Bane flew past the battling Durge, Avengers, and Jedi, heading straight for his objective.
Seeing the Duros bounty hunter escaping, Spider-Man did his best to give chase. However, this proved difficult with floating battle droids exploding around him.
"Hey, R2!" Spider-Man called out. "Mind turning the gravity back on for us?"
The astromech droid beeped acknowledgment and activated his thrusters, heading for the nearest control port he could access.
Once this was accomplished, Spider-Man fired multiple web-lines. Each caught a battle droid, and he pulled them together, turning them into a tangled pile of scrap metal.
Blaster fire filled the hangar bay. A stray bolt knocked one of the proton torpedoes from its secured rack, causing it to float freely.
Seeing this, Rex shouted to his team: "Watch out for secondary explosions! Hit one of those torpedoes and we're all finished!"
Hearing this warning, Spider-Man looked toward the floating ordnance. He wanted to secure it so his allies would be safe. As he turned to avoid more enemy fire, his eyes locked onto Durge.
He remembered what he'd heard about the Gen'Dai bounty hunter's abilities and incredible regenerative properties. War Machine's arsenal was currently pounding him, but it wasn't making much progress—it would take something much more powerful to put him down.
Suddenly, an idea flashed through the teenager's mind.
"Captain Rex! I've got a plan!"
Rex watched as Spider-Man grabbed one of the floating torpedoes and swung it directly at Durge, who had just hurled General Skywalker across the hangar.
Rex could barely suppress a grin beneath his helmet. The kid wasn't half bad, even if he was still inexperienced.
The torpedo flew straight toward Durge, who caught it instinctively, and Rex fired a perfect shot at the warhead.
The blaster bolt struck the torpedo, detonating it in a massive explosion that engulfed Durge and sent debris flying in all directions.
Bane glanced back just in time to see Anakin pursuing him.
Just as the Jedi was about to reach him, R2 reactivated the artificial gravity.
Everyone crashed to the deck, Bane and the holocron falling together.
Anakin scrambled to his feet in time to see Bane snatch the holocron back and give him a mocking smile.
Anakin gritted his teeth and continued his pursuit, when something suddenly ensnared his legs, preventing him from advancing.
Anakin's eyes widened as he recognized the familiar biomass wrapped around his leg.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Anakin muttered in disbelief and frustration.
"My thanks, Durge," Bane said, tipping his hat.
"Why won't this thing stay dead?!" Pietro shouted angrily. "Just die already, you freak!"
"Hey! The cowboy's trying to escape!" Spider-Man pointed at the retreating Duros bounty hunter.
"I'll get him!" Ahsoka shouted, then rushed after Bane.
"No! Ahsoka!"
Anakin was hurled through the air by Durge's appendage.
"I've got you!" Spider-Man leaped up, caught the Jedi, and landed safely on the deck, away from the regenerating, rampaging Gen'Dai.
"Thanks, kid," Anakin said gratefully, looking back toward Ahsoka, only to see the blast doors had sealed shut.
"No! She's walked straight into a trap," Anakin realized. "Rex, fall back and regroup. Get as far from Durge as possible. Secure a ship in the hangar and prepare for evacuation."
"What about you, General?" Rex asked. "This ship won't survive much longer."
"I need to find Ahsoka."
War Machine called out, "Anakin, go find your Padawan. We'll handle this monster."
"Sir, are you certain you can continue fighting?" Echo asked with concern.
"Never underestimate a soldier's determination, Echo. You should know that better than anyone."
Before the clone could respond, Durge roared loudly as his body began expanding again.
"Let's blow him up again!" Spider-Man suggested enthusiastically.
"I like this plan," Fives said excitedly. "I like you, kid. You're absolutely crazy."
"General, find Ahsoka and that bounty hunter," Rex encouraged. "We'll take care of this creature."
Anakin hesitated, but seeing his troops and the Avengers urging him forward, he departed.
However, Durge had other intentions.
The frenzied Gen'Dai grabbed a nearby torpedo and hurled it directly at Anakin before snatching a discarded droid blaster and opening fire.
"Look out!" Pietro shouted.
"General Skywalker!"
Anakin spun around just in time to see the torpedo exploding. Fortunately, it detonated at a safe distance and he wouldn't be caught in the blast radius. Unfortunately, the explosion's shockwave was still powerful enough to send Anakin flying backward, and the entire hangar structure began collapsing.
Pietro immediately accelerated forward, while Spider-Man frantically fired multiple web-lines to pull clone troopers away from falling debris.
Meanwhile...
Ahsoka raced through the corridors, pursuing the retreating Duros bounty hunter. She pushed herself to her limits to catch up with him, and it seemed to pay off when he reached what appeared to be a dead end.
"Did you really think you could escape?"
Bane simply scoffed. "You're not much of a challenge, little one." Turning back, he smiled coldly. "I've got you exactly where I want you."
He quickly drew his blaster and fired. Ahsoka deflected the bolt with her lightsaber, sending it ricocheting back at him. It struck Bane in the shoulder. He immediately retaliated, kicking Ahsoka's lightsaber from her hand before firing again in response.
Ahsoka dodged Bane's attack, grabbed his weapon arm, and threw him to the deck.
Standing over the fallen bounty hunter, she said mockingly, "You're not as tough as you pretend to be."
As she used the Force to recall her lightsaber, she didn't notice Bane grasping her ankle. Feeling the sudden contact, she looked down to see Bane activating a device on his wrist, sending electrical current coursing through her body.
Within moments, she lost consciousness.
Bane stood over her unconscious form, grinning with satisfaction.
