The eight great Demon Gods caught Yun Jin completely off guard. Her carefully laid plan started to shift in ways she never expected.
She glanced around and saw that Master Wan Dao had chosen the same as her, to stay and wait. They would have to find a chance to sit down and talk properly.
After the disciple competition ended, this barren wilderness truly became lively. Orders poured out of the Demon God Palace, and the strongest of the demon races rushed in from all directions. Billions of demons answered the call and came to build.
In just seven days, a massive new city rose from the dust. For the next thousand years, it would be the new center of power.
The Devouring Demon God was busy enough to forget to breathe and Yun Jin lived in a state of being left to her own devices.
Wan Dao was no different.
So they simply picked a time and agreed to meet outside the city.
In a hidden cave.
Yun Jin set layer after layer of barriers and masked everything with the Primordial Yin Yang. Only then did she look toward the three.
An Ying and Ling Yun kept studying her with barely hidden warmth. They already knew the whole story from Wan Dao. But still, they could not imagine it.
A stray note that Wan Dao left a thousand years ago had really led Wushuang Sect to such a brilliant successor.
"Martial Uncles, hello." Yun Jin spoke in an obedient and gentle way.
Both An Ying and Ling Yun felt their hearts soften at once. Their big brother even told them that her way of speaking felt a little strange and that they should get used to it.
How was it strange?
She sounded like a well behaved and adorable child that made people want to hold her close and protect her.
Ling Yun pulled her over and started pulling out a pile of gifts.
An Ying followed right behind and emptied his storage pouch.
"Thank you, Martial Uncles." Yun Jin said sweetly, "But you really don't have to. I don't lack anything."
"This kid, you always need gifts when you meet your uncles. Don't be polite with us." Ling Yun hurried to say.
An Ying nodded.
Yun Jin had no choice but to accept them.
Then three pairs of eyes turned toward Wan Dao.
Wan Dao froze. He reached into his sleeve and shoved a storage ring at her. "I prepared this long ago. Take whatever you want and play with it."
Yun Jin laughed and took it. She truly didn't lack anything, but kindness was kindness. She would never turn that away. After she put the gifts away, she went straight to the point.
"Master, Martial Uncles, I came to ask you to come back with me to the Vast Azure World."
The three of them blinked.
Wan Dao was the first to recover and suddenly demanded, "You never told me how you came to the Polar Night World. Don't tell me you know a way to stabilize a passage between two worlds?"
The moment he spoke, his expression turned heavy. If that were true.
Then she could find it.
Then the other demon races could find it too.
Then they wouldn't need that thousand year plan at all and the Vast Azure World would be in danger far earlier than they ever prepared for.
Yun Jin shook her head. She thought for a moment and said carefully, "How I came here is something I can't explain clearly right now. When we return to the Vast Azure World, you'll see for yourselves and then you'll understand. What we need to deal with first is the acceleration plan in the Polar Night World."
At the mention of that plan, all three faces darkened.
This plan truly caught them all off guard. They had always thought that it would take a very long time before the two small worlds came close enough to collide. Now that time had been crushed almost to nothing. At their level, improvement was not easy.
This was almost a death sentence for the Vast Azure World.
"Originally," Yun Jin said calmly, "I thought the same as you. I wanted to rely on myself and carry this disaster alone. So I came here alone, thinking I could use twenty thousand years to find a path of survival for the Vast Azure World.
But now I have to admit that I can't do it alone. Even if I add Master and both Martial Uncles to me, the four of us still can't shoulder something this vast.
Since this disaster belongs to the entire Vast Azure World, then the entire Vast Azure World should take part in bearing it."
Her voice was steady.
These days she had thought a lot. If it were possible, she would gladly carry everything alone and let everyone else focus on cultivation in peace.
But reality proved otherwise.
The eight Demon Gods were each more cunning than the last, and the foundations of the Polar Night World went deeper than she could imagine.
The idea that she could shoulder everything alone was, in the end, childish. This disaster required every person in the Vast Azure World to stand together. Only then might they have even a sliver of chance against the Polar Night Demon World.
Wan Dao watched her resolute expression and felt a warm pride rise in his chest. The Tian Po Sword really had found a fine successor.
"You are so young, yet you always think you should bear everything alone." Ling Yun felt her heart twist, "In such a short time, you gained this kind of power. You must have suffered a lot."
Ling Yun's eyes were full of affection.
Yun Jin blinked and answered honestly, "Not really. Things actually went pretty smoothly."
"Don't say that. If you suffered, then you should say it." Ling Yun's eyes were already shiny.
What kind of life would shape someone who carried everything silently and never let it spill onto anyone else?
Wan Dao felt a sudden chill in his heart.
He had a very bad premonition.
Then he heard Yun Jin speak in that sincere tone, "It's not that I suffered. This is mostly talent. I can't even low key if I try."
She sighed softly.
"If suffering would help, then the demons who saw their races wiped out would have suffered far more than me."
Ling Yun swallowed back tears.
That was…
That was painfully logical.
For some reason, she felt strangely hollow.
The momentary emotion passed and Wan Dao cleared his throat.
"Xiao Jin, do you have a plan?"
Yun Jin nodded and produced a scroll. She spoke calmly.
"This is a permanent spatial array. In theory, it can be set anywhere and once it is established, it can never be destroyed. When it is set up, the other end will be placed at the headquarters of Wushuang Sect. Anyone permitted can freely travel between the two ends."
Wan Dao's pupils shrank.
A permanent spatial array.
It can be set anywhere.
It can never be destroyed.
Every phrase sounded like fantasy on fantasy.
And she said them all in one breath.
Wan Dao's lips trembled. For a long moment, he could not speak at all.
