Chapter 1 - Awakening as the Great Hero, Emiya

One day, he woke up and became Emiya the Great Hero.

Who was Emiya the Great Hero?

He was the man who fought through seven opponents in succession and ended an entire Holy Grail War in a single night.

But the time point he woke into was already after defeat.

After losing to the King of Heroes.

Looking down at a body covered in scars and facing the certainty of being captured and imprisoned, Shirou could only lie there and stare at the sky, unable to move.

Fine.

There was no need to say more.

First, he would travel through worlds.

This grudge was already noted. Everything else could wait until he came back.

-

"To protect my sisters' happiness, I won't hesitate to be shattered to pieces."

"Excuse me," a passerby asked, "which sister are you protecting? You seem to have quite a few."

"All of them," Shirou replied calmly. "They're all my family."

Then he added, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"So, do you want to be my sister too?"

"Is this... the Dungeon City, Orario?"

Standing on a high hillside, Shirou looked down at the city spread out before him and spoke softly.

His voice carried genuine amazement.

Below him, the city stretched endlessly, massive and orderly, brimming with vitality. White stone structures clustered together, roads weaving between them like veins.

And at the very center-

That tower.

Babel.

A pure white structure rising straight into the heavens, so tall it seemed to pierce the sky itself.

Just imagining its construction made his scalp tingle.

"A world where gods and mortals dance together," Shirou said quietly. "The birthplace of heroes. Orario."

"If it's here..."

His gaze sharpened.

"I should be able to obtain power comparable to a Heroic Spirit."

"Then I can defeat Julian."

"And make sure he never threatens Miyu's life again."

The moment her name surfaced, his thoughts drifted backward without resistance.

To the past.

In his previous life, he had been a university student.

His name was Emiya.

An old, seasoned otaku.

Among all the series he followed, Fate stood above the rest. He had watched almost everything connected to it, in one form or another.

After all, whenever Emiya saw another Emiya carving a path through enemies while surrounded by girls, a strange sense of immersion inevitably surfaced.

It felt personal.

When he finished watching Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II - lost butterfly online, he had been shaken to his core by Sakura Matou's fate.

Among the original heroines, he preferred Sakura over Rin.

That wasn't complicated.

Who wouldn't like a gentle, soft-spoken girl like Sakura?

But her background was unbearably tragic.

Especially in the Heaven's Feel route.

That story revolved around Sakura, and it was painful in a way that lingered.

After finishing it, Emiya felt his chest ache. Without hesitation, he opened Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya to cleanse his wounded heart with the girls' bright, wholesome interactions.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, he stayed up late to rewatch Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Oath Under Snow.

And after that-

He fell asleep.

When he woke up again, the world had changed.

He found himself lying on uneven, shattered ground.

Around him were broken swords, cracked blades, fragments of weapons embedded in the earth.

And not far away-

Angelica.

The King of Heroes.

Gilgamesh.

She stood there holding the Sword of Rupture, her gaze cold and unwavering as it rested on him.

...

"Heh."

Even now, recalling it, Shirou felt a bitter amusement rise in his chest.

"Starting straight against the final boss."

"And losing."

"Is there a more miserable opening than that?"

Fragments of memory replayed endlessly.

"Shirou."

"Miyu Sakatsuki."

"Holy Grail War."

"King of Heroes."

Information surfaced one piece at a time, flowing up from the depths of his consciousness, slotting neatly into place.

His identity became clear.

Even without those memories, he knew exactly where and when he was.

The knowledge was carved into his very being.

Too deeply, honestly. His brain was already full.

This was the end of the Holy Grail War in Miyu Sakatsuki's world.

The ending of Oath Under Snow.

And also the beginning of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya.

This was the story of Shirou Emiya, the Great Hero.

The man who, to save his sister, abandoned his ideal of becoming a Hero of Justice.

The man who turned himself into something twisted.

The man who fought seven opponents back-to-back and ended the Holy Grail War in a single night.

And now-

This was the end of that story.

To buy time for his sister's escape, Shirou, still human, stood against Angelica, who had become the King of Heroes.

He lost the battle.

But he won the war.

Lying there, battered beyond recognition, Shirou felt relief rather than regret.

Miyu had been saved.

That was enough.

That emotion seeped into Emiya as well, blending without friction.

And in that moment, he understood something clearly.

He had already transmigrated.

He had simply awakened late.

Because of that, his personality leaned closer to Shirou's.

There was no contradiction there.

They were both him.

One was the past.

One was the present.

"Now that I think about it," Shirou muttered, "since my memories from my previous life awakened..."

"There must be something interfering."

"Something that caused this transmigration in the first place."

His breathing was shallow, but his mind was calm.

"Whether you're a system or a god," he continued, "if you awakened my memories..."

"You shouldn't let me be captured and imprisoned like this, right?"

His fingers twitched.

"I need your power."

"Now."

As if responding to his plea, golden light burst from his chest.

It expanded rapidly, illuminating the entire space.

"What is that?"

Angelica reacted instantly.

Her posture shifted into a combat stance.

Golden ripples unfolded behind her, one after another.

More than a dozen Noble Phantasms emerged, hovering in midair, aimed directly at Shirou.

She was prepared to annihilate anything abnormal.

But before she could act-

Her consciousness stopped.

The world froze.

Space itself locked into stillness.

With a heavily injured arm, Shirou forced himself upright.

He turned toward the source of the light.

A golden pocket watch floated slowly out from his chest.

"...Wait."

Shirou stared at it.

"Isn't that the pocket watch I bought online for a few dozen yuan?"

He paused.

"Don't tell me..."

"...I actually picked up a real treasure?"

The culprit behind his transmigration was, unbelievably, that very pocket watch.

A random purchase from an online marketplace.

The miracle of it felt almost insulting.

Reaching out with a trembling hand, Shirou grasped the watch.

The moment his fingers touched it, information flooded his mind.

Its name was the [Time Piece of Distant Eras].

Its function was simple and absolute.

It could transport its bearer between worlds.

Not only that-it could perfectly integrate them into those worlds.

Seventeen years ago, it was this pocket watch that brought him here.

Because his original three-dimensional body was incompatible with this two-dimensional world, the Time Piece searched across countless worlds.

It selected the individual with the highest compatibility.

That person was Shirou Emiya.

For seventeen years, his soul had been adapting.

That was why he hadn't awakened.

Until this battle.

Until his fighting spirit and resolve reached their peak.

Only then did the adaptation complete.

Now-

He was Shirou.

Not the former Emiya.

"This is the full story, then," Shirou said quietly.

"I'm already here."

"So I'll live properly."

"And from now on, I'll think as Shirou Emiya."

His gaze swept across the frozen battlefield.

Angelica stood motionless in the distance.

A smile tugged at his lips.

"What's there to think about?"

"Obviously-"

"I'll travel through worlds first."

"I don't have the power to fight Julian right now."

"Strength comes first."

He knew the future.

After Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Miyu, Illya, and Shirou would return to this world.

They would defeat Julian and his group-for now.

But after that, they would use Shirou's injured body as an excuse to keep him behind.

The real battles would be fought by Illya, Miyu, Kuro, and Bazett.

That future made his chest tighten.

Letting his sisters fight while he stayed behind?

That wasn't acceptable.

That wasn't the future he wanted.

"[Time Piece of Distant Eras]," Shirou said firmly.

"Take me to a world where I can grow stronger."

The Time Piece could not choose a specific world.

Only a general direction.

Unless it had already visited and recorded the coordinates.

Golden light wrapped around Shirou's body.

As it did, he glanced once more at Angelica.

"Angelica," he said, not unkindly, "you're strong now."

"But I'll be back."

"And next time, I'll defeat you."

The light flared.

His figure vanished.

All that remained was Angelica, who soon regained consciousness, unaware of what had occurred.

...

Returning from his memories, Shirou looked out over Orario once more.

The city shimmered in the distance.

He exhaled slowly.

"I hope you don't disappoint me."

"God's Blessing."
