Chapter 99 - Clingy bitch!

CHIARA

I stopped tapping on the laptop and checked my phone for the nth time. The man hadn't returned for a whole day and hadn't contacted me the next day either. Where the hell was he? Was he caught up with work in Milan? "Ugh!" I screamed. Maybe I shouldn't have made that bet with his mother.

I was in his study, switching screens between the social media and the queue of emails. My art exhibition was a hit. The news of it was all over social media. I was tagged in Instagram and TikTok posts and reels, because those were the only social media apps I was using.

Almost all items were bought. I couldn't stop smiling whenever I checked the zeros on my business account. I needed to sort out the salaries plus bonuses real soon.

My phone rang but of course, it wasn't the one I've been waiting for. "Xander," I uttered, getting up and heading to the kitchen. My headache needed some coffee. "Good news." He stated. "Shoot." I said, pouring the coffee powder in the coffee maker and water. The sound of the machine filled the kitchen.

"It's done. Just open the news channel now." He said. I left the kitchen and sprinted to the living room with my coffee cup. "Xander you moron! You were supposed to inform me an hour ago." I reached for the remote and pressed the channel.

And there he was. Enzo was caught. He was fucking finally caught by the feds! When I handed him the items months ago, I was planting a trap for him and it's safe to say he was fool enough to fall right into it. I was the one who went to rob the items, but Xander and I made it look like he was the one who sent his man.

And when the feds went to raid his house, the evidence was found. He was caught for stealing the most sensitive secrets that could've endangered the peace of the whole country. And then we made sure to pile up a lot of shit on him. Like the number of children, he was going to traffic and other things. His business was known by almost everyone in Milan, it's just that his time was up. Even the people that were backing him up pulled back and now he was on his own. The crimes that he committed were punishable by death. And so, Enzo Russo was sentenced to death for all his crimes.

I was happy. So fucking happy. "I reported the girls to the police station, and their families would pick them from there." I could hear joy from his tone too. "You did it, Xander. You got yourself a promotion. Easy-peasy." He laughed. "No, Chichi. We did it." I took a sip, "Yeah, whatever. So, what's next?"

"It's insane but I'm going with the list." He uttered. "You know how dangerous that is?" I sat on the couch. An empty living room because Marina left once, we had breakfast together. I forced her to be specific. How was I going to eat everything alone? "I know Chichi. Would you cry for me if I died?" I smiled, "No. I'm bringing a party to your funeral. Watch your back, Xan. The list is no joke." I was talking about higher corrupt officials. "I will."

I wanted and I wished we could've gotten Antonio too. It's not like nobody knows about him, it's just that the system didn't say a word against people like him. Even so, his life was mine to take. I also wanted to kill Enzo myself. The law beat me to it. Xander's life, however, was on the line now. They would go after him for taking down one of them. But you could never change Xander's decisions once he put his mind to something. Just like the man who ran away. I mused, enjoying my coffee.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry but we cannot let you in."

"Do you know who I am? Move aside now! I need to see your boss."

"We can't let you in! Please go back, Ma'am."

"I said to move! Aren't you moving now?"

The noise at the door woke me up. I frowned, wondering who was arguing with the door guard. I sat up yawning, my gaze catching the cup on the floor. Only God knew when I passed out on a couch.

"Please go back, Ma'am!"

"I'm not going anywhere until I talk to your boss!"

I shut my eyes, groaning. I rose to my feet and dragged myself to the door. I pushed it open and wished I hadn't the next second. My frown deepened and my blood began to boil. "Madam," the guard greeted me. The poor man looked concerned. "What the hell are you doing here?" I looked at her starting from her white knee-high heels to her mini body-hugging yellow dress up until her re-structured face. At least she wore less make up today. But that tight high ponytail must be sinfully painful.

"What brought me here is none of your business." The tone. She had to change her tone before I changed it for her. I let out a deep breath and uttered, "I don't like you." She crossed her hands over chest, smug face and all. "Honey, the feeling is mutual."

Some people wished to live longer in their hospital beds and some, they were standing before me begging me to take their life. How unfair. "I think Melo told you last time not to come here, ever again. Leave." While I was still being civilized.

"This is not your house. You can't tell me what to do, bitch."

"Oh."

"You might think you are so special now that he calls you his woman but let me tell you this, you are just one of his many bitches!"

"Well, I just happened to be his favorite bitch then, not you."

She was insisting, not my fault. "I hope you're as fast as your mouth is." She narrowed her eyes, "What?" I turned to the guard, swiftly snatched the gun from its holster, attached to his belt, aimed at her and shot. The gunshot rang in the air and soon alarms went off. Her body stilled, her eyes opened wide like saucers, and her shoulder began to bleed. Painting her yellow dress red. "Holy shit!" The guard uttered.

"Of course, you're not." I shot again, this time at her feet. She scooted away, screaming her lungs out, and hid behind her flashy pink sports car. "Madam," The guard said, but didn't dare to stop me. "Oh, look, it is a learned process. Turns out she can be fast." I told the guard who looked at me as though I was a mad woman. I was for him.

"You crazy bitch!" Her scream came. "Where is the magazine?" I snapped my fingers at the guard. "Huh?" I stretched my hand, "Give it." He searched himself and handed it to me. I reloaded the gun, "What were you saying again?" I asked, cocking it. "Fuck you!" She wailed. "Yep, that I will." I fired at her car. Her wails went louder. Was her car bulletproofed? Why?

An arm swung around my waist and yanked me off the ground. "Take the gun! What are you waiting for?" Carmelo barked. The guard peeled the gun from my grip. "Let go of me! Let go!" My hands and feet fought with the air. "Calm down, tesoro. Don't do this." I screamed and glared at Storm, who was walking over to the holed car, where the nosy woman peeked her head a little. My nose flared, shooting daggers at her. Carmelo began to head inside, his grip so tight I could never slip through even if I tried to.

"If I ever see you near my man and our home again, you know exactly what I'm going to do to you next, you bitch! Or you can just come around so I can show you, fucking clingy bitch!" The door was slammed shut.
