LUCIUS' POV.
"Yes," the word slipped past my lips before I could even think.
And then…everything around me shifted. The veil, the guests, the scent of roses… vanished. Diana was gone as Marissa stood before me, looking nothing like a bride but more like a startled stranger.
My chest started to beat fast and my palms trembled as the imagination in my head cleared.
It wasn't real…It was all in my head, an hallucination.
The rage came fast and it immediately burned in my veins, the same black fire that had plagued me since last night. Without thinking, I struck the ritual calabash before me. It shattered against the marble floor, the sound slicing through the murmurs of the guests as everyone froze immediately.
Gasps rippled through the air and Marissa stumbled back, her face filled with shock and pale, her eyes wide. "Lucius?" she whispered, trembling. "What are you doing?"
Instantly the drums stopped and the flutes went silent as all eyes were on me.
