Chapter 80 - Zayne's Character Development

"That's enough destruction for the day. I'll end you myself."

Zayne's voice echoed coldly across the battlefield, carrying both anger and resolve.

As his crimson eyes swept over the ruined cityscape—collapsed buildings, shattered streets, scorched earth—while his single hand held back the spinning drill of the Drago-Megazord, something twisted painfully in his chest.

I was careless… utterly foolish, he admitted inwardly.

Perhaps it was the tension. Or the intoxicating ecstasy of becoming a Ranger. Or finally being able to live out the fantasy he once only read about and watched on screens. Somewhere along the way, he had forgotten the most important thing.

The mission of a Ranger.

It wasn't just about fighting.

It wasn't about levels, upgrades, or cool weapons.

It wasn't about becoming stronger for the sake of strength.

It was about protecting the weak.

Unknowingly, Zayne had been looking at this world as if he didn't belong to it. As if everyone else were just NPCs—characters in a game or movie he had already seen before transmigrating. But this wasn't fiction. This was a real world. These were real people. They had families. Dreams. Loved ones.

Because of his so-called "test" and forced growth of the Dino Thunder Rangers, hundreds had lost their lives to the terror of the battlefield.

That truth weighed heavily on him.

Enough, Zayne thought.

It was time to stop acting like a self-obsessed protagonist.

It was time to act like a true Ranger.

A beacon of hope.

With a snort, Zayne pushed the spinning drill away—this time using twice the force it had attacked with.

SWISHHH!!!

The Drago-Megazord was launched backward, skidding violently across the ground for dozens of meters. Inside the cockpit, the White Ranger's eyes widened in genuine terror.

The Megazord slammed into the earth.

BOOM!!!

Dust, rubble, and debris billowed into the sky.

Seeing the devastation, Zayne raised his hand slightly and activated one of his few restorative abilities.

"Innocence," he uttered softly.

A gentle yet overwhelmingly powerful wave of energy rippled outward from him, washing over the entire city block. Cracked roads repaired themselves. Buildings reassembled brick by brick. Broken infrastructure reconnected seamlessly. Dead plants regained vibrant life.

Even the wounded—those on the brink of death, those suffering from old injuries—felt their pain vanish as their bodies were restored.

Most importantly, the Dino Thunder Megazord was fully repaired. Connor and Ethan's injuries disappeared instantly, their stamina restored to full.

The skill was terrifyingly powerful, even at B-Rank. And worse—it was a growth-type skill.

Someday… it might even revive the dead.

But today wasn't that day.

Zayne clenched his fist subtly.

There was nothing he could do for the civilians who had already died.

That blame rested on him alone.

On the surface, Gwen and Peter paused mid-rescue as they noticed their torn suits and aching bodies suddenly return to perfect condition.

"What the—?" Gwen muttered, staring at her healed arm.

Peter flexed his fingers. "Okay… either I just leveled up, or a god is having a really good day."

Even the civilians they had just rescued felt the effects.

Whispers spread.

Was it divine intervention?

If they knew it was only one person… the shock would have been unimaginable.

While hope surged through the battlefield, chaos reigned within Trent's mind.

Confusion. Disgrace. Humiliation.

How… how did this happen?

How could he—the future sole source of the Grid—be tossed around like a dog?

This wasn't how it was supposed to go.

Where was the destruction he caused?

Why was the city… restored?

Who am I?

Where am I?

Even the Drago-Megazord beneath him was damaged.

Zayne paid him no attention.

Even if he knew what Trent was thinking, he wouldn't care. Words were meaningless to someone he intended to destroy.

The Drago-Megazord stood up once more, systems screaming in protest. Inside the cockpit, the White Ranger stared at the Omni-Ranger cautiously.

Arrogant though he was, he wasn't stupid.

This Ranger… was stronger.

Still, he sneered, trying to provoke him—to pry out weaknesses.

"Who are you," the White Ranger demanded, "to dare attack me?"

"I could pulverize you where you stand," he added, his tone arrogant and conceited.

Zayne didn't respond.

But inwardly, he sighed.

Do villains really need all this dialogue?

The silence only enraged Trent further.

"How dare this newbie ignore me!"

Summoning his Megazord sword, the White Ranger pointed it directly at Zayne, his gaze icy.

"I've seen people like you—arrogant, full of themselves."

The universe itself seemed to pause.

The readers: Aren't you even more arrogant?

"But in the end," Trent continued, "they're all just bigger ants. And every one of them met their end by my blade."

Zayne raised an eyebrow, a faint smirk forming beneath his helmet.

"Don't you know ants lift more than their body weight?"

The White Ranger blinked.

"…What?"

Facts had no place in his monologue.

Before he could reply, Zayne vanished.

In an instant, he reappeared at the legs of the Drago-Megazord.

He reached forward.

"What—"

Too late.

Zayne lifted the entire 100-meter-tall Megazord off the ground.

The battlefield went silent.

(A/N: Remember, Zayne is C-Rank now. The Megazord itself is only D+.)

He spun it once… and hurled it into the air.

Inside the cockpit, Trent felt weightlessness consume him as the Megazord tumbled uncontrollably.

Zayne leapt upward, matching its descent, and drove a devastating punch into its chest.

BAAM!!!

The Drago-Megazord cracked violently.

Trent screamed as pain tore through his soul.

"AAAAAHHH!!!"

The Megazord plummeted to the ground—but miraculously, no surrounding damage occurred.

The Innocence skill was still active.

Connor and Ethan stared in disbelief.

"He's even stronger than before…" Connor whispered. "How can I ever catch up?"

He clenched his fists.

No. I'll work harder.

Zayne descended, his leg arcing downward in a brutal hammer kick.

BOOM!!!

The Megazord shattered further.

Inside, Trent ripped off his helmet, face pale as blood sprayed from his mouth.

"Ptttt—!"

It splattered onto the cockpit floor.

"Damn… this bastard is strong," he muttered hoarsely.

But he couldn't stop.

He wouldn't stop.

He hadn't become the sole source yet.

His envy burned hotter than ever.

That power… he wanted it.

No one else deserved it.

Fueled by twisted determination, the Megazord forced itself upright once more.

But before Trent could act, two massive green hands wrapped around it from behind.

"What now?!" he cursed.

Turning, he saw the giant Green Goblin—somehow still alive.

Tenacious, he thought darkly.

A plan formed instantly.

He would use this ugly creature as a shield.

Zayne noticed the Goblin's revival and frowned slightly.

Astonished that a street-level villain had reached this level.

Worried… that Norman Osborn might still be alive.

"Mesogog really messed him up, huh," Zayne muttered, tilting his head.

Activating his Morpher, he scanned the Goblin.

A panel appeared.

[Name]: Norman Osborn

[Current Persona]: Green Goblin (Secondary Personality)

[Status]: Malicious yet confused

[Summary]: A lost soul infused with Dino Mutagen. Currently being absorbed by the secondary personality. Can be saved, but the entire body must be destroyed at an identical wavelength of power.]

Zayne exhaled slowly.

Relief.

At least the man could still be saved.

He wasn't evil by nature—just desperate.

"…Still," Zayne muttered, "he's going to jail after this. Human experimentation is a hard no."

While Zayne processed this, the White Ranger acted.

With ease, he exerted mental control over the Goblin.

"Attack!!"

The Goblin's eyes flared with madness.

ROARRR!!!!

It stomped forward, shadow looming over Zayne.

BAAM!!!

Zayne caught the massive foot effortlessly.

With a twist, he hurled the Goblin aside, sending it crashing to the ground.

"Useless!" Trent spat.

He lunged forward, Megazord lance thrusting toward Zayne.

Zayne summoned his Omni-Saber and parried the strike cleanly.

A small saber… against a colossal lance.

The impact forced Trent back several meters.

Zayne barely moved.

Then chaos erupted.

Clang! Clang!! BAAM!!!

Weapons clashed. Fists collided. Shockwaves tore through the air at supersonic speed.

Explosions lit the sky like fireworks.

Enough, Zayne decided.

"Time to end the Goblin."

"Summon Megalodon Zord—upgraded form."

A portal split the sky open.

The Megalodon emerged—majestic, ferocious, radiating overwhelming power.

"All fear," Zayne said calmly, "comes from insufficient firepower."

The White Ranger recoiled in fear.

"Goblin, help!!!" he screamed.

The Goblin rushed forward, shielding him.

Zayne raised his hand.

"Final Shark Attack."

The Megalodon gathered Omni-Force at its maw.

"Fire."

Ziiing!!!

The beam obliterated the Goblin completely—pulverizing its mutated form into dust.

From the light, Norman Osborn's human body emerged, falling freely.

Gwen and Peter shot forward, catching him mid-air.

The White Ranger staggered back, horrified.

But beneath the fear… envy bloomed.

That power.

He wanted it.

His aura flared violently—white energy erupting around him.

Zayne scanned him instantly.

[Name]: Trent Mercer

[Status]: Power Amplified (Temporary)

[Affliction]: Sin of Envy

[Summary]: Morpher corrupted by Envy-based Grid contamination. Obsessive desire to dominate and become the sole Ranger. Target is salvageable.]

Zayne's eyes narrowed.

So that's it…

Kira isn't just fighting Trent.

She's fighting the source of the Sin itself, in the grid.

I hope she succeeds

He lowered his weapon.

He wouldn't destroy him.

But he would still show him tough love. He wasn't as benevolent as the Dino Thunder Rangers.

The White Ranger attacked. His form erratic and filled with madness

Zayne activated his skill.

"Apocalypse Descent."

He struck his fist forward.

The Megalodon turned illusory, charged forward as it brimmed with Omni-force—striking with unstoppable force.

BOOM!!!

The Drago-Megazord was dismantled completely.

Trent fell.

The Drago-Zord and Ankylo-Zord fell after

'Trent' intended to get up. Fighting till the very end. He couldn't accept another Ranger being stronger than him.

"Why you? Why not me? I deserve this power, not you. It should have been me. Not you"

He roared with impotent rage.

Zayne shook his head at the pathetic display of desperation

He knocked him out cold.

"I'll wait for Kira to deal with you herself."
