Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16

So many strands of thread stretching from someone's life story. The scattered puzzle pieces are now regaining their shape.

No one would have thought that a childhood friend could stab in the back. That is the sentence that is appropriate to be juxtaposed with Aurora.

Kalina did not believe her own eyes at all. She thought that Aurora and Zaki's relationship was only limited to colleagues, but it turned out to be much more than that.

She looked around, it looked cleaner, more maintained, far from the library room behind it.

In the room there was also a smaller bed, fit for two people, a wardrobe, a round table, several chairs, and various other furniture.

"Is someone living here?" Kalina asked herself when she saw traces of food and drink in the sink.

"What if-" Kalina was surprised by her own thoughts.

She ran a little towards the wardrobe near the bed. She opened both doors and was surprised again when she saw women's clothes hanging or folded there neatly.

Not only that, she also found branded bags, even luxury watches filling the room.

Once again Kalina was shocked when her gaze fell on the nightstand right next to the bed. There was a small frame complete with a photo of a couple embracing each other affectionately.

Again, again, and again Kalina had to swallow hard at the facts presented. Her hand reached out carrying the small frame.

She turned it over, and saw someone's handwriting, in the form of the date, month, year, and name.

"The twenty-eighth, September, the year two thousand and twenty-three, Aurora and Zaki when they visited the place where they first dated."

Instantly weak, blood circulated throughout the body producing extraordinary heat. Kalina fell to the side of the bed with the frame slumped on her lap.

It was Zaki and Aurora taking a selfie together with a waterfall in the background.

"Why do they have the heart to play with someone's feelings? What's wrong with Kanaya? What has this woman done to them?"

"Why does Kanaya have to endure such a hard life? Four months have passed, all this time I feel like Kanaya has always been locked up." "The body I occupy, somehow... I feel like I've known her for years. What really happened?"

The same question kept repeating itself, Kalina had yet to find the red destiny about why she had to switch roles with Kanaya.

She rambled to herself, crying for no reason imagining how ruined Kanaya's life was. Sympathy made Kalina pity Kanaya's tragic story.

Being lied to by her best friend and husband at the same time must not be easy to do. Kalina couldn't let them keep toying with Kanaya.

She wiped the clear, rough liquid. Her firm eyes stared straight ahead, "I have to free Kanaya from this hell. After all, who knows when we can return to our respective bodies... I hope that before that Kanaya can live her life peacefully without having to feel pain anymore."

Kalina put the figure back in its place and started exploring the room. She opened the drawers there, until she found another safe.

"Damn! Why do I have to find a safe? Is there something in here, like something that other people shouldn't know about?" she said, furious.

"What should I do? Argh! Why do people who live in this house always like to keep things in hard to find places? I don't understand rich people!" she ranted in annoyance, while ruffling his long hair.

Annoyed at not finding any clues to open the safe, Kalina left the room and the library at the same time.

She walked along the hallway towards the main room. Along the way, she kept taking deep breaths and letting them out slowly so that it wouldn't be obvious that she had found something surprising.

Seven minutes later, she arrived in the living room. Kalina saw several servants busy with their work.

The sky had changed, Kalina didn't realize it because she was so confused thinking about a way out regarding the safe and facts about Kanaya's husband, Zaki.

Her attention then turned to the piano that stood proudly beside the large window. Her feet stepped again and sat facing the classical musical instrument.

"What do you want to play, Honey?"

The familiar voice that had been heard for the past four months had always greeted her. Kalina raised her head to find Zaki and Aurora in front of her.

"I don't know... I've never played the piano before," Kalina answered curtly.

Zaki and Aurora were stunned, looking at each other, expressions of disbelief clearly depicted on both of them.

"Is that so? Aren't you very good at playing the piano? Even better than riding a horse," Aurora quipped, waking her up.

Kalina was stunned, her pair of eyes wide open. "Maybe because of amnesia, I forgot," she answered as calmly as possible.

"Um, right. Then let me remind you what you like," Zaki continued, sitting beside Kalina.

The bluish eyes rolled watching Aurora's expression. "I know, even though you're smiling now, actually... you're jealous, right, Aurora?" she thought.

"You really like this song." Zaki began to press the piano keys and produce soft music.

Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy played in the living room. Kalina, Zaki, and Aurona enjoyed the warm melody that flowed.

Smooth, will in feelings describe the peace of the soul as well as the darkness of a problem.

"You sang this song on our wedding day. At that time you said... you love me very much and... how lucky I am to be loved by you."

A sentence from Zaki surprised, Kalina turned to the right, Kanaya's husband looked charming.

His piano playing was so flexible and melodious. Kalina could imagine how Kanaya played it, maybe the woman was very happy, she thought.

Lost in the music being played, Kalina did not realize that a pair of eyes were watching. Aurora who was standing in front of them with her arms folded in front of her chest, scanned her.

"Somehow I feel that the Kanaya now... is not the Kanaya I know. Even though her memory is permanently lost, shouldn't her attitude and nature... still be the same? Who is she really?" Aurora's mind was full of suspicion.

"The Kanaya now is far from the gentle impression," she continued to think to herself.
