The Interlace is a place that is not quite a game, nor a dream. However, it isn't reality either. It is a liminal space—a virtual refuge and an emotional simulation.
People have many different views on the Interlace. Some are good, and some… not so good. There are different types of people who engage with it. Some live in it, hardly ever leaving—or not leaving at all. Others are more casual, using it as an escape when living in the real world feels too hard. Then there are those who hate it, even going as far as to mock the people who enter.
And then there's me.
I'm not sure which camp I fall into when it comes to the Interlace. I enjoy it, and I spend a fair amount of time there. But it has also brought me a lot of pain. I come and go as I please—usually entering when someone wants me to, or when I need that feeling of escape from reality. I've made a lot of memories inside over the years, both good and bad.
To enter the Interlace, you connect through the Dreamline. Once connected, you're no longer your physical self. You become the fragmented embodiment of who you want to be.
Inside, you're linked into a lattice of World-Strands. Each strand is its own universe, created by beings within the Interlace. All are connected by emotional resonance. Some choose to create gates to allow others to freely enter their strand—even allowing visitors to clone them and use them as personal spaces.
My strand is called Halcyon Reache—a horizonless field of fractured chrome and mechanical ruins suspended mid-air. A place for me to do my work in peace. My own personal escape from reality.
