"'Emiya.' 'Rimuru.'"
Holding the longbow in his hands, Emiya Shirou murmured the two names quietly.
"A testament to friendship..."
Rimuru's words from earlier surfaced in his mind, and warmth spread through his chest. It reminded him of the time when Rimuru and the Storm Dragon Veldora had named each other. Back then, it had been names.
Now, it was weapons.
But the meaning was the same.
A bond acknowledged by the world itself.
"The only difference," Emiya Shirou thought, "is the form."
Looking at the silver-white longbow, he raised it slightly and spoke clearly.
"From now on, you'll be called the Bow of Rimuru."
His voice carried no hesitation.
"I'm very satisfied with this name, Rimuru."
He looked up-
And froze.
Before he could finish speaking, Rimuru, who had been standing right in front of him, suddenly stiffened. His body lost balance and collapsed forward, dissolving mid-fall and reverting into his slime form.
He hit the ground with a soft splat.
"Rimuru!"
"Lord Rimuru!"
"Lord Rimuru!"
The surrounding crowd rushed in immediately, panic breaking out at once. Voices overlapped, anxiety spreading like wildfire.
Emiya Shirou moved faster than anyone.
He was already kneeling by Rimuru's side.
He didn't panic. He simply reached out and checked.
Almost instantly, he noticed something was wrong.
"What happened to Lord Rimuru?" Shion demanded, kneeling beside him. Her expression was tense, her eyes locked on the puddle of slime. "Why did he suddenly turn into this state, Lord Shirou?"
Among the six who had evolved into Oni, Shion was the most devoted to Rimuru. Her feelings went beyond loyalty. Because of her direct and proactive nature, Rimuru had appointed her as his secretary, keeping her constantly at his side.
If Emiya Shirou hadn't been holding Rimuru down to examine him, Shion would have already pulled him into her arms.
"Something's off," Emiya Shirou said slowly.
He checked again.
Then again.
"...It looks like magicule depletion."
His tone carried uncertainty.
Hearing that, the people around them froze.
"Magicule depletion?"
That explanation felt strange.
Too strange.
And yet-
It matched perfectly.
The symptoms were identical to when Rimuru had exhausted his magicules in the past. Emiya Shirou had seen that state more than once.
Which only made it harder to understand.
Just as everyone was struggling to process it, Gobta, who had been standing off to the side, spoke hesitantly.
"Um... could it be that Lord Rimuru used all his magicules to name those two weapons?"
"...!"
Silence fell.
In that instant, everyone realized it.
That was it.
Naming.
The only thing that could drain Rimuru's magicules so completely.
But if that was true-
Then wouldn't those two weapons have become named existences?
And if they were named, wouldn't they have equally received half of Rimuru's magicules?
Shuna quickly picked up the sword that Rimuru had dropped when he collapsed. She held it carefully, almost reverently, staring at it in awe.
That was half of Rimuru's magicules.
Previously, when the six of them had shared his magicules evenly, they had reached A-rank.
So what would half of Rimuru's magicules produce when given to a single existence?
Anticipation spread through the group.
"Because they possess spirituality... they're recognized as life?"
"And once named, they became monsters under the rules of this world?"
"This really is something that could only happen here."
Emiya Shirou took the sword-Emiya-from Shuna's hands. He now held both weapons he had personally forged.
He examined them carefully.
As for Rimuru?
He had already been placed into Shion's arms to rest.
After all, no matter how you looked at it, he couldn't compete with the appeal of these two weapons right now.
"I wonder," Emiya Shirou said quietly, "what kind of changes they'll undergo after absorbing that much magicule."
"I'm honestly looking forward to it."
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
During those three days, the divine sword Emiya and the divine bow Rimuru continued to change.
But only on the surface.
The silver-white color they originally possessed slowly faded.
The sword gradually turned a deep azure blue.
The bow, meanwhile, shifted into a vivid crimson.
Aside from that, there were no dramatic transformations.
Neither Emiya Shirou nor Rimuru-who had already woken up-felt any sign of an imminent breakthrough.
Instead, it felt like accumulation.
Pure accumulation.
As their masters, both of them could clearly sense it.
Their own magicules were continuously flowing into the two weapons.
After resting for three days, Rimuru had fully recovered. Though he was surprised that he had fainted after naming them, his dominant emotion was excitement.
Anticipation.
After all, each weapon had absorbed half of his magicules.
What kind of result would that produce?
"Shirou," Rimuru asked, staring at the two weapons, "as the blacksmith who forged them, what kind of changes do you think they'll undergo?"
"How would I know?" Emiya Shirou shot him an annoyed look.
Then he sighed and explained seriously.
"Putting aside their base performance, both weapons are already top-tier. They possess the Indestructible attribute."
"They also function as staves."
"When holding them, your magic and skills will be amplified. Power increases. Casting speed increases."
"Magic consumption will be minimized."
"And any skills used through them will be pushed close to their maximum potential."
He paused.
"But none of that is the most important part."
Rimuru leaned in slightly.
"The most important thing," Emiya Shirou continued, "is their growth potential."
"As you fight, they will continue to grow. Their attributes can keep improving."
"Almost without limit."
Because of the assimilation of demonic steel, these two weapons were no longer made of ordinary material. They were no longer simply steel.
They were closer to magical constructs.
That was why Emiya Shirou had specifically added the Indestructible attribute-and refined it to its extreme.
As the weapons continued to evolve, even material upgrades could be completed by absorbing magicules from their masters.
The structure itself could self-proliferate.
All it needed was energy.
"In short," Emiya Shirou concluded, "they have infinite potential."
"I honestly don't know what they'll become after absorbing your magicules."
"Then I guess," Rimuru said after a moment, "all we can do is wait."
Both of them stared at the weapons.
And sighed.
"How long is this going to take?"
"Hey, Shirou," Rimuru suddenly said, "do you think they'll turn into ship girls?"
"...Are you insane?" Emiya Shirou replied immediately. "This is a sword. Not a ship."
"It's an example! Just an example!"
"I get what you mean," Emiya Shirou said flatly, "but that's basically impossible, right? This is reality."
"Yeah," Rimuru agreed. "Even if naming causes massive changes, a weapon turning into a person is too much."
"Exactly."
"So don't have unrealistic fantasies."
"I know, I know."
Night.
Emiya Shirou was sleeping soundly when he suddenly felt something unusual in his arms.
This sensation-
He knew it.
He had experienced it before.
Back when Sakura used to sneak into his arms at night.
He was very familiar with it.
Which made the current situation a problem.
Because Sakura wasn't here.
Atalanta wasn't here either.
So-
Who was it?
Emiya Shirou opened his eyes.
Thanks to his night vision, he saw her clearly.
A red-haired girl was lying in his arms.
She was quietly looking at him.
Large eyes.
A delicate face.
Her features were youthful, but it wasn't hard to imagine that she would grow into a striking beauty in the future.
That was his first impression.
The girl seemed to possess night vision as well. When Emiya Shirou opened his eyes, she met his gaze directly.
They stared at each other in the darkness.
Neither spoke.
After a brief pause, the girl finally opened her mouth.
Her voice was soft.
"Nice to meet you, Father."
"I am Rimuru."
In that moment, Emiya Shirou had only one thought.
Thank you, old friend Rimuru.
For once again using that cursed mouth of yours to say exactly the wrong thing.
And yet-
Sword girls really are the best.
