Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 : Return

Breathing heavily, the boy placed his hand on the troll and slowly rose it. Mystically an orb of energy phased through the deceased troll's back and flew into his palm.

The orb instantly melted into to a slippery liquid and seeped into the boy's skin. His palms glowed dimly, he closed his eyes allowing the intoxicating feeling of power surge through him.

' Expected.' he said wiping and sheathing his blade. With Vertex gluttonously tearing the troll to shreds, the boy turned to leave. Then a realization struck him.

He turned and saw what hadn't been there, as the moonlight bathed the troll's corpse, sprouts emerged from it and grew rapidly. The mystical plants bloomed to reveal eight whitish pedals with a violet center.

They had pale amber leaves and at once the boy knew this was what he had searched for. This was the Lirapus Aliverea. The last ingredient his master required to formulate the elixir of immortality.

Carefully uprooting galore of the Lirapus, he stuffed it into his bag and glanced over at Vertex. " We return, and we move now. Before morning we might have reached the squadron."

Understanding his words, the Jaguarian growled and scaled a tree, his new job was spotting potential threats from a vintage point.

With the troll dead, the true inhabitants of the forest would return. It wasn't a magical forest though but the boy could formulate a visual of him battling a pack of wolves.

So in the dead of the night, the boy sojourned back. It was cold enough to make his teeth chatter, but for this journey he would say he was well dressed by his master.

On other days not being naked was luxury. Moreover he would never complain as he didn't care whether he was clothed or not as far as he wasn't uncomfortable.

Time passed slowly and he felt excruciating boredom. Frequently he battled some mundane creatures returning to the forest from their hiding.

They were weak and easily cut down by his blade. Vertex received a fair share of kills as most times the boy was a bit reluctant, sending the Jaguarian to take care of threats.

Nevertheless the long night was over and the boy could be seen briskly walking, towards a moving squadron. The duo had exited the forest and were in a vast low grass prairie.

With a soft sigh, the boy walked around gathering pieces of dry sticks, twigs and grass. Setting three pieces of rocks in a triangular pattern and started a fire.

Slowly he roasted the bear's meat he had taken earlier. Vertex watching him with cold anticipation, he ignored the feline and went on with his business.

After sometime of roasting, he tossed Vertex a piece and neatly ate the portion he reserved for himself. " We race to camp…, that's what the meal is for." He said with reason.

" Stop not, till our destination is reached." He added rising to his feet and stretching his limbs. The divine feline mimicked his companion, it's eyes brimming with competitiveness.

A sonic bang echoed through the forest area as two beings moved at inhumane speeds. Gusts of wind whirled as they defied mundane movement.

Soon they begin decreasing in velocity. The boy worst. However the jaguar was slightly slower than it's initial speed, making it far ahead of the boy.

Vertex reached the group and leaped to the roof of a wooden carriage. The boy moreover arrived minutes later, panting and clutching tightly to his chest. He held unto an ledge and stabilized himself on the moving carriage.

' Curse this mortal form.'

About a kilometer of where he stood was a squadron. Two hundred Varethian calvary men in a perfect squared formation. All armed with spears and swords.

From the very beginning of their journey back to the capital state of Varethia. the boy was a bit impressed by the disciplined march of the squadron.

His feelings to the leader was inexistent, except he wanted to ruin the notorious Commander Serph. Ever since she attempted to kill him that night, he deviously plotted her downfall.

Now she was leading a squadron far away from the Goth tribe camp. Away from those monstrous powerhouses, General Conphicus, Commander Derium, Commander Aster.

Especially the greatest threat, the very one which restricted him from carrying out his plan from the very beginning. Transcendent Nolcter, Commander Serph's blood brother.

Now they were miles behind, he might have a chance to do way the female warrior. He just had to be extremely meticulous in his planning as things were easier said than done.

Commander Serph was a Mid Awakened while he was a Pinnacle Mortal. The capabilities gap was existent and very vast. He had a powerful flair, she had a stronger one.

The fact he even had a flair was a shock to many as it was an attribute only accessable when one awakened. But he had one without awakening.

Maybe that was why he would be sold of to Varethia, as a slave soldier once they reached the capital. Nevertheless he would watch their plans fall to ruins.

With Vertex resting on the utility carriage, the boy brushed of his future thoughts and went into the slowly moving carriage. Immediately he was greeted by the metallic smell of blood.

The dim room was suddenly illuminated by the rays of the morning sun. " Jaxon, did you retrieve the item." An aged voice said weakly. Dropping to his knees, Jaxon bowed saying, " In your accord, Lord Myron."

For an normal human, the sight of seeing a dissected human was supposed to be sickening. But Jaxon was in fact not normal and was so used to seeing things like this it felt normal.

Sighing, the aged man dropped his miniature dagger and gazed at his kneeling slave. " Well then." Jaxon rose and handed his leather bag over to his master.

He looked over at the female besides his master. Diligently she removed the organs of the deceased man. ' I knew that slave.' Jaxon looked back at his master who was smiling brightly.

" Istria discard that body, feed it to Vertex or something." Myron said, immediately Jaxon said," I strictly advise you don't do that. Vertex doesn't eat dead humans, but he would devour you if you try to feed him one."

The pretty girl looked back and forth between Jaxon and Myron. " Master, I think I would throw it by the forest outskirts." Istria timidly said.

" Do as you please, let Jaxon help you out…, and after that clean this place up. Jaxon you shall count the remaining experimental slaves." Myron ordered slowly walking to the front cabin with the leather bag in his hands.

Jaxon stood perfectly still watching Istria pack the body pieces in a bag. " You told me you would return quicker." She said, her head faced down.

" It wasn't a promise…, I got lost." He responded coldly. Drops of tears fell down her eyes, " You weren't there…, you weren't there to protect me."

" Warming Lord Myron's bed should be your purpose, getting used by slaves and soldiers alike shouldn't be new to you. Be strong, my mission was planned." Jaxon said his voice betraying no hint of emotion.

Istria wiped her eyes with her sleeves, she looked up at his divinely forged face. " Would you be their for me?" She asked,

" Consider my position, Istria, I am a slave just like you, abet a lowly one, as useless as cattle. I would look into your request but I wouldn't guarantee seeing it through." He said lifting one of the bags.
