"Sir Scott is dead?!"

Asher stared at Artoria in astonishment. "Really?"

So, what exactly was going on? He wakes up, and a tribal leader is dead? If this news got out, he would be the first person to get into trouble. Just yesterday, Scott had been with him on a mission. After that, they were ambushed by the enemy due to a traitor. They barely managed to retreat, and then that same night, the tribal leader who had been with him died.

No matter how you thought about it, people would suspect King Arthur had ordered it!

"He was killed by an outsider leader," Artoria said. "It was probably due to infighting. He was cursed with a poison that activated in the middle of the night."

"An outsider leader?" Asher was startled. "So Scott was the traitor?"

Why did it feel like a freebie? Scott had just turned into a traitor and was killed on the same day.

"Is there anything strange?" Artoria asked, looking at Asher, who was deep in thought.

Asher snapped back to reality, shaking his head. "No, nothing."

He actually did find it a bit strange. Scott was a tribal leader, not some small fry. As a tribal leader, he could always get first-hand information, yet such an important person was killed by an outsider. It just felt strange.

"It is said that before Sir Scott died, he entrusted his maid to be the new tribal leader, and that tribal leader just sent someone to tell me something." Artoria's tone grew a bit strange at the end. "She expressed her willingness to completely obey the King's commands."

"Hmm?" Asher was startled. "Why?"

"…That's what I should be asking you," Artoria looked up and stared at Asher. "Are you hiding something from me?"

"Would you believe me if I said I didn't know anything?" Asher said with a wry smile.

He went to sleep inexplicably, woke up, and found that one of the tribes was willing to be completely at his disposal… This was too bizarre.

"You really don't know?" Artoria asked.

"Truly don't know," Asher sighed helplessly. "Actually, isn't this a good thing regardless? We can ask the new leader for the reason later."

As he said this, he found Artoria still staring at him and couldn't help but ask in confusion, "Is there something else, Lily?"

"Nothing," Artoria withdrew her gaze. "I just thought perhaps the other party had taken a liking to you or something."

Asher: "???"

"You think they would give me a tribe just because they like me? How could such an idiot become a tribal leader? Even without thinking, you can guess that's completely impossible, right?"

Artoria stared at the expression on Asher's face, remained silent for a moment, then suddenly showed a faint smile. "You're right, my apologies, I was thinking too much."

Asher rolled his eyes.

You weren't thinking too much, you were thinking wildly. To hand over a tribe to a new king for no reason, especially when the new king hasn't even shown much promise… how could there be such an idiot?

"Why are you here?"

At that moment, Artoria's voice suddenly turned cold.

Asher snapped back to reality and followed Artoria's gaze. A pink-haired girl in a short skirt stood at the front of the palace hall, a look of fascination on her beautiful face.

"King Arthur, may I speak with you alone?"

"Sir Milo?" Asher looked at Milo several times in confusion. "Do you have something to say?"

Normally, tribal leaders rarely came to the palace. Although both sides had a common enemy, their relationship with King Arthur wasn't particularly good. After all, one side wanted to completely absorb the tribes, while the other was unwilling to hand over their tribes to the King's control for free.

"I wish to pledge allegiance to you and offer my territory to you," Milo said with a smile. "But before that, I would like to speak with you alone."

Asher and Artoria exchanged glances, both seeing incredulity in each other's eyes. Especially Artoria's gaze, which seemed to say: You still say they didn't take a liking to you?

"Lily, wait outside," Asher asked Artoria.

Despite her reluctance, Artoria had no choice but to leave the hall. After all, this concerned a major tribal matter and was simply too important. But as she left, Artoria gave Milo another deep look.

"All right, you can say what you need to say," Asher said.

Milo looked at Asher with deep affection, staring at him teasingly: "Shouldn't we go somewhere more secluded to talk privately?"

Asher immediately became more alert. He shook his head and said, "Just say whatever you need to say here."

"The King is really timid, even though I can't pose any threat to you," Milo chuckled softly. Looking at Asher, who remained silent, she slowly walked forward.

Asher remained calm, simply watching Milo. He really didn't dare to step back; that would make him seem afraid of her. His strength was not inferior to Milo's, so there was nothing to fear. But for some reason, looking at this pink-haired girl, he always felt a strange sense of dread.

Simply put, her smile was strangely unsettling. Although cute, it just made him feel very dangerous.

Milo stopped only when she was completely in front of Asher, staring at his still somewhat youthful face.

"My King, Sir Scott was actually not killed by the outsiders, you know," Milo said with a smile, brushing away the pink hair from her shoulder.

Asher's expression stiffened. "In that case, there's another killer?"

"But in terms of who benefited the most, besides the outsiders, it would be that maid…"

"Sometimes, when considering something, you shouldn't just look at the surface," Milo raised her hand and straightened the crown on Asher's head. "You are usually busy with matters concerning the outsiders, so you probably don't have time to be distracted by these trivial matters, do you?"

Asher nodded silently.

That was true. He focused more on the outsiders. If it weren't for the sudden appearance of a traitor, he would probably still be busy dealing with the outsiders outside.

"That court steward is mostly just responsible for looking after you. It seems she hasn't considered much else," Milo slowly stated a fact.

"So, you need someone who can help you think through problems."

Asher hesitated for a moment. "What is your purpose?"

Offering a tribe and wanting to help him… Milo's actions were practically as if she intended to give him everything, which was incredibly puzzling.

"After the outsiders are driven away, it will eventually be time to purge the interior. I'm just choosing a better approach in advance, to protect myself," Milo said with a smile. "Also… last night, I met the person who killed Sir Scott."

Asher's eyes widened slightly. "You met them? What did they look like?"

According to Lily's previous words, Sir Scott's death was quite brutal. He wasn't killed directly, but a curse poison was placed on him, which was only activated later. The pain it caused in his body just thinking about it made one's heart tremble.

Milo shook her head regretfully. "I'm afraid I don't know what she looks like. It's just because of this incident that I feel very insecure now, which is why I want to seek refuge with King Arthur, hoping you can protect me from harm."

"As a reward, I can accept anything you ask of me," Milo's fingers slowly moved down the hem of her skirt, lifting a corner to reveal a smooth thigh.

"Anything… at all."

Asher averted his gaze. "In any case, since you feel your territory is unsafe now, you can stay in the palace. Is that okay?"

"Mm, thank you," Milo smiled. "If possible, I hope to be in the room next to yours. After all, being alone always makes one feel very vulnerable."

Asher considered the pros and cons, then nodded. "I'll arrange it. You can move in today."

Compared to a tribe, having this person stay in the palace was not unacceptable. Rather, it was a profitable deal.

"Oh, and also, at the masquerade ball, if I have the honor, I hope to dance with the King. Would that be possible?" Milo asked with a beaming smile.

"This is an invitation, and also one of the conditions for my allegiance to you," she added.

Asher could only nod. "I understand."

"Thank you very much." Milo bowed slightly, turning back to Asher one last time before leaving.

"I'm very much looking forward to it, the masquerade ball."
