Yang Ming's POV:
Today is a happy day as I will be bringing back my long-lost granddaughter to the estate. I have always wanted another grandchild, but my eldest son is too much of a prude to make me another, my daughter is too much of a tomboy to get hitched and my youngest never got over his first love.
I mean she isn't perfect. She is kind of scary when she gets upset, she has a foul mouth and refuses to call me grandpa. If not for my instincts telling me otherwise, I would never have believed this rude girl was the daughter of my kindhearted Xing.
We who carry the blood of dragons have a special way of identifying our descendants. I hadn't noticed at first due to it being suppressed, but it seems meeting her grandfather in the flesh while under duress triggered her dormant bloodline, as she started transforming into a dragonewt. Her sudden biological changes caused by her dormant genes as well as the exhaustion from overexerting herself fighting those savages seemed to have taken a toll on her body, knocking her out cold. Unfortunately, for me it would seem my granddaughter is a rather energetic sleepwalker, making carrying her back to my carriage a hassle. I had to physically restrain her limbs to prevent her from kicking and punching me once I finally managed to get her through the door.
Dragonewts are the result of dragons mixing their blood with mankind. Our looks can vary greatly depending on how thick our bloodline is. Some might look like bipedal lizards, while others like me will look almost indistinguishable from humans. My granddaughter, however, seemed to be somewhere in the middle as she has grown some pretty silver scales on her arms and legs, as well as a beautiful tale and a cute pair of white antlers.
"You would have been considered quite the beauty in our homeland!"
"Like I care! Just take off the rope already!"
*sigh*
Ever since this lass regained her consciousness she has been frantically trying to escape. She gave me quite the shock when she jumped out the carriage's window first thing after opening her eyes.
"What do you want from me old man?"
"I merely wish to bring my long-lost grandchild back home to meet her family!"
"And?"
"And what?"
"And what else? You need an organ donor or maybe a blood sacrifice?"
"Is that the kind of things the Lunarias are doing these days?" I asked, as I looked at the pitiful girl before me.
I knew the Lunaria was a coldhearted bunch, but I didn't think they were so wicked they'd turn on their own flesh and blood.
"I wasn't raised by those snobs, so keep your looks of pity to yourself!"
"You weren't?"
"Nope! They exiled my mother before I was even born!"
"Hm? Exiled?! That's strange? When were you born again?" I asked, as something felt a bit off.
Given the order of events that took place back then, there is no possible way that woman would have been exiled before Nox was born, even if it happened after that very night.
"That's classified!"
"Come on! You can trust your grandpapa!"
*Swoosh*
*Smack*
"Ouch! Still not used to your new tail I see!" I said, as I rubbed the cheek my granddaughter's tail just slapped.
"Sure! Let's go with that!"
For cases like Little Nox where someone experiences drastic changes to their anatomy upon awakening their bloodline, it usually takes a while for them to fully adjust to the changes. I am sure she just lost control of her tail momentarily and slapped me by accident.
"Woops!"
*Smack*
"Sorry old man!"
*Smack*
"I'm just so clumsy!"
*Smack*
"I'm definitely not doing it on purpose because you kidnapped me to play house!"
*Smack*
"And I definitely don't have better things I could be wasting my time on!"
*Smack*
"We have arrived Sir!" The coachmen spoke.
"Very good!" I said, feeling excited to bring in a new member to the clan.
I wonder how I should break the news to everyone. Her mother is a bit of a touchy subject, so maybe I shouldn't tell everyone yet.
"Now! Remember to behave yourself little Nox!"
"Call me little again old man! I dare you!"
"Stop calling me 'old man'! Call me grandpapa! Uh!"
I guess people might start to pry if she calls me that. Though, that still doesn't mean she has to call me 'old man'.
"Call me patriarch when in public!"
"In your dreams old man!"
