Shen Mu came back with a candied hawthorn skewer and offered it to Huo Yunxiao, "Here, try it?"
Huo Yunxiao frowned as the sugar on it had congealed together, making it look like it would stick to his teeth. He never ate sweets.
Shen Mu reached out again, "But I thought you liked sweet things?"
Huo Yunxiao hesitated before finally opening his mouth and eating one. The rock candy melted in his mouth, making it almost too sweet to bear.
Huo Yunxiao, proud of his self-control, managed to keep his expression neutral as he chewed and swallowed two more.
Shen Mu offered him another, but he coughed and said, "I don't really want to eat snacks."
Shen Mu's hand paused, "Okay, then I'll eat it."
One of her hands was held by Huo Yunxiao, and the other held the candied hawthorn skewer. She had worked hard to finish it before they got back to the hotel.
As they walked into the room, Huo Yunxiao took off his coat to take a shower while Shen Mu sat on the couch texting Cheng Yuan.
