Stepping out of the light door, the surrounding environment remained shrouded in darkness.
The damp, muggy air carried a foul stench of decaying organic matter mixed with sulfur, forcing everyone to hold their breath.
The entire space resembled a forgotten underground cavern, with dark red mineral crystals condensing on the rocky walls. These crystals emitted an eerie glow under the faint light.
"What a massive giant!"
Xie Xie suddenly tugged on Tang Wulin's sleeve, his voice low but unable to hide his astonishment.
Following his gaze, a colossal figure lay curled up deep within the cave—a towering two-headed giant standing eight meters tall. Its slate-gray rock-like skin was covered in cracks resembling molten lava.
The two heads were earth-brown and crimson-red, respectively, alternately exhaling fiery sparks with each snore.
"Is it a variant/mutant Stone Golem or Cyclop soul beast?" Tang Wulin quickly sifted through his mental encyclopedia of soul beasts. "Based on Gu La's attributes, it should be the former."
"Correct—it's a soul beast that evolved from Stone Golems."
Gu La's voice carried a rare excitement as he stared at the sleeping giant, a dangerous curve forming on his lips. "Just watch. I'll see what it's capable of."
When dealing with soul beasts of low intelligence, Gu La always preferred the most direct approach—crushing their pride with overwhelming force. He stepped forward half a step with his right foot, causing the entire cave to tremble violently.
"Big guy, time to wake up."
Desolate Land!
As the ability activated, blinding golden light poured down like liquid sunlight. The hovering orb of light in the air resembled a miniature sun. The previously damp rock walls instantly steamed with white mist, and the temperature inside the cave soared to terrifying levels.
"Roar—!"
The earth-attribute head woke first, its rocky face riddled with crystallized minerals. As it clumsily pushed itself up, the entire ground shook.
The other crimson head soon opened its molten-lava-like eyes, letting out a sulfur-scented yawn. Sparks erupted from between its teeth, landing on its knee and burning several blackened craters into its flesh.
Gu La's eyebrow twitched. Though he knew that giant-type soul beasts inherited diluted Titan bloodlines, leading to their grotesque appearances, this scruffy monster still exceeded his expectations.
Decomposing organic matter clung to its left shoulder, while a tar-like black substance coated its right foot. With every movement, it emitted a nauseating acidic stench.
"Big guy, I hope you can surprise me."
Holding his breath, Gu La condensed a walnut-sized, earth-yellow light point at his fingertips. This seemingly unremarkable energy ball contained terrifying gravitational compression—a greeting gift for this filthy opponent.
The two-headed giant finally noticed the "insect" at its feet. The earth-brown head tilted in confusion, then abruptly lifted its right foot without warning. The filthy sole descended with a gust of fetid wind, casting a shadow over Gu La's entire body.
"Tsk! Why make it so realistic!"
Seeing the suspicious black substance stuck to the sole, Gu La forcibly retracted the punch he had been about to unleash.
Instead, he pressed his palm downward forcefully, causing dozens of sharp rock spikes to erupt from the ground. These spikes, gleaming with crystalline luster, were arranged in a staircase pattern, each one precisely aimed at the giant's foot.
"Shlick—"
A teeth-grinding piercing sound echoed through the cave. Both heads of the two-headed giant let out ear-splitting howls as it staggered backward. Dark red gelatinous blood dripped from the spikes.
The blood sizzled corrosively upon hitting the ground, releasing foul-smelling white smoke.
"Ah! Ah!"
The two heads alternately cried out in pain. When all four eyes locked onto Gu La, they were filled with uncontrollable rage.
Gu La frowned. The giant's reaction to injury was too primal, relying entirely on instinct rather than combat intelligence.
He swung his right hand in a semicircle, and the blood-soaked spikes suddenly softened and reformed, transforming into a rock golem equal in height to the two-headed giant within moments.
This golem, composed of pure earth elements, glowed with amber-colored patterns. Each joint reflected Gu La's personal understanding of large-scale mecha design.
Xie Xie sucked in a sharp breath. "What is this? An elemental puppet?"
"No, it's a more advanced form of mimicry control."
Tang Wulin's Purple Extreme Demon Eye captured hundreds of soul power threads extending from Gu La.
"He has elevated his perception of earth elements to a microscopic level, indirectly controlling the nodes with his own muscles and mental strength. However, it demands immense mental focus and likely can't be used in battles against opponents of the same level."
Before his words faded, the two giants collided with a thunderous crash.
The rock golem's right fist suddenly morphed into a drill shape upon contact, and the high-speed rotating rock cone pierced straight through the two-headed giant's left shoulder.
But Gu La quickly noticed a drawback. This precise control required continuous mental output, and the counterforce caused the puppet's movements to lag by 0.3 seconds.
Seizing the opportunity, the two-headed giant grabbed the puppet's left leg, molten lava erupting from its palm. Surprisingly, the lava's trajectory twisted upon contact with the puppet's surface, instead wrapping around it to form a fiery armor.
Gu La sneered. Manipulating lava in front of him? Only the Fire God could pull that off!
After repeated setbacks, the two-headed giant suddenly ceased its attacks. Both heads roared toward the sky, and blinding red light erupted from the cracks in its rocky skin.
An ancient roar echoed through the cave as its body swelled like an inflating balloon to twelve meters tall. Boiling magma armor covered its skin, and most astonishingly, its rocky skin faintly revealed a bronze-colored silhouette.
Titan Form!
Leng Yaozhu's recommendation of the variant two-headed giant to Gu La stemmed from its dual attributes combining to temporarily awaken the dormant Titan bloodline within it.
Its size briefly increased, proportionally boosting its physical attributes.
"Finally showing your true abilities." Gu La wasn't alarmed but delighted. Clapping his hands together forcefully, the rock golem mirrored his movement. The floating rocks exploded violently, blocking the giant while perfectly synchronizing with Gu La's actions.
He observed the giant, roughly deducing the principle behind its soul skill, feeling astonished.
Gu La entered a state of mind-body unity, swinging his fist sharply. "You can step down now."
"Boom—"
The rock golem's fist struck the giant, channeling mental power into the attack. The giant's tiny brain possessed little mental strength, and its two heads couldn't save it.
The giant collapsed with a thunderous crash, dissolving into points of light.
A mechanical voice rang out, but Gu La immediately rejected it. He had no interest in the diluted Titan bloodline of the variant giant. However, he took all the immortal herbs, leaving the possibility open for Yuanen Yehui to attempt taking it in the future if she wished.
