Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sound of fists and gravity clashing echoed through Marineford like thunder.
Zephyr's battle spirit surged to a new level.
Though he fought with intensity, Zephyr remained fully aware of Kyle's condition. There was still a clear gap between them—if this were a true fight to the death, Kyle wouldn't stand a chance. Zephyr wouldn't allow that to happen. But make no mistake, he was taking this battle very seriously.
The duel between Zephyr and Kyle shook the entire plaza. It felt like Marineford Square itself might collapse at any moment.
Marines were thrown off their feet by the aftershocks—only the strongest officers managed to stand their ground. The elite watched closely, not just to witness Zephyr's might, but to truly understand what this new recruit, Kyle, was capable of.
And what they saw was shocking.
He wasn't just holding his own—he was making Zephyr work for it.
"This guy's not just some lucky rookie…"
"Seaman First Class is way too low for him."
"It looks like the promotion system at headquarters needs a serious update."
---
Meanwhile, high above the square…
In the Fleet Admiral's office, nestled in the towering building overlooking Marineford, stood Marshal Kong. The massive man with a mohawk and barrel chest stood on the balcony, arms crossed, muscles bulging, observing the chaos unfolding below.
The view from his office was the best in all of Marineford—a prime observation point for the leaders of the Navy.
Another shockwave rippled through the plaza, and a huge cloud of dust exploded into the sky. Kong frowned.
"What the hell is Zephyr doing? Making a mess of my square like that?" he muttered.
Fleet Admiral Sengoku, seated nearby, sipped his tea with a calm expression. "He's testing someone," Sengoku said. "That's Kyle—the new recruit who ate the Gravity Devil Fruit."
Kong raised an eyebrow.
Sengoku continued, voice laced with dry sarcasm. "It's already been over ten minutes, and Zephyr still hasn't ended it. Either Kyle's stronger than we thought, or Zephyr's finally getting old."
He chuckled to himself, adding, "Maybe both."
Though Sengoku didn't spell it out, his tone said enough—Kyle had serious potential.
Even Zephyr, in all his strength, hadn't managed to wrap things up quickly. That said something.
When the battle with Golden Lion Shiki had erupted not long ago, Sengoku had underestimated Kyle. Aside from his Devil Fruit, Kyle hadn't shown anything that really stood out.
But now?
Now he was forced to reevaluate everything.
---
"Kyle?"
The voice came from the corner of the room.
Vice Admiral Garp stood with his arms folded, eyes squinting toward the battlefield.
Though officially a vice admiral, everyone in the room knew Garp had refused multiple promotions to admiral, to Kong's endless frustration.
But Garp didn't care. He lived on his own terms.
At this point in time, Garp was still training his son, Monkey D. Dragon—later known as the infamous leader of the Revolutionary Army. But right now, Dragon (or Dorag, as he was sometimes called) was still a vice admiral himself, quietly rising in strength.
While the likes of Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru held flashy reputations and official titles, Dragon was different. He stayed under the radar. His refusal to play the political game meant his name rarely came up in official matters—even though his strength was undeniable.
He already had a codename—like all high-ranking marines—but unlike others, he simply didn't use it. Over time, people just stopped mentioning it.
But now, with the Wind-Wind Logia in his possession, trained under Garp himself, Dragon's latent power had become something terrifying.
In fact, Garp had taken more than a few beatings during their training sessions.
"That kid's got a freakish ability..." Garp muttered under his breath.
All things considered, Garp hadn't paid much attention to this "Kyle" character. He'd been too busy with his son.
But now?
Now his interest was piqued.
---
"Seems like the rookie's got some real bite," someone said.
Over the next few minutes, Sengoku gave Garp a breakdown of Kyle's recent exploits—his involvement in the Shiki battle, his control over gravity, and now his swordsmanship and Observation Haki.
It all painted a very different picture from the one they had when Kyle first arrived.
And Kong?
Kong listened to it all in silence, his expression unreadable. But in his mind, a decision had already begun to form.
This boy… this Kyle… could be something special.
The moment the Gravity Fruit had reappeared, it was enough to warrant attention. But now?
Now Kyle had proven that he wasn't just a lucky fruit eater. He had technique. He had power. And more importantly—he had the will to fight a monster like Zephyr without fear.
Just then—
Knock knock.
A knock came at the office door.
Kong grunted. "Come in."
The door creaked open, and in stepped Tea Dolphin, a rear admiral with a reputation for strict discipline and sharp observation.
"Marshal Kong," he said, bowing slightly, "I have an urgent report regarding Recruit Kyle."
All eyes turned to him.
And thus, the legend continued to grow.
