"What did you just say?" She asked, turning to look at me.
"You heard me, Mom," I groaned.
"Did you just threaten me? You threatened your mother?" She scoffed. I stayed quiet.
"You'll report it to Beta Benjamin?"
"Yes," I mumbled. "You heard me; I'll tell him that your husband is still alive, and I might even lie and say you've been secretly meeting with him. I wonder what he'll do once he discovers your secret," I hummed.
"How dare you?!" She picked up my wine and poured it on me. Her actions drew attention to us.
People began whispering among themselves as they watched. Their murmuring only added to Mom's anger.
I didn't say another word. I reached into my purse, took out a hanky, and dabbed my face.
She sat down again, fuming.
"Have you decided to stay?" I looked at her, but she was too angry to speak.
