Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Alpha's POV

Just like that… she vanished.

A blinding light exploded, flooding the room and forcing everyone to shield their eyes. The foreign words she spoke burned through the air, sharp and powerful, leaving a ringing silence behind. I stood frozen. My wolf was stunned. Everyone was—even my mother.

Some of the maids who had rushed toward her were thrown back by the force. A few were injured badly enough that the doctor had to be called.

She isn't human.

Humans can't do that.

I slowly descended the stairs, my gaze locked on the exact spot where the light had erupted. The floor beneath it was charred black, as if scorched by fire. Around me, guards and maids moved in confusion, tending to the injured.

My mother came to stand beside me, her eyes just as sharp and thoughtful as mine.

I was lost in deep thought.

Could it be…? No. The prophecy said—

When I had locked her away, I'd heard her screams. Her pleas. I had ignored them. Yet my wolf had howled in pain as she cried, as though we were somehow connected. That alone should have terrified me.

But she can't be who I think she is.

Since the Moon Goddess's curse, I had lost the ability to communicate with my wolf the way other werewolves could. I could only feel his emotions—his fear, his anger, his ache. I wished, desperately, that I could hear his voice. Maybe then he would tell me what she truly was.

My mate?

No. That was impossible.

The curse had forbidden that—especially if she were human. But today… today proved she was nothing like I had assumed.

As everyone stared at the blackened floor in confusion, my mother finally broke the silence.

"The words she spoke were from a sacred ancient witch language," she said calmly. "A girl her age, in this century, should not know such things."

I turned to her, raising a brow.

"What are you saying?"

"Follow me."

I rolled my eyes but did as she said. My mother had always been… strange. She was never the same after my father rejected her and took another mate.

My father was a bastard.

Just thinking about him made my blood boil. He had hated me since childhood. He rejected my mother to choose a new Luna and tried to place the son he had with my stepmother on the Alpha throne.

I proved him wrong.

The throne was mine—by right. When I became Alpha, he couldn't bear it. So I banished him and the family he created from the pack.

That was when he cursed me.

When an Alpha curses his own son, the Moon Goddess fulfills it—no matter what. An Alpha is her representative.

I still remembered that day vividly. The disgust in his eyes. The venom in his voice when he spoke the words of the curse—the curse that could only be broken…

"Here we are," my mother said, pulling me from my thoughts.

We stood inside the library, facing an ancient painting of a woman I had never noticed before. My mother smiled—mischievously.

She reached behind the painting and pulled something.

To my shock, the painting shifted, revealing a hidden door.

Stunned, I watched as she stepped inside. After a moment, I followed.

The room beyond was filled with ancient scribblings carved into the walls. Power hummed through the air, old and heavy. I stared in awe.

"I never knew there was a hidden room in the library," I said quietly.
