Gurgle~
Chaira stopped near a dark alley, not caring about her stomach that was gurgling for some time now, entering this dark alley that would not even make the most daring person to enter because of the extreme gloom hovering on the atmosphere.
Chaira was feeling complicated, especially after sensing the man wearing a hoodie still chose to follow her for a long time.
A stalker? Or a serial killer?
It does not matter though; she can always solve problems regarding things that could threaten her safety in this life. But she was here to adopt the strays of her past lives, she could not guarantee that she could provide ultimate protection when this man chose to take the kids as hostage.
Tap…
Tap..
Tap.
The heel of her slipper sandal echoed through the silent alley. It was quite creepy to hear for some, but for two consecutive lives Chaira surrounded herself with eeriness, she is used to it.
She looked at her back first, before her eyes widened in surprise, seeing that the man in a hoodie disappeared.
But Chaira focused her attention on other things as she entered the deepest part of this alley that was so dark even if the sky is still bright, she finally saw the two people she was waiting for.
The two little figures huddling close to each other, with the bigger figure breaking a piece of the sandwich and giving the larger piece to the small figure tightly wrapped up by an old large black jacket that Chaira knows very well where it came from.
"This is our only food today Yena, I'm sorry," the little boy put the larger piece of dirty sandwich on the little girl's hand, saying with lowered head, down casted.
"It's okay big brother! I will be full of this!" Yena hurriedly stuffed the sandwich to her mouth, choking on the process. The little boy hurriedly gives a half mineral bottle to her sister to drink.
That is what Chaira heard and witnessed when she came closer to the two siblings.
She stopped on her footsteps as she squinted her eyes. These guys… So, the things that the paparazzi's said about these two top stars is true in her second life, but more heartbreaking than the news that was deliberately twisted from the truth.
The two little figures finally noticed Chaira as the older boy shielded his sister on his back and looked at her with a vigilant look.
Chaira gently smiled at them, but it even made the older boy more vigilant and Yena who peeked at her visibly trembled and hid behind his brother again.
Oh… right.
These two won't survive that long in the entertainment industry at such an immature age if they are not vigilant towards everything.
Chaira immediately changed her face as she expressionlessly looked at them, but there was still a harmless smile hanging in her dark eyes, but it even made the two sensitive little guys to be more vigilant and wary of the big sister who changes her expression fast.
"Are you still hungry?" she finally asked, but what met her was only silence.
Chaira did not care, still continuing to speak after glancing at Yena who once again peeked at her and hid after being caught. Chaira touched her stomach and continued to speak after a gurgling noise sounded in the quiet alley with the little figure huddled in front of her, vigilant, and confused, "I'm quite hungry, would you like to come and eat with me?"
The little boy who heard it changed his face but was still hesitant, but the girl who kept peeking at Chaira face already had bright eyes, greedy for food visible on her little dirty face, her small little hand kept tugging at her big brother's tattered clothes.
Chaira lips curled up seeing Yena letting her guard down at the mention of food. Now, it's the tough little boy's turn.
"Will you?" Chaira asked but the little boy only glared at her, "Why? Why do you want to treat us to a meal?"
Seeing the look on the little boy's face, Chaira finally cannot dilly dally any longer. She crouched down, matching the height of the little boy standing straight, still blocking his small sister from behind.
"Because I want to adopt you two," what she said obviously made the boy stunned as the little girl hiding behind her big brother peeked at her again but did not hide behind again when she got caught. Her dark eyes curiously looked at her, also confused and.. excited.
The boy snapped out of his dazed state, still stunned as he questioned what Chaira just said, "Why would you want to adopt us? We are begg---" Chaira cut him off as she smiled brightly, eyes twinkling but with a sinister light that made the two kids looking at her intently to step backwards, "Because we are the same!"
The little boy was quite angry after receiving such response, when Yena who was keeping quiet the whole time was the first one to snap out.
"How could we be the same? We are ugly and dirty, you are pretty and clean," Yena who was hiding behind her brother muttered lowly under her breath with pursed lips, but it was enough for Chaira to hear.
Silence greeted them after Yena words fell, but Chaira did not care. She stared at the two kids in front of her, smiling softly, "You are not ugly, and you can be clean in no time. Just take a shower" raising her hand a little bit, she was about to rub the little boy head when her hand froze in midair after he flinched.
Oh right.
That familiar subconscious response.
Chaira already knows that these kids, really suffered too much.
"I'm abandoned too by my parents, aren't we the same?" resentment flashed past the little boy eyes when he heard her mentioning abandonment. But Chaira did not care, she stood up and looked down at the two little figures that raised their head to follow along and look at her.
"So, are you willing to be adopted by me? I don't have anyone, you don't have anyone. When I adopt you, I have you and you have me, isn't it a good deal for you? We can have each other back. Isn't it great?"
The little boy heart raced faster, realizing that there seemed to be a glow behind the big sister wanting to be their mom. Yena who was hiding behind, has her ears pricking because of what Chaira said, eyes turning red.
They… wanted to hug this big sister.
The boy pursed his lips and finally nodded after looking at his sister nodding with pitiful red eyes, "Okay."
Chaira eyes widened, she never thought that the little boy would agree so simply, she thought it would take a long time for this little guy to agree just basing his vigilant stance until now.
The little boy who happened to see the surprise look in Chaira face was embarrassed, his dirty cheeks turned red as he was about to say something but was held back by his sister. Chaira turned expressionless again, but by the way her lips kept twitching, the little boy who was particularly sensitive to people emotions knew that this big sister was holding on her laugh.
"Let's go eat now then," she said with a stifled laugh, making the little boy red cheeks turned even redder as Yena who was hiding behind finally came out and jumped a little bit two times, extremely happy.
The man who disappeared from Chair sight but was hiding far away seeing this scene, pursed his lips tightly. His eyes dark, as a deadly smoke kept swirling at his fingertips, ready to be thrown at the kids who received Chaira care and smiles just after she arrived.
'Un..forgivable,' he muttered crookedly in a deep voice, clenching his long dark nails, letting it embed on his dark veiny dry skin.
'She's mine.'
