As Maya and Azazel stood together, Maya felt a sense of calm wash over her. She knew that she had Azazel's protection, and that together, they could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
But as they walked out of the library, Maya couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced around, noticing the students milling about on campus, but she didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Azazel seemed to sense her unease, and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. "Don't worry, my love," he said. "I'll always be here to protect you."
Maya smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Azazel. She knew that she could rely on him, and that he would do everything in his power to keep her safe.
As they walked across campus, Maya noticed that the atmosphere seemed to be growing more tense. The students seemed more agitated, and the air was thick with an almost palpable sense of unease.
Suddenly, Azazel's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at the screen, his expression darkening. "It's Xorvath," he said, his voice low and menacing. "He's sending us a message."
Maya's heart skipped a beat as Azazel showed her the message. It was a single sentence, cold and calculating: "You'll never be safe."
Maya felt a shiver run down her spine. She knew that Xorvath was determined to hurt her, and that she had to be constantly on guard.
But with Azazel by her side, she felt a sense of determination. She was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, and she knew that together, they could overcome anything.
"What do we do now?" Maya asked, her voice firm and resolute.
Azazel's eyes locked onto hers, filled with a fierce determination. "We prepare for battle," he said. "We won't let Xorvath win."
Maya nodded, feeling a sense of resolve wash over her. She was ready to face whatever lay ahead, as long as Azazel was by her side.
As Azazel and Maya prepared for battle, they knew that they had to be strategic. They couldn't just rush into things without a plan. Azazel began to pace back and forth, his mind racing with ideas.
"We need to gather intelligence on Xorvath's plans," Azazel said, his eyes narrowing. "We need to know what he's capable of, and what his weaknesses are."
Maya nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. Azazel suddenly thought of a friend who might help them.
"I think I might know someone who can help us," he said. "A friend of mine has some connections in the supernatural world. Maybe she can give us some information about Xorvath."
Maya's eyes lit up with interest. "Let's go talk to her," she said. "We can't afford to waste any time."
Azazel nodded, and together they set off to meet Azazel's friend. As they walked, Maya couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. She knew that this could be the key to taking down Xorvath, but she also knew that it was a risk.
When they arrived at Azazel's friend's place, they were greeted by a warm and welcoming smile. Azazel's friend, Sophia, listened intently as Maya and Azazel explained their situation.
"I know someone who might be able to help you," Sophia said, her eyes sparkling with interest. "But you have to be careful. Xorvath is not someone to be trifled with."
Maya and Azazel exchanged a look, their determination growing. They were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, and they knew that they could count on each other.
As they left Sophia's place, Maya felt a sense of hope that she hadn't felt in a long time. Maybe, just maybe, they could take down Xorvath and live a normal life.
But as they walked away, Maya couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced over her shoulder, but saw nothing. Still, the feeling persisted.
"I think we're being followed," Maya said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Azazel's eyes scanned the surroundings, his senses on high alert. "Let's get out of here," he said. "We don't know what we're up against."
Maya nodded, and together they quickened their pace, their hearts pounding in unison. They knew that they had to be careful, but they also knew that they couldn't back down now. The battle against Xorvath had begun, and they were ready to face whatever lay ahead.
As they walked, the feeling of being watched only grew stronger. Maya could feel eyes on her, boring into her skin. She quickened her pace, her heart racing with anticipation.
Suddenly, Azazel grabbed her arm and pulled her into a nearby alleyway. "Stay close," he whispered, his eyes scanning the surrounding area.
Maya's heart was pounding in her chest as she pressed herself against the wall, trying to blend in with the shadows. Azazel stood in front of her, his eyes fixed on the entrance of the alleyway.
As they waited, a figure emerged from the darkness. It was a woman with long, flowing hair and piercing green eyes. She was dressed in a flowing black dress that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight.
"Well, well, well," she said, her voice husky and seductive. "Look what we have here. The king of the underworld and his little mate."
Maya felt a surge of anger at the woman's words, but Azazel's grip on her arm tightened, holding her back.
"Who are you?" Azazel demanded, his voice cold and menacing.
The woman smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "My name is Lilith," she said. "And I'm here to offer you a deal."
Maya's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. What kind of deal could this woman possibly offer? And what did she want in return?
Azazel's eyes locked onto Lilith's, his expression unreadable. "What kind of deal?" he asked, his voice cautious.
Lilith's smile grew wider, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, I think we can come to some sort of arrangement," she said. "But first, let's talk about what you want. You want to defeat Xorvath, don't you?"
Maya's eyes widened in surprise. How did Lilith know about Xorvath? And what did she have to do with him?
Azazel's grip on Maya's arm tightened, his eyes never leaving Lilith's face. "What do you know about Xorvath?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.
Lilith's laughter echoed through the alleyway, sending shivers down Maya's spine. "Oh, I know a lot about Xorvath," she said. "And I'm willing to share that information with you... for a price."
