Chapter 13 - Help Us

Although Charles Avenhart was a well-known figure who almost always appeared in San Francisco newspapers, he was notoriously protective of his daughter, hiding her from the media so that no one knew what she looked like.

It was said that he even hired the best tutors to personally educate his daughter at home, so she never had to attend school.

Her friends were handpicked from among exceptionally talented young people, personally brought into her home.

You could say she was raised isolated from the outside world.

Liam wasn't quite sure how to give her commands.

If he told her to help load the pickup truck, it would just result in a scene that shouldn't happen—after all, she still looked stunningly beautiful, with her pale skin.

Fortunately, the pickup was almost full thanks to Zombie Paul working diligently.

"Liam!" Alex and Lisa approached him.

Even though they called out his name, their eyes were fixed on Alice.

They hadn't gotten a clear look at her earlier. Only now could they really see her properly.

Even when they had first spotted her from a distance, no notification had appeared.

And now that she was Liam's servant, such notifications wouldn't appear again.

"Alice," Lisa suddenly said.

"You know her?" Liam couldn't help but ask, not expecting Lisa to know her name.

"I was once invited to her house to be her friend," Lisa replied.

"That's right, I remember you," Alice said while looking at Lisa, causing her to stumble in shock.

"Y-you, you can talk?" she stammered.

"I'm a unique zombie," Alice replied calmly.

"All right, let's head back," Liam said.

He didn't feel safe standing in front of the convenience store for too long, worried that more zombies might show up.

Lisa nodded and quickly got into the cabin of the pickup.

However, Liam himself didn't enter the cabin. Instead, he instructed Alice to get in and sit beside Lisa, while he climbed onto the roof of the pickup along with Zombie Paul to watch over the supplies.

As for the husky dog, he was ordered to run beside the vehicle since there was no more room in the back. The dog was simply too large.

"See you, man," Henry said to Liam as Alex started the vehicle.

Liam merely nodded at him. He couldn't afford to be too friendly, as Henry was still technically a criminal on the run. It was already generous of him not to turn Henry in to the authorities.

On the way back to the school, Liam didn't encounter too many obstacles.

If there were any, it was just from weak zombies. The husky easily tore through them.

Maybe the stronger zombies had already moved elsewhere.

Their movements were always unpredictable.

Soon enough, the pickup arrived near the school.

Coincidentally, they arrived at the same time as the other teams.

There were basically three teams that had gone out.

Each team had gone in a different direction.

Liam saw the second team returning while pulling a metal cart, clearly in a rush, as many of the supplies on top of the cart had spilled onto the road.

They were being chased by a massive horde of zombies and looked too exhausted to fight.

And the third team, which only consisted of Joel and Anthony, came back empty-handed.

They were flying—with Anthony dangling from Joel's legs—and also being chased by a horde of zombies.

The two of them had probably tried to fly directly to their target store, assuming they could store supplies in their Inventory.

Unfortunately, that wasn't possible, and they hadn't found any tools like the second team, which had managed to get a cart.

"Liam, help us!" one of the students from the second team shouted at Liam, who was clearly visible on the roof of the pickup.

"Principal, help us!" Joel and Anthony also shouted, but their plea wasn't directed at Liam.

In a desperate situation, no one was ashamed to ask for help. Still, the two of them probably felt awkward asking Liam directly—after all, there was a silent rivalry between them.

"Alex, keep driving," Liam said to Alex.

Then he jumped down, followed by Zombie Paul and Zombie Alice, who had been inside the cabin.

The three of them ran toward the horde of zombies chasing the second team.

Since they were carrying supplies, Liam naturally didn't mind helping. If it had been Joel and Anthony, he probably wouldn't have bothered.

Of course, since the principal considered Joel and Anthony important, he personally came along with several teachers and students to assist them, leaving the second team to Liam—having been made to unconsciously believe Liam was stronger than they were.

They were surprised to see him now aided by another zombie, and not just any zombie—but a beautiful female one.

Among the zombies chasing the second team, Liam spotted five Level 3 Zombies.

Without hesitation, he charged straight at the five and ordered his two zombies to take care of the rest to keep them from interfering.

These five Level 3 Zombies were similar to what Zombie Paul had been when he first appeared—each had four arms and wielded massive swords made of blood.

But Liam, who transformed his right hand into a Phoenix Wing, soared above them.

Buzz!

His wing slashed downward, unleashing a wave of golden flames that cascaded like a tsunami, swallowing the five zombies at once. The flame's range was impressively wide.

The zombies went berserk, leaping in all directions due to the intense heat, but they couldn't shake the fire off their bodies. It quickly scorched their skin and flesh.

Liam even saw some of them begin to crumble into ash.

Rumble!

He then activated his Earthquake skill, violently shaking the area and cracking several nearby walls. The zombies that had come to aid the burning ones fell to the ground, making it easier for the golden flames to consume them too.

It didn't take long before they all died.

DING!

(You have killed five Level 3 Zombies. You have received 150 Battle Points!)

(Battle Points: 350/400)

This was, of course, Liam's primary reason for fighting. He kept an eye on his Battle Points, and now he was getting even closer to leveling up.

"Hey, hey, where did this snake come from!?" a sudden outburst came from the principal's team, who had gone to help Joel and Anthony.

Luis hadn't expected to hear anything about a snake. When he looked in their direction, he was completely shocked.
