Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Yes, I did put poison in his food. So why was he still so strong?

This question bothered not only Frott, but also Cindy himself. However, if Cindy could afford to misunderstand the situation, then for Captain Frott it could turn into a serious problem.

After all, it was Cindy who was responsible for finding the target. It was Cindy who was supposed to put the sleeping pill in. However, the target was found, and the plan worked only half-heartedly: the poison did not work, and as a result, Frott's entire team was captured.

If we don't find out why Rogu didn't give in to the intrigue, then Frott could come to the conclusion that Cindy betrayed him. The motive? It's simple: the ship is full of treasure, and Frott's head is worth three million beli. Such a catch could well be worth the betrayal of the entire crew. And now, after Rogu's words, Frott's suspicions only grew stronger. Oh... what will happen now?

Cindy was ready to burst into tears. After all, he hadn't even had time to discuss his plan with the captain. Firstly, there was neither time nor opportunity. Secondly, the fewer people knew about the plan, the higher the chances of success. But who would have thought that everything would turn out this way?

"Well done!" Rogu suddenly praised him, patting him on the shoulder in a friendly manner. "Keep up the good work, and now go and do your own thing."

Cindy, with tears in his eyes, looked at Roga. He wanted to scream: - This is a lie! You are unfair to me!

But as soon as their eyes met, all the resentment, anger and bitterness instantly disappeared. He nodded obediently and, without saying a word, left. Well, after all, under a roof, even in captivity, one must bow one's head.

As Cindy left the hold, Rogu looked over his captives again. His gaze first stopped at Buggy and Frott, and then he carefully examined Moji and Kabaji. Nodding in satisfaction, he calculated in his head: "Not counting the small pirates, these four alone are already worth twenty-seven million! And taking into account all my previous captives, the total capital reaches sixty-nine million two hundred and seventy thousand beli. If you round it up, that's almost seventy million!"

However, Rogu held back his joy, shook his head and sighed: "It's a pity that level 5 skills are now pumped with a low probability of success..."

However, remembering that he had recently opened a new section, Fallen, and received the Key of the Fallen, he decided that he would not linger in the prison section any longer. And heading to his cabin, he looked at the hunter's license, activating the Fallen section.

A completely new interface opened up in front of him. However, it wasn't a store as he expected, instead he saw images of cameras, each with a numerical value underneath it.

Under the first camera it said: 5/5.

The remaining chambers were locked, and under each of them was written a value: 0/5.

Looking at these cameras, Rogu began to think.

— It might be related to the phrase "captureable" that appears in wanted posters. If you think about it, the number "5" could mean five captives: Alvida, Frott, Kabaji, Moji, and Buggy.

Since Rogu began hunting, he has actually caught five. And with the exception of Marcello, whom he killed, the rest were captured alive.

- So, it turns out that the Fallen were activated only because the first chamber was filled to capacity?

He shook his head, grinning, "It's not that hard."

In the lower right corner of the interface, he noticed a note: Fallen Key: 1.

— I wonder what it's for?

He reached out and touched the image of the first camera. Then, a message appeared before his eyes.

[ Use the Fallen Key? ]

"Eh?" Rogu read the message carefully, feeling uneasy. "Why do I feel like I'm about to open the cells and let the pirates out?"

He paused for a few seconds, thinking about it, but eventually chose "Yes."

"If I was given this Key, is it really meant to release those I caught with such difficulty?" he said.

And, as it turned out, his assumptions were correct. This did not mean the release of the prisoners at all. After all, as soon as he confirmed his choice, the next second brought him an unexpected result: the cell doors really did open... but instead of freeing the pirates, five avatars appeared in front of him - the faces of Alvida, Frotta, Kabaji, Moji and Buggy.

A bright light began to move quickly across the screen, as if choosing one of them. At first it moved chaotically, but gradually it began to slow down, until finally the light stopped on Buggy's avatar.

[Skill acquired: Quartering!]

— ... — Rogu looked at the message silently, comprehending what was happening. — Is this a lottery?

He reached out to click on the message, and at that moment a strange energy flowed through his body and a wave of new information flashed in his head.

"I wonder if something similar happens to someone when they eat a devil fruit?" he mused. "Although it feels more like my skill just improved."

After he clicked on the message, it disappeared and the avatars returned to the cell. Afterwards, Rogu even heard the cell door close and lock again.

Then, looking at the lower right corner of the system, he noticed: Fallen Key: 0.

"So, the Fallen Key gives me the opportunity to hold a raffle. Five pirates in one cell, and the Fallen Key can be used to gain the ability of one of those five?" Rogu rubbed his temples, trying to organize the new information. "So, in addition to killing pirates to gain their abilities, I can simply capture them? And the Fallen Key is awarded for every five pirates captured? Hmmm... I'll have to figure that out later.

He looked at the first camera again.

"I wonder if it's possible to repeat the draw in cameras that have already been used?" he wondered. "Probably yes... After all, the camera didn't turn grey."

Rogu grinned, "If that's the case, then the order in which pirates are caught becomes important as well. That means that regular pirates can simply be killed, but those with special abilities should be caught alive. That makes sense."

However, after thinking for a while, he decided that even ordinary pirates had their value - at least you could get a reward for them.

"In any case, this has its advantages. Let's see how it goes," he concluded.

He then opened his Hunter's License and looked at the skills section, where a new skill had appeared: Quartering, level 1.

"Buggy's ability... I hope it doesn't deprive me of the opportunity to touch sea water like him," Rogu said with concern.

However, he immediately reassured himself, "But I didn't eat the Devil Fruit. It's just a skill gained through the system bonus. I guess... everything will be fine."

He thought for a moment and concluded enthusiastically, "If things go as I think, the more pirates I catch, the more powers I'll be able to obtain. Maybe I'll end up with not just one, but many Devil Fruit powers!"

"It will be... simply incredible," he said, imagining all the possibilities.

Looking at the four remaining black coins, Rogu didn't think twice. He knew what to do and used them without hesitation.

[Promotion successful!]

[Promotion successful!]

[Promotion successful!]

[Promotion successful!]

Quartering level 5!

Rogu smiled, feeling his body fill with power. "Now I'm really becoming someone special…"
