"Why...?" He started to ask but swallowed his question.
"What do you have to say? Why did you behave that way toward him?" I yelled.
But he didn't respond; he stayed quiet. His silence only fueled my anger, and before I could stop myself, I was climbing the stairs.
I no longer wanted to see his face. But he came after me.
"I'm sorry, I just didn't know how to react to him. I'm..."
I reached my room and entered; he tried to follow me in, but I slammed the door in his face and locked it. Then I leaned against it.
"Linnea," he called, starting to knock. "I'm sorry. If you want me to apologize to your friend, I'll do that right away."
"I'll apologize through the phone or... Wait, I don't think he's gone yet; I'll go to him immediately." Footsteps retreated, and silence followed.
I waited a few seconds before unlocking the door. Is he really going to Daniel?
I hope he didn't go there to threaten the poor boy. I need to make sure he's apologizing, not threatening him, as he said.
