Chapter 4
I woke up feeling better than I have felt in the last few months.
My head felt lighter. I looked around, my eyes finally landed on the handsome stranger who had knocked me down last night sleeping peacefully on the hospital couch.
"Hmmpphh" I sighed as memories from last night tried flooding my head.
I sat up, looking at the clock , the time was 6am.
"My supposed wedding was today" I murmured as I shook my head in disbelief.
"You are awake" he mumbled walking towards me.
I nodded my head.
"How are you feeling now, hope you feel better?"
"I guess so " I replied
" I'll be heading to the doctor's office to clear the bills, you'll soon be discharged " he said.
"Oh, I see "
"Thank you" I said not sure if I really wanted to be discharged because I have no place to go.

He returned later with the doctor.
"Hello, miss " the doctor said
"Good morning doctor" I replied
He just smiled as he examined my body.
"Miss…?" The doctor stretched not sure what to call me.
"Aubrey Richard" i replied.
"Right, you'll be discharged in an hour time".
"Mr. Ray here, has cleared the bills, so he was wondering if he could go or reach out to your parents so they could know your way about". The doctor said.
"Ok, sure he can go, I'll sort myself out once I've been discharged. I replied
The doctor nodded before leaving the room.
"Are you sure, you'll be fine if I go?" Ray asked.
"Yes, sure".
"Ok, take good care of yourself miss Aubrey, I'm sorry for putting you through all this "
He sounded like someone not really sure of what he was doing.
"It's fine, it was never your fault in the first place"
"My driver will come pick you and drop you at you desired location once you get discharged " he said
" Thank you so much, so my friend hasn't replied till now?"
"No, she hasn't " He said.
"Your sister left already?" I asked recalling he was with a lady last night.
"Oh, you mean Lilah?, yeah she left early this morning " he responded
"Okay" was my short reply.
"I'll be on my way,miss Aubrey "
"Bye" I said as I watched him leave.

An hour later….
I was finally discharged from the hospital, I walked slowly, my movements cautious, as if every step might jar my fragile state. My neck was wrapped in layers of bandages, visible beneath my scarf. Bruises painted my skin with shades of purple and blue, a painful reminder of the accident.
My eyes seemed to hold a mix of pain and resilience. Despite the visible injuries, i moved forward, determined. The bandages served as a visible reminder of my journey toward healing. I was tired, weak and exhausted but I acted up so strong that everyone around me thought I was fine.
Ray sent his driver to pick me up as promised.
I gave him Mia's address because I didn't want to go back to the same house that reminded me of Williams.
We finally got to Mia's place, I thanked the driver as I highlighted from the car.
Mia came out as soon as she saw me coming down from the car.
"Aubrey!" she screamed shocked to see me at the state which I was in.
"What happened to you?"
She asked with a concerned look.
"Mia, just take me inside I'll explain later"
I said.
She hesitated a bit before gently pulling my hands and taking me inside.
