Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I woke up from a dream. A dream that felt so real. That girl. It is Mei. The student council president. Good at cooking. Good at sports like volleyball and soccer. She somewhat has rich parents. Which are rumours basically. At every subject, she aces it. The term of "Best Student" or "Angel" or "Queen Bee" is her titles. It is crazy to think about it. Well, for me. I am ignorant of her. Whether she has titles or got the highest grade in a hardest test, I really do not pay attention. Somewhat nonchalant but, that is who I am, anyway.

Well, about me? I guess I am just an ordinary guy. Of course, you think at this age I will think about romance, right? But I do not. I just study and let my future decide where I will go. Like going with the current of life.

-Sighs

I am not the best guy in our class. People, I mean, my classmates… They just look at me and they go to another person. Sometimes they call me a nerd or a loser. Of course, trying to be mature at the age of where my emotions can spiral out of nowhere. I handled it. It is just hurtful, but cultural norms still say boys got to be tough.

-Continue waking to school…

My house is fairly near the school that I just walk it. Others take the bicycles. If you are far away, your parents will take you to the school.

-I saw the student council president, stepping off her car. Everyone already bowed to her, like the queen she was.

I took a deep breath. Saying to myself.

"It's nothing. I just got to lay my head down and everything will be fine."

-I stroll to the entrance. Slipped through unnoticed, a chilling wind the only witness to my silent progress. Continued walking to my locker. Took out my books. Walked to class.

After the teacher taught the class. It is now lunchtime. I am eating on the rooftop. In the other building, with fewer students, I have a view of the whole campus. Like a watch tower. My lunch is a homemade sandwich. Made by me. My parents are always at work. They go at 6 a.m., then leave for work at 11 p.m. I then eat my lunch as I enjoy the view.

Suddenly, Mei appeared out of nowhere and she took a seat beside me. She looks at me coldly. Like I am an enemy.

-She leans towards me. Thinking about something. Then she whispers, "So, how is school?"

I am very surprised, asking me like it is very normal. It really is not, though.

-I reply. "It's alright, doing everything to pass."

I also reply like it is normal. It is awkward, but I finish my lunch anyhow.

-"So, are you considering joining a club now? You're the only one who hasn't joined a club yet."

September has arrived, and I still have not joined a single club this year weighs heavily on me, prompting a weary sigh and a knowing I am the only one left.

-I look at the sky…

-Asking for answers…
