Chapter 42 - Colosseum and Festival (I)

In their laboratory, the real Max and Lukas were relaxing their hands—getting a hand massage by a machine. They just finished a coding session that was straight 34 hours of sitting in the same spot.

"Father of light be damned!" Lukas muttered next to Max, "It feels like Paulina chewed on my hands for a straight month."

"Really? My hands already feel better." Max was taking his hands out of the machine which was massaging them, turning it off. Rubbing the skin on the back of his hands he walked over to his computer. He sat down into his chair and looked at Lukas.

"Don't look at the god of this world like that!" Lukas told him smugly.

Max frowned before turning towards his screen: "I made you the god of this world, brother. I'm gonna update the servers now, after one and half a day of coding I want to see the results." His fingers started clicking on his keyboard with record speed.

"No!" Lukas complained, "I want to see it too, but my hands still hurt. Give it 24 hours at least, so we have time to rest and work-out bugs while the simulation's people can get ready for it, like last time. We gave them an announcement earlier instead of just adding the update."

Max stopped writing the update-note and looked back at Lukas. He shrugged with his shoulders before speaking: "While I am a bit impatient, that is a very good idea." He started typing again, extending the update-note and adding the timer. "You want some pizza? Feeling like making one from scratch."

Lukas jumped up, almost ripping the massage machine in two. "Darkness' embodiment yeah! Ouch. Definitely, I am so hungry, I feel like I could eat Paulina…"

Max pressed the enter-key and turned to look at Lukas with a raised eyebrow.

"Well… not Paulina, maybe a whale or something smaller like that." Lukas corrected with a nervous smile. He quickly routed the conversation into a different direction: "You finished the update-note and announced the timer?"

Max left the room, walking out of the laboratory and towards their kitchen: "Yeah, tomorrow around this time, unless we increase the speed at which time flows."

Lukas, knowing the pizza will take an hour at least, sat back down to continue resting. "Nice."

Across Captain Teddy's face on the screen appeared a loud and not kindly taken notification. It covered only her eyes.

UPDATE NOTIFICATION:

"A moment." Captain Teddy said as she saw the notification on the super citadel and turned off the call to announce the update to her own people.

The high priests looked disappointed as her face vanished and the rest of the UPDATE became visible and the Max clones and Lukas clones on the main floor started to move nervously—as the last time the update brought their meeting with the Geddos Alliance.

UPDATE IN 24 HOURS

23:59:59

23:59:58

23:59:57

The entirety of the two connected citadels was quiet. Murmurs and relieved sighs could be heard throughout the crowd. "Yes!" Someone screamed, "That means we can finally eat!"

At these words the crowd erupted into cheering. This meant they didn't have to eat that disgusting astronaut food anymore.

"QUIET!" White One screamed, hitting the railing of the balcony with his fists. "The update is unimportant now! Your eyes were blessed with the permission to lay upon the goddess and you dare cheer more about getting to eat real food than about hearing her voice and seeing her plush little face!" From his mouth spit was flying down and onto the cheering people. "Be quiet or cheer for the goddess!"

He turned away towards the other 11 high priests as the crowd just slightly decreased in volume. "Kill them!"

4 of the 11 high priests take out their weapons, pointing them down the balcony. Light stepped forward, standing face to face with White One. "I knew it was a bad idea getting a Max clone into the high priests."

"What—" As White One tried to grab him, filled with rage at his words, his words stopped dead in his throat before spraying out with liters of blood.

Light was holding a ceremonial sword in his hand. "Trying to replace the prophet, you faithless heathen." He turned away and walked into the door, "Clean this mess up, I will search for the prophet. This fool would never have the ability to kill him." He walked off the balcony and the door behind him sealed off.

Seconds after the door sealed off, at the place where Captain Teddy's transmission had appeared earlier, it reappeared. "Good morning, citadel. My name is Captain Teddy."

Everyone's gazes turned towards him, the cheers having died down a bit.

"I see you all have survived our last meeting." A smile spread across her little lips, "It does fill my heart with joy seeing that my sacrifice was not in vain. Our council has decided against inviting you into our citadel, but I don't give a shit about their opinions. So I am now officially opening up our hangar and inviting you for a Teddy-made festival." A ginormous grin spread across her face as she closed her eyes and the main floor opened up, a bridge having already extended from the super citadel and connected to theirs.

The transmission vanished as she walked out of the light in the tunnel, next to her a Geddos copy with a cape and behind her hundreds of plushies carrying banners and snacks.

The Teddy copies rushed the main floor, starting to decorate the tunnel and the main floor with incredible speed before pushing and pulling everybody across the tunnel and towards the real festival.

The 10 high priests still standing on the balcony simply jumped off, making impressive superhero landings in front of Captain Teddy which quickly turn into kneeling before her. As they lifted their heads to lay their eyes upon her they were crying tears of joy.

The Geddos copy used his paw to count the high priests one by one: "…8, 9, 10! Wait, I heard there were 12 of you guys." He hesitated, "Stop! Don't answer. Am I correct in the assumption that you are those… high priests?"

They nodded. "Light, the leader of the high priests, is with the prophet. And White One… Well, let us say he was being a nuisance." The high priest who spoke looked over to Gray.

Gray quickly went to the front and dropped White One's soul-orb and the supposed soul of the prophet in front of Captain Teddy's feet. "Those are for you! Please accept our devotion."

"This is—"

The Geddos copy interrupted: "What an interesting change of pace this is. You're cleaning the corruption in your own ranks by yourself. I'm just going to take these and hold on to them for a bit." He picked up the two orbs and put them into a small pouch he was carrying. "You can call me… I don't know. You got any idea for a unique name, Captain?"

"How about Logi? It's norse or something like that for fire. How much you like to use fire during your private activities I think it fits." She turned to the high priests, "Does it not?"

"Of course it does! It's perfect, truly!"

"Logi it is." He muttered proudly. He put away his small pouch. Feeling his heart race at the thought of getting a name from Captain Teddy he started to steady his breathing. An idea struck his mind: "I need armor or something to make that name more obvious!" He ran back down the tunnel towards the super citadel, screaming ideas and getting praise from all the Teddy copies running about.

"Oh no!" Muttered Captain Teddy.

All of the 10 high priests received a message. Light had found the prophet and send them the position where to bring Captain Teddy. "Would you kindly follow us, your highness?"

"Sure." Captain Teddy told them.

The 11 of them, Captain Teddy securely in the centre of a circle they formed, slowly walked towards the stairs. The high priests took their time getting her to the prophet, because they wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. Thus they showed her as many interesting places on their citadel before even entering the space between floors.

"Is this…" She started to speak but the words vanished due to her being awestruck at what she saw.

Gray bowed to her. "Yes, this is the colosseum we built in your name."

The colosseum was quite impressive, but that was not what she wanted to ask them. The colosseum was decorated with hundreds of statues of her fighting the Geddos Alliance.
