“But you also made another promise, Syd,” Apollonia spoke softly, a tinge of sadness in her smile.
“What do you—"
“I heard about your wedding, Syd,” Apollonia interrupted Syd’s question. Syd widened his eyes as though to ask how that had anything to do with this.
“My mother and grandfather attended, right? Mother remembered the vows you made to your wife and told me about it.”
Syd still frowned, but his lips tightened as he recalled those vows.
“‘I cannot give you endless joy, but I will shoulder your pain and suffering.’”
Apollonia recited the words she had heard from Princess Elenia.
“‘Even if we are apart, I will put half of my soul by your side’”
Syd looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn’t say anything in the end.
“Are you keeping that promise? Have you truly shared in Mrs. Weihen’s pain and suffering during her illness?”
