Chapter 1 - Valmor Bush

In a deep bush of Valmor, where no noble rode and no soldier wandered. A young boy about 15 years of age named Wales trained alone. Wales was tall for his age, and he had a bronze skin colour. His hair was wild, thick, and curly black. He has strange blue-green eyes that add to his unusual beauty. The boy was beautiful.

The afternoon sun shines on Wales, as he bends the fire under his will. He is shirtless and barefoot with sweat streaking down his chest. He hurled the fire under his control at the log of wood on the floor.

BOOM! The log split in half, charred and steaming.

He wasn't being careful anymore. Five groups of young trainees, about the same age as Wales, heard the sounds made by Wales, and they froze.

"What was that?" whispered Cami, eyes wide. Her long black hair was tied in a tight braid, and her hands held her bows and arrows tightly.

"Thunder?" guessed Maya, frowning. Her fingers twitched slightly, instinctively sensing the air currents. "No… that wasn't thunder."

"Whatever it is, it's not part of our training route," said Ren, the tall, smug one with a flame-red sash. "We should report it.

But Ford—sharp-eyed, always curious—cocked his head. "No. Let's check it out."

The group turned to him.

"What? Why?" Cami asked. She as no good feeling about the sound.

Ford smirked. "Because we're not here to chase leaves. That was elemental power. Strong. And not regulated. Could be a rogue training without permission—or worse, someone in trouble."

The smallest of the group, Tayo, hesitated. "You think it's safe?"

"No," Ford said simply. "But we'll stay low. Just a peek."

He was already moving.

Reluctantly, the others followed, weaving through thick underbrush and ducking beneath low branches.

They walked in silently for a few minutes before they finally got to where the sound came from. And there was a shirtless, barefoot boy about their age. Fire hooved around his palm as he conjured it, though it was obvious he was still learning to conjure it, but he is still far better than Ford, who is also a fire elementalist.

Ford was fascinated by the display of elemental power by the boy, and curiously he started moving forward unknowingly. With a twist of Wales' hand the fire in Wales hand hurled at the tree close to where Ford stood.

WHOOMPF

"FORD!" Maya shouted in fear.

Ford stood there paralysed with fear, but before the heat from the fire could reach him, and hand touch and dragged him back saving his live. It was Flameworth their teacher who lead them here for the training.

"Reckless as alway, Ford" Flameworth barked "You learn nothing from me obviously"

He turned then, facing the center of the clearing. Wales was still standing, shoulders tense, his breath quick and shallow. His hands trembled faintly, not from weakness—but from fear.

"Who are you?" Flameworth asked, voice suddenly cold and quiet. "That fire… isn't ordinary. That was pure convergence. Where did you learn to wield it like that?"

Wales took a step back in fear, but before she could speak a figure dart to shield the boy with an unimaginable speed, it was obvious she is using her wind element, which is the fastest element.

"Please, master. It was an accident. He meant no harm," she said, head bowed low. "He's just a boy. My son. He doesn't know the rules. We were only training—secretly, yes—but not to cause trouble. I beg you… let us go."

Flameworth said nothing at first. His eyes lingered on Marie, then rose slowly to Wales.

"You've been hiding him obvious, but from who?" Asked Flameworth. Marie stayed silent. "You can go" he finally said after staring at them for sometime.

Flameworth stepped aside for them to pass, but as mother and son walked away through the burned trees, his eyes never left them.

He took a deep breath. Every fire he conjured took a toll on him, but he couldn't stop yet. His mother told him to keep repeating the methods till she came back. He gritted his teeth and summoned another blaze, throwing at another log of wood.

BOOM! The sound echoes throughout the forest.
