"The King of Swords...?"
Hearing Shuna's address, Shirou Emiya immediately understood why the three of them were gathered here, discussing so seriously.
After all, that was a Campione.
In this world, no amount of caution toward a Campione could be considered excessive.
"Salvatore Doni, right?" Shirou Emiya sighed lightly. "To be honest, I really don't want to get involved with him."
He was already familiar with the King of Swords.
A sword fanatic through and through.
That alone was enough to give anyone a headache.
"If Lord Salvatore appears," Erica said calmly, "his goal will probably be to fight you, Lord Shirou."
"That's just how he is."
She and Liliana had met him before. Before their magical societies were forcibly incorporated under Shirou Emiya, they had technically been under Salvatore Doni's authority.
No one understood his temperament better than they did.
"Fighting, huh..."
Shirou Emiya leaned back slightly.
"I really don't feel like doing that right now."
After two consecutive intense battles, he had no interest in another pointless clash. Fighting Salvatore Doni offered no real benefit. Winning wouldn't grant him any Authority, and losing would be annoying beyond measure.
Not that he believed he would lose.
But still.
After thinking for a moment, Shirou Emiya gave his decision.
"You two, go prepare for departure immediately."
"We're leaving."
"I want to avoid that plague and head to the European continent."
He stood up.
"It's time for our journey through Europe to begin."
Since he had no concrete leads on Hephaestus, the only option left was to search. He would have to visit ruins associated with Hephaestus across the world and wait for something to respond.
"Yes, understood!"
Erica and Liliana didn't hesitate.
They already knew their next destination.
The moment Shirou Emiya finished speaking, both took out their phones and began issuing instructions to their respective organizations, coordinating transportation and arrangements at high speed.
"It's all done, Lord Shirou!"
Less than three minutes later, everything was settled.
"Well done."
Shirou Emiya sat down on the sofa in the center of the hall. Shuna handed him a cup of black tea, which he accepted and took a sip from.
He nodded in satisfaction.
This was precisely why he had brought Erica and Liliana under his command. Their influence made everything simple. Wherever he went, logistics and arrangements ceased to be a concern.
All he needed to do was move.
"By the way," Shirou Emiya said, glancing around, "where are Lucrezia and little Rimuru?"
"Miss Lucrezia dragged Mr. Godou Kusanagi into a drinking contest last night," Liliana replied. "It seems they're both still asleep."
"As for little Rimuru," Erica added, "she went out to play. She said she wanted to wander around on her own."
"I see."
Shirou Emiya nodded.
Yesterday had been the day he slew a god.
Lucrezia must have understood his earlier explanation. Someone with Godou Kusanagi's level of luck and connection to gods was a walking variable. On a day like that, anything could happen.
So, to be safe, she got him drunk.
Very drunk.
The result was obvious.
"Don't worry about Lucrezia," Shirou Emiya said casually. "She prefers quiet. Traveling with us probably isn't her style."
"When she wakes up and finds out we've already left, she'll probably clap her hands in approval."
The four of them laughed lightly.
After spending this much time together, they understood each other fairly well.
"But little Rimuru needs to be called back," Shirou Emiya added.
"Shuna."
"Yes, Lord Shirou."
"I'll leave that to you."
Shuna nodded and immediately headed out, disappearing into the town to retrieve little Rimuru.
"You two, start packing as well," Shirou Emiya said. "We'll leave as soon as possible."
"Yes!"
Watching Erica and Liliana hurry off, Shirou Emiya returned to his room.
Inside were various keepsakes.
Souvenirs from the worlds he had traveled through.
Each item carried meaning.
He packed them carefully.
Before long, everything was ready.
They left a letter for Lucrezia, then departed the residence. At the airport arranged by Erica and Liliana, they boarded a plane and quietly left Sardinia behind.
...
"What rotten luck."
Walking down a street in a small European town, Shirou Emiya muttered under his breath.
"Not only did I fail to find any trace of Hephaestus, I even got chased down by the King of Swords and dragged into a fight."
"It's just terrible."
More than a month had passed since leaving Sardinia.
During that time, he had dragged Shuna, Erica, and Liliana across the world, chasing leads provided by the Seven Sisters and visiting ruins suspected to be linked to Hephaestus.
Nothing.
Not a single useful clue.
To make matters worse, a few days ago, while he was still in the desert, Salvatore Doni had caught up to him.
They fought.
And because Shirou Emiya had been holding in frustration for weeks, he vented all of it on Doni.
The result was decisive.
Doni was beaten until he was barely recognizable.
And yet-
Instead of resentment, Doni became even more enthusiastic.
He insisted on befriending Shirou Emiya.
He wanted to spar regularly.
He even suggested Shirou Emiya call him "Toto."
That alone was unforgivable.
So Shirou Emiya buried him in the desert and left with the others.
"I really hope I never see that guy again."
He continued complaining as he walked.
No one answered.
"...Hm?"
Shirou Emiya finally noticed the silence.
He turned around.
"Why aren't you three saying anything?"
Shuna, Erica, and Liliana stood behind him, faces red, eyes averted. They looked embarrassed. Uncomfortably so.
Shirou Emiya immediately understood.
"You three still haven't recovered from last night, have you?"
At his words, all three lowered their heads even further.
Their faces somehow grew even redder.
Shirou Emiya sighed helplessly.
It was just the Divine Blessing and the Youth's protection.
Was it really that big of a deal?
