**Dehradun**
It was 5:00 in the evening. Nisha and Rihana's college had ended. After college, Nisha was heading home, while Rihana was going to *Plaza Café*.
Rihana worked at the café from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Both girls said goodbye to each other and went their separate ways.
As soon as she reached the café, Rihana greeted the owner with, "Good afternoon, ma'am," and got to work. That day, the café was quite crowded, so everyone had to work quickly.
In the rush, Rihana accidentally dropped a cup of coffee. Seeing this, the café owner got very angry because Rihana often made such mistakes. But still, the owner didn't say anything—she just glared at her angrily.
Actually, many college boys used to come to the café just to see Rihana.
They loved her smile and the way she talked. They often flirted lightly with her, and sometimes Rihana would joke and laugh along with them. These boys came every day after college and only wanted to see Rihana.
**On the other hand**, Nisha reached home. As soon as she entered, she went straight to the bathroom because she had rushed to college in the morning without bathing.
After some time, she came out and saw that her brother Aniket was sitting on her bed.
She was surprised to see him.
There was a strange, mischievous smile on Aniket's face, which made Nisha uneasy—because whenever he smiled like that, something bad always happened in her life.
She asked, "What are you doing here?"
Aniket quickly replied, "Why? Can't I come into your room?"
Nisha said, "I didn't mean that… It's just that you rarely come here, so I asked."
Aniket said, "Okay, but Dad is calling us to the dining table. He wants us all to eat together tonight."
Hearing this, Nisha was shocked. Her dad—Yugveer—had called her for dinner? She couldn't believe it. Yugveer never did anything without a motive. In all these years, they had never had a family dinner together. So why today, all of a sudden?
Nisha got lost in her thoughts and didn't even realize Aniket had left.
A little later, she got ready and went downstairs. When she reached the dining table, she saw that everyone had already started eating. She quietly sat down.
There was an odd silence at the table. Everyone was eating without speaking a word.
Then, breaking the silence, Yugveer said, "Nisha, I need to talk to you about something important."
Nisha replied, "Yes Dad, go ahead."
Yugveer said, "I've fixed your marriage… with Balwant Raheja's son, Tarun."
Hearing this, Nisha was stunned. She was completely taken aback.
She stood up in anger and said, "What are you saying, Dad? How can you fix my marriage without my consent? You didn't even bother to ask me once? I don't want to get married right now. I still have to finish my studies."
Hearing this, Yugveer stood up angrily, "I'm your father! I have the right to make decisions about your life! You can't say no!"
Nisha shouted, "I don't like that man at all! Maybe I would've considered it if it were someone else—but him?"
Yugveer yelled, "What's your problem with him? He studies in your college!"
Nisha raised her voice, "I said I won't marry him!"
And with that, Yugveer slapped her hard. The sound echoed through the house. He screamed, "How dare you raise your voice at me? I'm your father, and what I say will happen!"
He continued, "Your engagement with Varun is in 10 days. No excuses. Otherwise, you'll see my worst side."
Watching this, Aniket and Kamini's eyes sparkled with satisfaction. They found comfort in Nisha's pain.
In truth, Yugveer's business was failing. He needed an investment, and Balwant Raheja had agreed to provide the money in exchange for marrying his son Varun to Nisha.
Varun liked Nisha, and Balwant fulfilled his son's every wish.
Everyone left the table except Nisha. Tears streamed down her face. She fell to her knees and wept uncontrollably. She missed her mother terribly that day. If she had been alive, maybe none of this would've happened
Nisha had always believed her father loved her. But today, she saw that he had chosen money over his daughter. After crying for a long time, she composed herself and quietly went back to her room.
