Chapter 14 - This Wasn't in the Script...

The moment Adrien stepped onto the rooftop, he froze.

He had came there to discuss about the script (the play their school was going to conduct in 2 weeks).

Because there, under strings of fairy lights, nestled in a beanbag and sharing a milk tea — were Marinette and Kagami.

Not near each other.

Not casually chatting.

No.

Kagami had her fingers curled into Marinette's hoodie pocket. Marinette was leaning just enough against her side that it didn't look like a joke. They were both flushed, smiling in that way people did when no one else was supposed to see.

And Adrien felt like his brain blue-screened.

"Oh," he said, loudly.

Marinette JUMPED like someone had set off a car alarm.

"A-Adrien?! What—how—what are you doing here?!"

He held up his phone, eyes wide. "Nino said you had the new rehearsal schedule…"

Marinette scrambled up, trying to smooth her hair. Kagami stood calmly behind her like nothing had happened — except her eyes were watching Adrien very closely.

Adrien blinked. Once. Twice.

He looked at Marinette.

Then Kagami.

Then Marinette again.

And said:

"So… are you two, um… rehearsing too?"

Silence.

Then Marinette whisper-squeaked: "Kind of?"

Adrien's brain threw up its hands and quit.

Later, walking away in a daze, Adrien muttered to himself:

"Why am I… jealous? Of who? Of what?"

He shook his head like a cartoon character. "I have feelings for Luka. I kissed Luka. So why do I suddenly feel like I lost something?"

His heart didn't answer.

SCENE ONE: Drama room. Final rehearsal. Empty auditorium.

Luka stood center stage, guitar slung behind him, arms crossed in costume.Adrien walked out, sword prop at his hip, tension humming off his frame like static.

They were supposed to be rehearsing a duel between rivals.

Instead?

It was dripping with undertones.

The script said:

"You stole what was mine.""It was never yours to take."

Simple.

But the way Luka stepped forward — slow, measured, eyes locked on Adrien like he was a puzzle he wanted to solve with his hands — turned it into something else.

The way Adrien held eye contact too long, voice dropping lower than necessary — not helping.

When Luka circled him, Adrien's breath caught. His fingers twitched at his side like he didn't know where to put them.

"You can't control everything," Luka said, voice dark and quiet, like a threat laced with affection.

"And you can't make me forget," Adrien answered.

Then Luka grabbed Adrien's wrist (stage direction — totally planned) —but the way his thumb brushed the inside of Adrien's palm?Absolutely not in the script.

Adrien's knees almost gave out.

From the wings, Marinette watched — face bright red, mouth slightly open, completely forgetting to call cue lines.

Kagami, standing beside her, leaned down and whispered:

"You're drooling."

Marinette squeaked.

Back on stage, Luka leaned in, voice practically a purr:

"Then stop pretending you don't feel it."

The lights shifted.

Adrien's line was supposed to be shouted.

Instead, he whispered:

"What if I don't want to?"

Director yelled "CUT!"

No one moved.

Everyone watching? Dead silent.

A student in the third row: "...Are they actually dating?"

Another: "I don't know but I'm invested."

(Adrien.exe not responding)

Backstage.

Adrien: pacing, blushing, muttering.

Luka: sipping tea like nothing just happened.

"You—what was that?!" Adrien demanded, gesturing wildly.

Luka blinked innocently. "Rehearsal?"

"That was not rehearsal. You touched me like I was—like I was—"

"Yours?"

Adrien made a noise that sounded like a broken violin and turned red down to his collarbones.

Marinette (hiding behind curtain): full body blushing meltdown.

Kagami handed her a cold drink wordlessly.
