Alec ran, the White Lotus token clutched tightly in his hand, his mind a whirlwind of confusion and fear. The icy plains stretched endlessly before him, a vast, unforgiving expanse. He didn't know where he was going, only that he had to put as much distance as possible between himself and the Fire Nation ship, between himself and Zuko, between himself and the painful echoes of his past.
He pushed himself harder, his lungs burning with the effort, his legs aching with every stride. The cold wind bit at his exposed skin, but he barely felt it. His thoughts were a chaotic jumble of fire, scars, betrayal, and the innocent, bewildered face of the boy in the ice. And he had just escaped, again, from the very people he had once considered friends.
Suddenly, a shadow fell over him, not the menacing shadow of a Fire Nation ship, but something vast and soft. He looked up, his eyes widening in disbelief. Hovering above him, its massive form silhouetted against the pale sky, was a giant, six-legged bison, its shaggy white fur blending almost perfectly with the snow. And on its back, he saw them – Katara, Sokka, and the boy, Avatar.
Katara, her face etched with concern, spotted him first. "Alec!" she cried out, her voice filled with relief. "You're alright!"
Alec stopped, panting, utterly shocked. A flying bison. A giant flying bison. It was so utterly fantastical, so completely beyond anything his fragmented memories could conjure, that for a moment, all his fear and confusion vanished, replaced by a childlike wonder. He just stared, his mouth agape, at the majestic creature.
Sokka, ever the pragmatist, quickly assessed the situation. "We need to get this boy back to the village. He's weak, and the Fire Nation ship is still out there. Alec, can you help us?"
Alec, still reeling from the sight of Appa, nodded mutely. He moved towards the bison, his eyes never leaving the creature. He reached out a hand, tentatively touching its soft fur.
"We need to take a different route," Alec said, his voice a little hoarse, his mind already calculating the safest path. "The Fire Nation ship is still patrolling the main ice shelf. There's a series of hidden passages through the ice caves that will lead us back to the village, undetected."
Katara looked at him, her eyes still holding a hint of confusion from their earlier encounter. She wanted to ask about the fire, about the water, about the tears. But she saw the turmoil in his eyes, the weariness that clung to him. She decided to wait. "Alright," she said, her voice soft. "Lead the way."
As they navigated the labyrinthine ice caves, Aang, still weak but recovering, rode comfortably on Appa's back. Sokka and Katara walked alongside, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger. Alec, his senses heightened, led them through the treacherous terrain, his heat-sensing ability proving invaluable in avoiding hidden crevasses and unstable ice formations.
Zuko, still reeling from the confrontation with Alec, watched the group disappear into the swirling snow.
"Uncle," Zuko said, his voice barely a whisper, turning to Iroh, who had since joined him. "I lost him again... I had so much to say but ..."
Iroh nodded, "Yes, Prince Zuko. But don't worry i believe you two will meet soon enough."

They arrived back at the Southern Water Tribe village as dusk began to settle, the sky painted in hues of purple and orange. Kanna, who had been anxiously waiting, rushed out to meet them, her face a mixture of relief and concern. Her gaze immediately fell upon Appa, who was now gently landing near the main tent.
"What in the spirits..." Kanna began, her eyes wide with bewilderment. "A flying bison!"
Her eyes then swept over Aang, who was now being helped off Appa's back by Katara and Sokka. A flicker of recognition, of ancient knowledge, crossed her face. She looked at Alec, then back at Aang, and a profound understanding dawned upon her.
"Come inside, all of you," Kanna said, her voice firm, her earlier questions about fighting noises and Alec's disappearance momentarily forgotten in the face of this new, monumental revelation. "And bring the bison. We have much to discuss."
Inside the largest tent, a fire crackled, casting a warm glow on their faces. Kanna sat opposite Alec, her wise eyes studying him intently. Katara and Sokka sat beside Aang, who was now bundled in furs, sipping warm broth. The air was thick with unspoken questions, with the weight of history.
Alec, his mind still reeling, began to recount the events, carefully choosing his words. He spoke of his journey into the icy mountains, his anger, his firebending, and the accidental discovery of the glowing ice ball. He described the boy within, the airbender tattoos, and Katara's role in freeing him. He spoke of the Fire Nation ship, and his subsequent escape.
He omitted, however, any mention of Zuko, of the White Lotus token, and of his own dual bending. He saw Katara's eyebrow raise slightly when he glossed over the details of his escape, a flicker of suspicion in her eyes. Kanna, too, watched him with a knowing gaze, a subtle shift in her expression indicating that she sensed the omissions, the unspoken truths. But she said nothing, allowing Alec to tell his story in his own way.
As Alec finished, a heavy silence fell over the tent. The Avatar, the last Airbender, had returned. And Alec, the mysterious stranger, was inextricably linked to his reappearance. The Fire Nation was here, and the world was about to change. Kanna, though she didn't expose Alec's partial truths, understood that his story, like the ice from which Aang had emerged, held many layers, many secrets yet to be revealed. The journey ahead would be fraught with danger, but also with the promise of a new era, a new hope, for a world teetering on the brink of war.
