Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

The deck was a bloody mess. The great body of the sea king, once the ruler of the seas, lay there, ripped and mangled. Even in death, its size and majesty made this group of small-time pirates tremble. Their hands shook as they butchered it, and if Rogu had not been there, they would have probably thrown down their knives and fled long ago.

Among them, Cindy stood out in particular - a cunning pirate who, despite his cunning, watched Rogu with even greater anxiety than he did the dead sea king.

Yes, the Sea King scared him. Even in death, his writhing demon-like body, menacing back, and disgustingly large head seemed to be able to swallow his soul with just one look. But the fear of Rogu was much greater.

This man, as if brushing off an annoying mosquito, killed such a terrifying creature with one flawless swing of his blade.

"Who the hell is he?" Cindy thought. Although he had already realized after the incident with Alvida that Rogu was not someone to mess with, his strength was still within the range of human understanding. That was why he had decided to target Rogu back then. However... today's blow had destroyed not only the sea king's head, but also his entire understanding of the world.

"This isn't the work of human hands!" Cindy thought in horror.

The butchering work continued. Large pieces of meat were immediately sent to the kitchen, and due to the limited space on the ship, the remains were simply thrown back into the sea. The bones and skin of the sea king also went into the ocean.

Cindy, rattling his shackles, approached Rog and asked: "Captain, sea king... How would you like it cooked?"

- Hm? - Rogu seemed to be deep in thought. Hearing the question, he looked up and, as if thinking, answered: - What do you think?

Cindy was always afraid when Rogu looked thoughtful. It seemed that every time such moments happened, he himself would be in trouble. So, smiling a forced smile, he answered: - You know, sea kings have always been just a legend for us. We have heard about them, but we have never seen them, much less eaten them.

"That's a shame," Rogu said, nodding. "They say the sea king's meat is very tasty. Maybe we should make some soup? And then fry, stew, steam – it's up to you. I'm just waiting for the food."

"Got it," said Cindy, immediately going to do his job, not daring to object.

Rogu remained seated, looking at his hands and the black blade. His thoughts didn't really concern Cindy. He could still feel the sensations from that blow. It was the same technique as before, nothing new. But this time, Rogu was experimenting. He tried to combine the Heart of the Moon technique with the Super Strength skill.

The essence of the Super Strength was to gather all the strength of the body into one point and release it in an instant, creating incredible explosive power. It is believed that the level of mastery of the Moon Heart technique that Rogu had achieved was already quite high - level 5. But he felt that this technique was still not fully revealed to him, and had not reached its peak.

"It's probably a lack of strength," he thought.

That's why Rogu decided to try to combine the concept of Superpower with the blade technique. And just when he thought about it, the sea king appeared in front of him as if on cue, and Rogu's blade then automatically struck him.

The result was astonishing. Although Rogu believed that he could deal with the Sea King using only the Moon Heart technique without any tricks, this method still allowed him to achieve incredible efficiency. Everything was done quickly and without unnecessary effort.

"Hmm, it turns out I now have my own signature move," he said to himself, smiling.

Rogu opened his Hunter License, but found no new technique in the skill list. Perhaps it was because this technique was a fusion of the Moon Heart technique and the Overpower skill, and therefore did not require a separate entry into the registry.

"However, this technique is far from the limit. In the end, the limit is always not my techniques, but the power that my body is capable of giving out," Rogu thought.

Both the Heart of the Moon and the Overpower were dependent on one's growth. And the stronger one became, the more powerful these techniques became. While combining them promised even greater potential.

.....

That night, Rogu finally got his wish - he tried the meat of the sea king. And instantly fell in love with its taste. However, it was not only a matter of gastronomic pleasure. The main reason was that the meat of the sea king turned out to be incredibly nutritious.

For a man who is constantly training, this was a real treasure trove. Intensive training, proper nutrition and converting the energy consumed into strength were the keys to his success.

In the days that followed, Rogu redoubled his energy in training and consuming the sea king's meat. Unfortunately, despite the creature's enormous size, the ship could only hold a small portion of its carcass. Limited hold space and poor storage conditions meant that much of the meat spoiled and had to be thrown away.

Meanwhile, the ship was kept under strict regime. The prisoners held by Rogu were given only a minimal amount of food once a day, to keep them alive but not too well. After all, they were goods, to be exchanged for money.

But even with such a frugal approach, the food supplies on board were noticeably decreasing. In addition to what Cindy had managed to load onto the ship, some of the provisions were received as a gift from the residents of Orange Town. Because of this, at one time the hold was so full that it was impossible to turn around in it. However, now it was practically empty.

This made Roga think about how much resources it took to support a large group of people. And he realized one important thing: catching pirates can be profitable, but low-level pirates are not worth the effort. Especially if the destination is uncertain, and there is no way to dispose of the captives. Traveling for a long time with such a burden was, in fact, a stupid decision.

"If this drags on, I'll just go broke," Rogu concluded gloomily.

Fortunately, his thoughts stopped two days later when he saw land. It was a city with a port. Moreover, there was a Marine base not far from the pier.

"Captain… it seems we've reached some place again," Cindy said with an awkward smile, her face pale and her voice trembling.

Rogu smiled and nodded: "Yes, and you will finally be able to gain freedom."

Cindy's smile gradually faded, replaced by a look of hopelessness. Frankly, he didn't want to leave this ship at all. The situation was hopeless for him. If he went ashore, he would end up in the hands of the Marines and be sent to prison - to join Buggy and Frott. And considering everything Cindy had done on board, he was sure that being with Rogu, he still had a chance to survive. But in prison, certain death awaited him.

Buggy and Frott have already confirmed that Cindy is working for Roga. And if he is thrown in jail, these two will most likely deal with him...
