Kenshin decided to leave by tomorrow. It's almost nighttime and his parents along with Tomoko just got home, exhausted and not to mention, their trip didn't bear any fruit. No school is near the outskirts of Tokyo—which is pretty much obvious.
So in the end, Tomoko was left with no choice but to resort to the same school, much to her dismay, and was reluctant to scrap her 'New school, new Me' plan by changing schools.
The next day, Kenshin and Yasaka bid farewell with his parents under the guise of walking Yasaka home including riding on the train.
Once they're away from any prying eyes, a combo magic spell of invisibility and flight takes their figures up in the skies in no time.
The journey from Tokyo to Kyoto would take some time even by flight. Though if Kenshin wanted to arrive there as soon as possible, he could use a teleportation spell however, the farther it is, the higher the mana cost.
If Kenshin were to abide by his Nuclear Fusion Reactor, he should be able to teleport around 5 times before arriving as directly teleporting from Tokyo to Kyoto is way above his current energy capacity.
Minutes passed and during the flight, the two initiated a short but meaningful conversation about their opinions about the world.
"Say, when you mentioned devils and angels. Does that mean Lucifer is real?" This is what has been nagging Kenshin for a while. Since the devils' existence is now confirmed thanks to Yasaka, his mind couldn't help but recall his first encounter with a devil, Okita Souji—who introduced himself as someone under a devil named Lucifer.
"Lucifer? He's real but not anymore. Heard he died from the Great War."
"Wait what? You mean he's already dead? And what's this Great War about?" Kenshin was shocked by the information. If the guy is dead then who is the Okita Souji devil that he served under?
"It's common knowledge for almost everyone in the Supernatural world. The Great War consists of a three-way war between Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels. The war went on for thousands of years and as far as I know, Lucifer and his band of Satans were killed by God himself which won them the war."
"….Wow. Didn't expect the world to have such buried history, huh?" Kenshin felt like the longer he lived, the more he discovered about the complex universe he got reincarnated into.
"Well, there's a tacit understanding between all the supernatural factions to keep the majority of humans in the dark when it comes to them. So aside from certain individuals, high government officials and corporate behemoths, no human knows about devils, angels, gods, and such."
So that's why that Yakuza boss knew about devils and even had some sort of contract, mumbled Kenshin. When he asked her about devil contracts, she answered.
"I've heard about them. I think it's some kind of universal job for the devils, either to steadily increase their strength or standing within the underworld. The more contracts you do, the higher your reputation goes."
Kenshin chuckled, "So basically, like a mercenary work."
"Yup. Just like mercenary work!" Giggled Yasaka.
Their conversation continued throughout the journey, the topics ranging from the supernatural world to Yasaka's daily life as a Yokai princess.
"So, no one wants to play with you just because they're scared of your royal status? What a bunch of idiots." Snorted Kenshin.
He then continued, "If I were a Yokai under your mom's rule, first thing I'll do is to approach you and ask you if you're willing to risk your royal status."
"And why would you ask me that?"
Kenshin grinned as she asked exactly what needed to be asked, "Because that way, I know I'll have a chance to marry you and get away from your royal family and live happily ever after."
Yasaka giggled at his words, "Stop it!"
As their flirting continued in the air, they finally arrived at their destination a few minutes passed.
"Welcome back to Kyoto, Princess Yasaka," Kenshin said with a dramatic flair, acting like a personal servant seen in the movies.
"Oh, why thank you, my dear servant." Yasaka played along, covering her mouth as she giggled.
Just as they enjoyed each other's teasing, their moment was interrupted when three Yokais, one Nekomata, one Tanuki, bearing a dog raccoon-like appearance, and a Tengu, a figure with countless feathers all over his body and a pair of white feather wings on his back.
The three Yokais surrounded them, flanking their possible escape routes.
"Yasaka-sama. Please come with us." The Nekomata stepped forward and politely asked, though it wouldn't be as polite if you knew their intention.
"I know. Let's go, Kenshin." Yasaka coldly nodded her head and grabbed Kenshin's hand.
At first, he thought the Yokais would stop him from coming with them but to his surprise, they didn't.
Which means they also intend for him to come.
Am I about to meet Yasaka's parents and ask for their blessings? Kenshin internally chuckled.
Instead of flying or running on foot, they came across a black can on the road, prompting them to get inside.
Yokais weren't as barbaric as I thought. I thought they're distant against modern technology, muttered Kenshin.
As they went in with the Tanuki on the driving seat, the black van started.
The trip was extremely quiet aside from Kenshin whistling as he stared outside the window.
On the other hand, Yasaka was humming, feeling nonchalant about the entire situation. She knows that as long as she and Kenshin are together, she's confident that even her mother wouldn't be able to stop them.
Half an hour passed and they finally arrived at a place familiar to Yasaka.
What else but her home where she lived for years?
Yasaka clenched her fists, trying to calm herself down.
Meanwhile, Kenshin was closing his eyes, his senses spreading throughout the compound which immediately detected several strong figures.
One of them must be Yasaka's mother, Kenshin assumed. After all, with all the tales that Yasaka told him about her mother, Kenshin has formed Inari as a strong powerhouse in the supernatural world.
"Let's go." The Tengu spoke with an almost emotionless tone before opening the door.
As they all got out and slowly entered the compound, Kenshin noticed that there were more Yokais than he thought.
Is this some kind of family gathering? Kenshin wondered.
When he told Yasaka about this in a whisper, even she was confused as her brows furrowed.
It seems like I was right, this is unusual, Kenshin huffed, preparing himself for the inevitable.
When they got inside, they were immediately met with more Yokais, their appearance varying from Tanukis to Uwamabis.
Are they going in some kind of war or what? Kenshin's lips quivered.
Even Yasaka, who was confident earlier, started to wane.
What is Mother planning with so many Yokais? She asked herself.
When they finally entered the dining room, Yasaka's eyes widened in surprise.
No wonder there were so many Yokais!
"Hello there, Yasaka-sama." It was Fideus, the wealthiest peacock Yokai, sitting on the same table as her parents, who bore a serious look on their face.
"What are you doing here?" Yasaka's face hardened, her tone containing the most toxic venom she could muster.
"Mah~ Mah~ is that how you talk to your future husband? Inari-sama has already sealed the deal, as you can see." Fideus bore a smug expression as he showed the contract paper to her, containing the very signature of her mother!
"Mom…." Yasaka's eyes widened in surprise and anger, when her eyes darted towards her, she saw Inari looking away—as if she was embarrassed to look at her daughter's eyes at this point.
She should be.
"That's why. Come here this instant and greet your husband like a proper wife, Yasaka." Lust filled the peacock's eyes as he licked his lips. His power over the Princess of Kyoto Yokai fills him with excitement. He felt like the most powerful person in all of Japan!
He talks down to Yasaka in front of her mother, the Queen and the latter can't do anything about it!
Giving away Tokyo's Leylines, a power he can barely control, was extremely worth it!
"…No." Yasaka's face turned grim and she gritted her teeth.
Fideus's face turned sour, "What did you just say? To your own husband?" Fideus arrogantly marched forward, his left hand tucked inside his pocket.
"I said no. You are not my husband and never in a countless lifetimes, you dirty peacock." Disgust filled Yasaka's face as she looked down on the shocked peacock.
"Yasaka!" Inari, her mother, finally stood and glared at her daughter.
Why can't she see the advantage that we have? Doesn't she know the great power of a Leyline! A single Leyline could give half the strength comparable to Amaterasu-sama and with two in my possession, I'm already akin to a Goddess! Inari couldn't help but curse her unfilial daughter.
What's wrong with marrying someone? It's just marriage? Afraid to be deflowered by someone you don't love? Isn't she the same? Her mother married her to someone she doesn't love and not one bit did she mind it!
Yasaka didn't answer, she stood still, several emotions swirling inside her eyes. Anger, sadness, regret, and many more.
At the same time, Fideus was finally in front of her, his stretched hand about to touch Yasaka's large bosom, intending to humiliate her and show her how powerless she is in front of him.
However, before his hand could even get a few inches from its destination, a glint of steel flashed in front of everyone's eyes.
Fwoosh!
A fraction of a second, that's what it takes for Kenshin to draw a brand new and stronger Katana from his inventory and slash Fideus's hand, separating it from his wrist.
Splurt!
Only when a second passed that everyone finally reacted.
"Gaaaggrrrgghh!" Fideus screamed in pain, his other hand clutching his newly amputated wrist.
"Get your filthy hands off of her, you goddamn animal!" Anger and just pure unfiltered anger filled Kenshin's face as he looked down on Fideus as if he were looking at dirt.
"Next time, I won't miss and it'll be the head." As soon as he said this, the other Yokais, probably the peacock's personal guards finally reacted, dashing towards with their claws brandished, fangs glinting under the light and their Ki flaring to life.
Even Yasaka was surprised by Kenshin's sudden and reckless decision. However, along with her surprise came a warm feeling blooming inside her chest. Her mother may have abandoned her and sold her, but at least, she found someone who does the opposite.
Kenshin marked every target in the room, his eyes darting left and right.
A second passed and when the nearest Inugami Yokai was a few meters away from him, Kenshin, still looking down on the peacock Yokai, disappeared from his place.
He then reappeared behind the Inugami Yokai, who froze in its place.
Splurt!
A thin red line slowly faded in on his neck before gallons of blood spurted out, painting the marble walls and floor with his red blood.
Kenshin didn't stop there. Countless speed-type runes on his shoes, speed-type spells on his own body, and his new Katana that enhances his speed—Kenshin was like a ghost.
As for every Yokai his blurred figure passed by, thin red lines would appear on their necks, swiftly decapitating them all with ease.
Not even the fastest Yokai, a Nekomata, was able to react against his speed, all met the same fate as the first one.
5 seconds passed and Kenshin finally stopped his onslaught. Not because he's tired but because there's no Yokai left to slaughter anymore.
Aside from him, only four people were left. Inari, with her wide fear-filled eyes, her husband who passed out due to fear, and finally, Fideus with his trembling legs and soaked in piss pants.
And finally, Yasaka, who froze in her place, simply staring at Kenshin's figure, untouched by the blood of his victims.
Her heart starts to beat fast, butterflies flying in her stomach and her cheeks turning hot red.
Kenshin ignored Yasaka's parents, instead, he pointed the tip of his surprisingly clean Katana towards the peacock Yokai and muttered loud enough for everyone to hear.
"You're next, Lord Shen."
"…" Fideus confusedly stared at the nightmare-fueled human in confusion.
Lord Shen? Who the fuck is Lord Shen!?
