The next morning came quietly.
Soft light filtered through the curtains of Rin's room, casting a golden glow on the floor. Outside, the brothel courtyard was calm which was unusually so. There were no customers, no laughter, no sound of music that day. The place that usually glowed with life, thanks to the customers, felt almost sacred today.
The brothel still hadn't reopened.
Most of the Omegas rescued from the auction were still recovering... their bodies weak, their minds restless. They had been cleaned, fed, and given rooms to rest in. The air carried the faint smell of herbal ointments and fresh linens.
Thanks to Rin, the worst of their injuries had healed overnight.
He had stayed up late, reading through several thick books about demons, contracts, and forbidden marks like that dangerous orb. Even with his growing strength, Rin knew there was something unnatural about the recent events... the sudden increase in demon attacks, and the advancing war.
