Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Love Begins

As the words fell,

The two fell silent at the same time.

Rhaenyra's face stiffened, and she quickly lowered her head.

Shame filled her heart.

Aemon was stunned.

He hadn't expected the other party to be straightforward and break through this layer of window paper.

"I, I'll go back first."

Rhaenyra stuttered. She turned around and left quickly.

In that moment, she wished for a crack in the floor to crawl into.

It was so embarrassing!

"Rhaenyra, wait a minute."

Aemon came to his senses and chased after her.

Some things must be resolved once they're said.

Many misunderstandings are born unintentionally.

Obviously, he forgot a law.

When a woman is angry and in a hurry, she moves as fast as a dragon.

It's impossible to catch up with her.

From the open-air corridor to the inner corridor of the Red Castle and finally to the door of the princess's bedroom.

"Princess!"

Cole, dressed in silver armor and white robes, guarded the door and nodded to greet him.

"Stop him."

Rhaenyra gave the order without looking up.

Cole was stunned for a moment when he saw the two people.

Aemon shrugged, his face full of innocence.

Another.

"Hey, did the young couple quarrel?"

A handsome young man with blond hair and blue eyes leaned against the corridor and looked at the boy and girl chasing each other and teasing.

Bang!

Rhaenyra entered and closed the door in one fluid motion.

Then, she turned and leaned against the door, listening to the sounds outside.

"Aemon!"

The silver-haired girl gritted her teeth.

In the corridor, three men stood on either side.

Aemon looked at the handsome blond man and felt vaguely familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen him before.

"I am Galwyn Hightower, the eldest son of the former prime minister and brother of Queen Alicent."

Galwyn introduced himself.

Aemon suddenly understood.

Alicent's brother—no wonder he looked familiar.

"Didn't you return to Oldtown with Lord Otto?"

Cole looked him up and down and stood guard at the palace door.

Galwyn is also famous.

In the tournament in 105 AC, he was knocked off his flying horse by Prince Daemon with a lance.

After that, he became much more low-key.

Galwyn sized him up and said sarcastically, "Sir Cole, hailed by Her Royal Highness the Princess as 'my White Knight,' is indeed handsome..."

"You'd better watch your words."

Cole said coldly.

The two seemed to be natural enemies and started fighting as soon as they met.

Aemon watched from the sidelines, frowning slightly.

Galwyn is known for his sharp tongue, and he dares to say anything.

But is he acting on his own, or is Alicent instigating him behind the scenes?

"White Knight, I'm praising you."

Galwyn slowly stepped forward and stopped one meter away. He teased, "You are of such humble origin, yet you wear a white robe. It is really an honor."

Then, he pointed at Cole's black, curly hair.

The meaning was obvious, just short of being said clearly.

The other person is a humble commoner born in the Dorne frontier and the son of Black Harbor's steward.

Cole was fond of this and controlled his temper. "Sir, this is the princess's bedroom. You should leave."

"Yes, the princess's bedroom with a precious elephant."

Galwyn took a step back and said meaningfully, "I wonder if the White Knight is lonely at night and only uses five fingers to relieve pressure because of his oath."

As soon as he arrived at the Red Castle, he heard rumors flying everywhere.

Daemon's son, Prince Aemon, is the prospective son-in-law of the king.

Or that the princess's white knight is favored and always with her.

"Don't you think so, Your Highness?"

Galwyn seemed to have found some fun and turned around to talk to the quiet, silver-haired boy.

Bang!

As soon as he turned his head, he was kicked in the stomach.

"Are you good at talking?"

Aemon's face was cold, and he was clearly angry.

Ridiculing Cole alone was enough for him; he just watched the fun. But he had to involve the reputation of the royal family. He really thought that, as Alicent's brother, he could do whatever he wanted.

"Ahem."

Galwyn was kicked, rolled to the ground, and coughed hard.

It's not over yet.

Aemon glanced at Cole coldly. He stepped forward, grabbed Galwyn's collar, and lifted him up.

Bang!

Galwyn didn't react as his back hit the wall.

Aemon held him with one hand and gripped his neck with the other, sneering. "Spreading rumors about the royal family makes you feel very accomplished, doesn't it?"

Then, he pressed his arm hard against Galwyn's trachea.

"No, no—"

Galwyn's face flushed red. He put his hands on Aemon's arms but couldn't pry them apart.

Bang!

Aemon kneed him, brought his face close to Galwyn's, and said viciously, "Who asked you to come here so you could talk nonsense!?"

There are no good people in Old Town.

"Hmph."

Galwyn groaned sourly after being injured in the soft part of his abdomen.

He was in so much pain!

What's the situation with the kid across from him? Why did he want to kill him?

"Speak! Speak out!"

Aemon was merciless, raising his elbow and twisting it.

Galwyn screamed and his face quickly swelled up.

"I'll tell you! I'll tell you!"

Galwyn couldn't bear the beating anymore, so he hastily said, "I was jealous of the White Knight's top ranking in that tournament. I heard the rumor and came here to mock him."

"Really?"

Aemon sneered.

"I'm absolutely sure."

Galwyn was flexible and just wanted to get away from trouble as soon as possible.

"Hmph. Get out of here."

Aemon's eyes flashed as he let go, throwing Galwyn to the ground.

He didn't believe a word he said. He was just too lazy to pursue it.

"Sorry, I stained your clothes."

Galwyn wiped the sour water from his mouth and staggered to his feet.

As he passed Cole, he was still being servile. "Come on, White Knight, your future is bright."

Cole clenched his fists, his face as black as the bottom of a pot.

"You should fight back, White Knight."

Aemon glanced at him, walked up, and knocked on the door.

With all the commotion, Rhaenyra must be behind the door.

Dongdong!

There was no response from behind the door.

Aemon rolled his eyes and said, "I'm going back to the Vale. Can you lend me a hand?"

He had seen it all.

Rhaenyra's situation in the huge Red Castle was getting worse and worse.

Otherwise, Galwyn would not have come in broad daylight to ruin her reputation.

Creak!

After a while, the door opened a crack.

"Take it. There is a boat at the Mud Gate."

A small white hand reached out and handed over an exquisite necklace.

Aemon snatched the necklace and said simply, "Thank you."

Then he turned and left without hesitating.

His behavior had already proven his allegiance, so there was no need to waste words.

Just as he left,

The crack in the door opened slightly, revealing a pair of purple eyes.

Rhaenyra was lying by the door, looking at the silver-haired back with radiant eyes.

She had watched the whole process.

Aemon was decisive, and his movements were smooth.

Although his face could not be seen clearly, his silver-gold hair and cold profile still attracted the eye.

This was especially true when he pulled Galwyn up and beat him.

He was lean but strong, with a broad back and a slim waist.

Rhaenyra was fascinated by him, her face flushing: "Aemon seems to have grown up."

He was completely different from the fat little boy she had imagined.

He was a head taller than her with a green face, yet handsome.

Most importantly, he was very brave!

...

On the other hand,

Aemon had no idea that a nymphomaniac was peeping at him. He put the necklace in his pocket and left the city immediately.

Rhaenyra's newly reclaimed fields were all outside the city.

Where should he go to recruit the remaining people?
