Chapter 4 - Once upon a time... - 4

He was standing, his eyes were watery, his feet were aching, and fear filled his heart, so he did not dare to answer for fear that if he spoke he would cry out and just kept looking at a certain point on the ground....

The grandfather spoke again, ignoring his silence

- Do you hate me? Well, I know you do, I'm not saying you have to like me, I don't like you or your brother, it's just that I'm plagued with you because of your father's foolishness.

- .....

He did not answer, and for a moment the grandfather did not speak either, looking at him,

blood-red eyes that made him look like a ruby floating on a white lake, soft white hair that made him even more charming, white skin that was unbecoming of men because it was so white, then very thin, whoever saw him would think he was in a famine, a thinness that obliterated all other signs of beauty, a mystery that puzzled everyone why this child who eats what seven men eat in a day looks like this.

The grandfather sighed, removed his gaze, rose from his seat and advanced until he stood in front of Cel with his hands behind his back, he spoke in a dry tone with no trace of mercy in his voice.

- Your punishment this time is that I will send Cassian to a boarding academy, now go to your room, I won't even let you say goodbye to him and until you feel even more guilty, Cass will be alone in that dark room.

Cel looked at him in shock, his eyes wide open and the tears couldn't hold back any longer as they flowed freely down his cheeks, he shouted with pain in his voice.

- Don't take my brother away from me...

His grandfather's gaze never softened, like a lifeless boulder, despite Cel apologizing in a heart-wrenching tone,

- I swear I won't make any more trouble, don't take my brother away. Grandfather, please give me another chance, I swear.....

- Go to your room, Cecil.

- Grandfather...

Without listening to his pleas, the grandfather shouted to a maid who was waiting at the door, who entered and complied with grandfather's order to take Cel to his room.

After closing the door after Cel, who was still screaming and begging, he muttered boredly as he walked to another door leading to his bedroom

- Maybe it would do him good to get away from his brother, maybe it would straighten him out a bit...

Even if his intentions weren't that bad

Even if he didn't realize how much sadness resided in this child's heart

Even if he didn't realize the lava that this boy's heart poured

He caused the collapse of this child's world with his careless words, and his foolish arrogance in giving a punishment that he did not calculate the consequences.

From the moment he entered his room, this child stood stunned in the center of the room, his mind in complete disarray.

For a child whose only person in the world is his brother, having his brother taken away from him is like having life taken away from his heart and logic taken away from his head, after all, he is only a child of eleven winters.

An hour and a few hours later, Cel waited until the eerie silence of the big house had descended and still standing there unconsciously, he looked at the clock and saw that it was four o'clock

Isn't that the best time for a crime?

This is what he read in all crime novels, and this is the time tacitly agreed upon by criminals.

Following in the footsteps of his mentors of criminals from the world of fiction, Cel left his room, it seems that he was not in punishment since his greatest punishment was to keep his brother away from him and the door was not locked, so he came out of his room and stood in the center of the reception hall

Maybe it was the cold, or the fear, or the tension of the situation, his limbs and even his whole body shaking uncontrollably, yet he continued on, bypassing the reception hall and heading to the kitchen.

He sneaked into the storeroom inside the kitchen and took out the fuel and then poured it on the floor that was decorated with a carpet, it was something he had seen many times in movies and games, and often read about it in novels, and to make sure that his goal was successful, he went to the stove and opened the gas in every eye and then took the lighter and opened it and as soon as he did until a small fire ignited in it without extinguishing it, so while standing at the door he threw the lighter where he previously poured the fuel and the fire rose and began to spread madly.

He was stunned, even though he had planned it in his head, but with the success of what he had planned, he was stunned and self-deprecating in his fear, so he stepped back and his whole body was shaking madly and he was whispering like he was hallucinating.

- I didn't respond like that, I... It's not my fault... It's not my fault.

He looked around with tears silently pouring from his eyes, and he remembered his brother, yes like every time he will find safety only in his brother, so he rushed to that room that contains between its dark walls his brother, he saw the key hanging in its place on the wall next to the door and before he came up with what helps him reach the key, the sound of an explosion shook the corners of the house and for its intensity the key fell to the floor and so did Cel because the impact of the fall hit his head hard on the wall which made him injured but not even he felt pain because of the adrenaline rush...

Although the room is set up so that he doesn't feel cold or sick because he and his brother are often locked in here, but to make it more of a punishment than a room change, this room is very dark with no light in it, and lonely with no furniture except two iron beds.

At the sound of a loud explosion, Cass got up, startled, and cried out, in an involuntary reaction, in the name of the butler.

- Richard.... Anybody there? What's going on?... Richard
