Thanos was stunned for only a moment before he attacked without hesitation!
The Power Stone lit up, purple energy wrapping around his fist as he swung it forward with tremendous force.
At the same time, he suddenly noticed Doctor Strange—who was wielding five Stones and should have been far stronger than him—wearing an expression of sheer horror.
Thanos was puzzled, but he didn't stop his attack.
And then, he immediately understood why.
When the fist with the Infinity Gauntlet and five Infinity Stones was thrust forward, just ten centimeters from his opponent, it was as if it had entered an invisible field of destruction.
A terrifying scene unfolded!
As his fist pushed further, the Gauntlet—capable of channeling the power of the Stones—along with the Titan's flesh and blood, renowned for their resilience, were completely annihilated. Not even ashes remained.
And that wasn't the end!
Before the shocked eyes of Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic, Captain Marvel, and the other Illuminati members, the five Infinity Stones themselves lost their brilliance and crumbled into white powder.
"Ahhh!!!"
It was impossible to tell whether Thanos' scream was from pain or fear. He twisted violently, stumbling backward until he was tripped by scattered wreckage from a ship and fell several meters away.
His purple face turned pale. He couldn't comprehend what kind of power he had just encountered!
At that moment, Doctor Strange descended rapidly from the air.
Thanos thought the sorcerer would seize this chance to end his life.
But the very next second, his pupils shrank in shock.
Strange landed in front of the man who had stepped out of the space vortex. With a respectful expression, he bowed humbly.
This scene left Black Bolt and the others stunned.
Doctor Strange—the proudest and most arrogant member of the Illuminati—was acting like a completely different person!
Had the power of the Darkhold already corroded his mind?
At this time, Strange spoke respectfully:
"Supreme One, I welcome you on behalf of the true dimension of Kamar-Taj."
Supreme…
When that title left his lips, Thanos looked confused, but the others immediately turned pale.
The battle Strange referred to had taken place on a higher plane of existence—one that could only be perceived by sorcerers, or beings with immense spiritual power like the Aesir and the Sorcerer Supreme.
Although they hadn't seen it themselves, Strange had explained the war across the multiverse from beginning to end.
This figure had never joined the Illuminati, so Strange continued to address him simply as Supreme.
Captain Marvel felt her scalp tingle.
How had such an existence entered the true dimension? Strange had said it was impossible, that the barriers of Kamar-Taj would prevent it.
No wonder this being could annihilate the Infinity Stones. Based on the power shown in that higher battle, a mere glance might be enough to kill everyone present.
Mister Fantastic's eyes were filled with worry.
Even if Strange insisted that this being fought against the ancient god Chthon and leaned toward good, it was safer not to rely on that.
A sneeze from someone like this could mean an unstoppable disaster for Earth.
"Should we go over and pay our respects?" Captain Carter whispered through the comms.
"No. I'm not here for you."
A faint voice echoed, sending chills down the spines of everyone present.
Russell glanced at Strange, who was visibly tense, and gave a slight nod.
"Just in time. Otherwise, I would've had to reverse time if you'd died. It's simple enough, but that guy—Chthon—would probably notice your situation."
Reverse time…
Strange's hair stood on end. This being spoke of something so terrifying as if it were nothing!
But then—
"You're… looking for me?" Strange asked uncertainly. How could someone like him, a mere speck in comparison, have drawn the attention of such a figure?
It was obvious this being had crossed both timeline and dimension to arrive here.
Panic set in. Death itself was not frightening, but in the hands of entities like this, there were fates far worse than death.
Russell nodded. But before he could speak, his expression shifted—he frowned and glanced at Thanos.
Strange turned, confused… and then his eyes widened in shock.
Thanos was dead.
He sat there silently, lifeless, his face still frozen in puzzlement.
At first, Strange assumed the Supreme One before him had done it. But recalling his expression just moments ago, Strange realized that wasn't the case.
So who killed Thanos?
He was baffled.
Russell was also puzzled—though unlike Strange, he had an idea of who had done it. He just couldn't understand why Thanos had been summoned by Death herself.
But there was no time to dwell on it. The plan came first.
Russell pried open the fabric of space with his mind, pulling Strange with him. In an instant, the two returned to Earth.
The sudden shift almost caused Strange to collapse. When he steadied himself and looked up, he found they were standing before a temple.
His breath caught—he recognized the markings immediately.
They were the same symbols as those on the cover of the Darkhold.
This was the Temple of the Scarlet Witch.
Not just in the Sacred Timeline, but across all realities where Wanda had awakened her Chaos Magic, this temple existed.
This… was Chthon's plan.
Strange examined the murals, trying to understand why the Supreme One had brought him here.
And then—
A low, rough, yet familiar voice sounded behind him:
"Haha… Stephen Strange. We meet again."
The playful tone sent a jolt through Strange's chest.
His pupils shrank. He spun around—
And saw the face he would never forget.
"Dormammu!!!"
