June 19th.
"Memento," directed by Christopher Nolan, written by Jonathan Nolan, and produced by Kyle, officially premiered in North America.
This Friday, other films released concurrently included Disney's "Mulan," 20th Century Fox's "The X-Files: Conquer," and three low-budget films from Hollywood's three "third-tier" film companies.
In other words, on June 19th, including "Memento," a total of six new films were released.
In addition, several popular films, such as "The Truman Show," which premiered on June 5th, and "Six Days, Seven Nights," which premiered on June 12th, maintained strong positions this week, occupying a considerable number of screenings.
Due to various reasons, "Memento" was unable to secure a high screening rate.
Undoubtedly, "Memento" will face challenges every weekend!
On the premiere day,
Kyle put down his work and accompanied Adriana Lima, who had just returned from Europe, to watch "Memento" at the cinema.
Well, Kyle had already watched the finished film four times and was almost sick of it!
However, Lima wanted to see it, and Kyle, for once, indulged her.
"Wow~"
"Oh my God!"
"Kyle, where did you find this director? He's really amazing!"
"The filming technique of intertwining reality and illusion, and showing both sides of a coin, isn't something just anyone can master."
During the viewing, Lima praised Director Nolan's skill more than once.
In fact, it wasn't just Lima; during the viewing, the audience in the cinema also gasped in amazement multiple times. Director Nolan skillfully linked together fragmented pieces using the technique of intertwining reality and illusion, presenting everyone with an extremely thought-provoking film.
For audiences who enjoy brain-teasing themes, "Memento" was undoubtedly a Michelin-star feast!
...After the movie.
Kyle and Lima strolled around downtown Los Angeles.
The appearance of the handsome man and beautiful woman naturally attracted the attention of some.
"Hi, excuse me, I'm a scout from JY Model Agency. I was wondering if either of you might be interested in a career in modeling."
A 30-year-old man suddenly appeared not far from Kyle and Lima.
And strode forward.
However, before he could get an answer, he was quickly pulled aside by two security guards hidden in the crowd.
"Hey, hey, hey~, who are you? What are you going to do to me?" The scout immediately panicked and shouted.
Anyone who is suddenly grabbed and dragged aside by two stone-faced men in black would not be calm!
"Be honest, tell me, who are you and what do you want?" one of the men in black said coldly.
A chilling tone;
An unreadable face;
The other person also made a gesture as if to draw a gun at any moment;
The scout was terrified.
MMP!
At this moment, not only the two men in black, but also several security personnel hidden among the crowd around Kyle, all moved out, vigilant about their surroundings.
The tourists strolling around immediately became uneasy!
???
"What's going on?"
"Are they filming a movie?"
"Idiot, don't you know Mr. Kyle Page, the super billionaire?"
"Oh? Is he Kyle Page, the chief planner of the 'Talent Show' program?!"
Some people in the crowd recognized Kyle and quickly explained to those around them. Before long, everyone present knew Kyle's identity.
Suddenly, the crowd stirred.
No wonder, Kyle was that famous now!
Living in America, you might not know who the current hot movie star is, but you definitely know who the recently rich person is.
Kyle had been in the headlines several times recently, so how could his popularity be low?
"Sigh, it seems we can't go shopping," Kyle said with a wry smile.
"It's okay, let's go back then," Lima said understandingly.
Well, Kyle didn't experience any of the fun of shopping this time. After all, he was surrounded by 12 armed security guards.
Student Kyle was very afraid of death.
If he went out without bodyguards, he might be shot by some ignorant petty thief.
Just imagine that scene~
According to reports: "Renowned billionaire Mr. Kyle Page was shot and killed on a Los Angeles street this afternoon."
Damn, if something like that really happened, how wronged would Kyle be!
Therefore, Kyle's plan for himself was very clear: whenever he was out, no matter the circumstances, there must be sufficient security personnel around him.
The next day.
Around 9 AM.
Chief Assistant Alexander sent the first-day box office data for "Memento" to Kyle's email.
Disney's animated film "Mulan" topped the North American Friday single-day box office with $22.74 million on its opening day;
20th Century Fox's "The X-Files: Conquer" took in $18 million on its first day, ranking second;
And "Memento," produced and distributed by Page Pictures, achieved a good ranking of 6th on the North American box office chart for the day, with a screening rate of 9%, taking in $5.2 million at the box office.
"Huh? Kyle, this box office isn't very high?" Lima suddenly said from the side.
Kyle shook his head and smiled, "Lima, the production cost of 'Memento' was only $5 million. To achieve $5.2 million on its opening day is already quite remarkable."
"Understood," Lima nodded.
The first-day box office of $5.2 million for "Memento" actually exceeded Kyle and others' previous expectations.
Kyle didn't deny that "Memento" was excellent, a masterpiece in the brain-teasing genre.
But!
Brain-teasing films are inherently a niche genre within mainstream films; coupled with the low screening rate on the day and the simultaneous release of many popular films, achieving such a box office now was truly remarkable.
Based on simulated data, Kyle had confidence in "Memento"!
He believed that with Page Pictures' current promotional and distribution capabilities, its North American box office data would definitely exceed the $40 million box office in the original timeline.
As the producer, Kyle had a 2.2% share of the film's North American box office revenue.
It was still the same old saying—company is company, individual is individual.
Every script Kyle wrote, every film he produced as a producer, included personal compensation; just like the four American TV series he planned recently, "The Big Bang Theory" and "The Walking Dead," Golden Dawn TV Group also had to give Kyle personal compensation.
At 10 AM that day,
Kyle appeared at Page Pictures.
Today was the casting day for "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
Although Kyle wasn't the producer of this film, he acted as the casting director. After all, with a production cost of less than $5 million, it had remarkably grossed $369 million worldwide and broken the North American romantic comedy box office record.
Such an astonishing return on investment, Kyle naturally couldn't ignore it.
In fact, it could be said he took it very seriously!
