any lockdown."

Iron Mentor licked his lips.

It was clear which job carried the most risk.

Who knew how much time it would take to shut down the Spatial Barrier? For how long till the intruder must run, then — with hundreds of guards and cameras on it?!

"I will…" Iwao began.

Kazuho was faster. "I will do it," she said, balling her fingers into fists. "… That's what I am good at… I must be good at…"

Iwao opened his mouth to counter, but stopped.

Despite what he thought, even he knew between Swindler and Trickmaster, who stood the best chance of evading the guards and cameras.

Considering the matter finalized, Dr. Blessed nodded. "We all have comms," he said, stopping and turning around. "The moment you shut down Spatial Barrier, ping me. I will use Descorrer successively and get us out of here."

Iwao nodded.

Kazuho nodded as well.

"Alright," Luke suddenly smiled. "Let's split up, then. And… trust your Instincts. A Beyonder is more than the abilities it possesses."

With that said, the three rushed in different directions.

In the Control Room of the Central Tower, Leya was still roaming around from system to system, trying to find an oddity.

Suddenly, one of the operators called her out. "Ma'am!"

Alarmed, Leya rushed to the operator, who was pointing at one of the panels on the large monitor.

It showed a nurse… who kept looking around every next step.

A beautiful smile bloomed on Leya's lips. "Where?" she asked.

"C-Block," the operator answered. "Should I commence the lockdown procedure…"

"No," Leya rejected, her smile becoming a grin. "Keep monitoring her and alert the guards."

"But, Ma'am…"

"Do it."

Leya's command didn't leave any leeway, making the operator accept the order, already contacting all the guards of the Inner Zone.

Meanwhile, Leya kept looking at the nurse, barely holding back her laugh.

Lockdown was the best choice to make in this scenario, she knew.

So, that's why Alex ordered to play along, she thought, remembering Warden's words. To secretly infiltrate the Inner Zone…

… just how big the fish we caught this time?!
