Chapter 106 - 106

Eira's pov 

He walked away like we never mattered. Like the years meant nothing. Like we were nothing.

The crunch of gravel under Malrick's boots was the last sound I heard before my world cracked in half.

I didn't scream. I didn't run after him.

I just stood there, watching his back get smaller and smaller, the burn in my chest spreading like wildfire. And then,Kira's legs gave out beside me. She hit the floor too fast. Too silent.

"Kira!" I dropped to my knees just as Draven shouted for help.

The others moved. I didn't. Not at first. I stayed still, numb, while bodies rushed around me. The paramedics burst in, barking orders and dragging the gurney closer. Someone checked her pulse. Someone else started an oxygen mask. But all I could see was her pale face… and his back disappearing into the distance.

"Miss...Miss Eira?"

A medic touched my shoulder. I flinched like I'd been shot. Draven stepped in.

"I've got her," he said sharply, brushing the man aside.
