Chapter 466 - Chapter 466: Clash with the Will of the World

"So, you saw through me after all…" After Xiao Yan exposed his identity, the Evil God could only sigh helplessly. The real Evil God had indeed been completely erased, and once his consciousness faded, the Will of the World seized the opportunity to invade and occupy the body of the strongest being in the history of the Great Thousand World. This body had become its vessel for descending into the world.

"So it really is you." Xiao Yan narrowed his eyes slightly. A Nine-Eyed Evil God was already terrifying enough, and this being was the actual embodiment of the Will of the World, capable of mobilizing the power of the entire realm. Battling it was akin to fighting against the Great Thousand World itself. What puzzled him, however, was this entity's true objective.

"Are you wondering why I helped you before, only to now stand in your way?" The Evil God seemed to read Xiao Yan's thoughts and calmly continued, "You're not wrong. When we first met, I truly meant you no harm. The help I offered was genuine, because I hoped you could eliminate the threat of the Extraterritorial Evil Race."

That part wasn't a lie. Back then, the Will of the World had been deeply troubled by the chaos of fate, uncertain of its own future, and had pinned all its hopes on Xiao Yan.

After all, if the Extraterritorial Evil Race had won, its own fate would have been miserable. But times had changed. The Will of the World never expected Xiao Yan to eliminate the evil race so swiftly—and that's when the real issue became apparent.

"I've seen all you've done. You performed exceptionally—so exceptional, in fact, that you've exceeded my ability to control. With your potential, it won't be long before you reach the same level as the fully-powered Evil God. But you exist outside the laws of this world, and I cannot restrain you. That means when that time comes, I'll be helpless if you decide to act against me."

"And you absolutely will act," the Will of the World stared directly at him. "Because my power would only make you stronger. Once you learn that, you would never let me go. At that point, you'll become even more terrifying than the Evil God ever was."

"So that's it… In the end, it's nothing more than a case of 'the merit overshadows the master'." Xiao Yan nodded. Now it all made sense. "But you know my temperament. Since you've chosen to stand against me, then I'll make your worst fears a reality."

He understood clearly: what the Will of the World said wasn't wrong. In fact, if it hadn't made the first move, his plan after refining the Saint Demon Flame would've been to devour the Evil God trapped within the Great Thousand Demonic Transformation Array. And once he learned that absorbing the Will of the World would make him stronger, he wouldn't hesitate to destroy it.

"If you had another ten years to cultivate, I might truly fear you. But right now, you're still unqualified." The Evil God's tone turned cold. As his voice fell, countless waves of demonic energy surged forth and gathered before him, condensing into a rapidly spinning disc-shaped blade that shot toward Xiao Yan with explosive force.

The rotating blade was impossibly fast, its slicing power immense. As it passed, it seemed to tear through heaven and earth itself. But Xiao Yan could see through the illusion. The demonic energy entwined around it was, at its core, merely spiritual energy—deliberately disguised by the Will of the World.

After all, no one else had heard their conversation. The Immortal Lord and the others still believed this Evil God to be the same ancient entity. The Will of the World didn't want the truth to leak; it would utterly shatter the reverence and awe people had for it.

Facing the attack, Xiao Yan responded with a cold smirk. His five fingers clenched into a fist and he punched forward violently. In an instant, countless demonic runes erupted from his body—over a million in number.

As his strength had advanced, his Eternal Void Demon Body had been able to condense increasingly more runes. Ever since reaching the Saint-grade, he'd rarely revealed this fact. Even the Will of the World, despite observing him from the shadows, hadn't expected his physical body to reach such terrifying levels.

Those million runes gathered mid-air into a colossal, blood-red demonic dragon that let out a thunderous roar. Under Xiao Yan's control, it collided head-on with the spinning blade. At the moment of impact, a deafening boom echoed across the Great Thousand World. A pitch-black spatial rift stretched across half the sky, sending shivers down countless spines.

As the energy from both sides gradually dispersed, the two figures slowly became visible again. The Evil God still looked calm and unruffled, his aura seemingly unchanged from before. Xiao Yan, on the other hand, was pale, his breathing slightly ragged. Clearly, in that clash, the Evil God had held the upper hand.

"To think you could block that strike with just late-stage Saint-grade power… I underestimated you." A hint of admiration appeared on the Evil God's face. "But I trust you now see the gulf between us. For me, it was a casual blow. For you, full exertion. If we continue, your defeat is inevitable."

He spoke slowly, his tone unhurried. "In light of the fact you eliminated the Extraterritorial Evil Race for me, I'll give you a chance. Allow me to plant a trace of World Power within you. You'll still reign over the Great Thousand World, and I won't interfere further. What do you say?"

In truth, had Xiao Yan not been rejected by the world itself, none of this would be necessary. Most cultivators, by the time they reached the peak, needed to borrow the Will of the World's power to advance. That made them impossible threats—because their strength came from the world itself.

But Xiao Yan was different. Rejected by the world, he could not cultivate the Sovereign Body—but he was also free from the Will's control. As he grew, he would eventually transcend the world entirely, just like the invading Evil God had. Worse still, Xiao Yan would go even further.

"If I agree, wouldn't my life and death then rest in your hands?" Xiao Yan exhaled deeply, then gave a wry smile. "And if someone else appeared later who could connect to your power, you'd train them to destroy me. What a convenient plan…"

He chuckled lightly. "Unfortunately, I think you're celebrating far too early."
