After roughly three weeks traveling in his regular pace, Hachiman finally saw the outline of what looked like those towers one could see back on Earth in Toronto, Seattle, Berlin and Tokyo, except it was made of wood and had what looked like a flower comfortably sitting at the top, as he approached, he also saw it's massive roots protruding from the ground; the whole tree exuded a feeling of oppression, divinity and overwhelming chakra.
It was so dense that Hachi began to wonder if all his training was worthless; even a fart infused with this much chakra could probably kill him, right?
Putting these messy thoughts aside as he approached the base of the tree, he began to slow down as if looking for something, this was all seen by a certain someone with pale eyes and long hair from kilometers away, she decided to wait and see before acting.
Hachiman faintly felt the feeling of being observed, even though his fighting experience was built bullying inanimate objects and ordinary criminals, his training still got him that Shinobi sixth sense, which together with his strong spiritual power, provided him with acute senses when it came to things like this, especially since Kaguya wasn't hiding her gaze.
After thinking of what to do for a while, he finally decided to be bold while still avoiding the outcome of completely pissing the young Rabbit Goddess off. So he immediately knelt down while performing a deep bow, then proceeded to scream out, "Oh Great Goddess, oh Great Guardian of the Sacred Tree, I have come to request a meeting with you in hopes that you can be the mother of my children!"
When the last part of the declaration came out, Hachiman immediately realized he had been too comfortable around Nobu and started saying what was on his mind without thinking; I mean, he clearly meant to say "in hopes of exchanging some views on the world and chakra" instead.
But it was too late, the "truth" he still thought wasn't how he truly felt had come out, so all he could do was hope a high and mighty Rabbit Goddess wouldn't resort to killing a loving man and would simply reject or ignore him. To his surprise, after nearly 30 minutes, Kaguya finally spoke up and a soothing voice seemed to come from all directions, "Who do you think you are to make such a request, human? I've yet to meet someone else that'd be bold enough to make such a vulgar request, explain yourself right away or leave before you regret it!"
Hachiman didn't quite expect this, it seemed there wasn't as much of a negative reaction as he thought? 'Maybe she thought I was just a lowly human and decided to cut me some slack.' After realizing this, a bold idea appeared in his mind, and after he thought about it, it seemed like he was already destined to do it.
And so he did, he immediately responded to her question by saying, "My Lady, I never meant to offend you, I simply wanted to have a conversation with you in hopes of broadening my horizons, it's just that my true thoughts slipped when I spoke, so please be understanding and forgive me. And considering it has already been said, I will say even more. I have to confess, not long ago, I had a dream where I found this tree, and there I encountered a beautiful and graceful Goddess with an endearing personality, I simply fell in love in first sight, so if you are that Rabbit Goddess, please give me a chance to get to know you." After speaking ridiculous words in an awe-inspiring way, Hachiman felt his heart beat faster as he awaited a response.
Meanwhile, Kaguya was utterly flabbergasted with an imperceptible blush on her face, she never expected such a direct response from a human, but she couldn't find fault with his reasoning, ignoring how suspicious this whole thing is, if he was telling the truth, he would just be asking for her to meet him and give him a chance to get to know her, right? 'Wait! There's no way he's telling the truth in the first place, how could he have dreamt of me? Surely it couldn't be fate... right? Oh, how stupid am I to almost believe a sly human's words, I should just kill him, but I'm also curious about whatever he's trying to do... staying here is boring anyway, I might as well speak to him, he can't do anything to me anyway.'
So she finally responded, "I can respect your directness, human, you can come to the cave behind the tree, I'm in here, and I'll only warn you once, if you dare to overstep your boundaries, don't be surprised by dying at my hands."
And so, Hachiman, no longer as surprised, made his way to the entrance of the cave, there he yelled, "My Lady, we should introduce ourselves, right? My name is Minamoto Hachiman, you may call me Hachi-kun or better yet, just Hachi, previously my life was aimless and I had no dreams, now, my dream is simply to spend the rest of my life making you happy as long as you let me." Honestly, not even Hachiman knew why he was being like this, he swears he has never spouted so much nonsense, especially not this type of embarrassingly direct flirting.
Kaguya was also speechless, did this human do this on purpose or did he perhaps have something wrong with his brain? Even with ger Byakugan, she couldn't tell. But she still said coldly, "My name is Otsutsuki Kaguya, you may call me Lady Kaguya and only Lady Kaguya, also, stop your foolish attempts at courting me human, I'm not interested."
Hachiman finally got a response he expected, but it came at the wrong moment, anyway, now he didn't know whether to double down and jump into the hole he was digging himself or to try and salvage the conversation, but as he started to think about topics he could talk about, he realized that none could salvage the situation and lead it into the direction he wanted, so whether he interpreted Nobu's last advice correctly or not, he decided to go with the flow without hesitation.
"Thank you for accepting me here, Lady Kaguya, even though you may not appreciate my approach or you may be unimpressed with me, or humans in general, please give me a chance, I-" when he turned a corner and saw Kaguya sitting there, he must admit he was actually quite scared, I mean, she looks absolutely terrifying, and her aura is graceful but oppressive like a mountain to anyone, not to mention a weakling like him.
Kaguya noticed his shock at her appearance, after all the Otsutsuki clan is quite different from humans, so it's expected for a regular human to be scared of her, but then she looked more closely, and it seemed something was weird with his body and chakra, she couldn't help but ask, "You, what's wrong with you? Why is your chakra like that?"
"Like what? It might be however it is because of the love I'm feeling for you right now, it feels like something long closed in the depths of my soul opened like a floodgate, allowing me to feel and unprecedented ecstasy and the feeling of true love." He wasn't exactly lying, after finding her appearance strange for a few seconds, he started noticing that his subconscious and his body were reacting quite well to her, so it seemed like maybe pale aliens were his type?
This explanation made even the usually serene Kaguya show an ugly expression, she immediately barked back saying, "What kind of human are you? Spewing so much nonsense about this and that and your love for me, stop deluding yourself, what are you really here for, it can't actually be because you fell in love with me in a dream, right?"
Of course it can't, but he's in too deep to say that, he can clarify things later, but he needs to push his luck right now, as long as he's sincere and doesn't go too far, it seems like she's okay with it, so he lost the last bit of self-restraint and said disgusting words with a straight face, "Although I did have that dream, you're right, it's not the only thing I'm here for, the other thing I'm looking for is actually some of your breast milk... I mean your chakra."
With such a long pause, not even a donkey would believe he misspoke, Kaguya was immediately frustrated, she felt it was too petty for someone of her status to kill a mere human for speaking nonsense after she allowed it, but she also wanted to make sure this idiot in front of her never spoke such nonsense again.
Feeling her inner conflict, Hachiman forgot he won't get reborn if he dies again and said, "Actually, both of those requests hinge on the condition that we get married, so, I know we haven't known each other for so long, your heart's been aching, but you're too shy to say it; deep inside, we both know what's been going on, we know the game and we're gonna play it. And if you ask me how I'm feeling, don't tell me you're too blind to see it; I'm never gonna give you up and I'm never gonna let you down, that's the promise I make you." Hachiman felt like this is the moment he should get that one bronze but super rare achievement notification, reciting Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up in front of Kaguya felt better than sex, not that he had much experience in either one of those anyway.
On the other hand, Kaguya was actually slightly moved by those words, she couldn't believe it, but this human might be saying all these words sincerely from his heart, he even promised to never let her down, was she being too suspicious? 'No! I've seen plenty of human lies in my short stay here, they're no better than my clan, but this guy, he's definitely... unique?'
Kaguya decided to give him a slightly positive response just to see what would happen, she subconsciously became amused by the situation and was starting to find this weirdo not too bad, I mean, who wouldn't like some company from a person that seems to truly love you? So she said, "Alright, ignore everything else, I just don't understand what game it is that we're gonna play, is that a human thing?" She seemed slightly intrigued by the concept.
Hachiman was slightly confused, but then he remembered the lyrics actually had that sentence, and then he felt a little embarrassed to ever tell Kaguya he was actually smart and knew a lot of science and could also use his brain after this, but he still said, "It's whatever game you ever think it is, I just meant we will always know what to do with each other, but if you want we can play some actual games too, I happen to know quite a few..."
The conversation then transformed from the mess it was into a somewhat normal encounter, so Hachiman's ridiculous gambit actually worked to at least break the ice and help him get closer to the Rabbit Goddess.
After playing games for a while, Hachiman felt Kaguya was getting tired of him, but when he was about to leave, she suddenly called out to him and said, "Hey, Hachi, if you want, I can make you a cave on the other side of this hillside, if you want to stay for a while, that is."
Without missing a beat Hachiman immediately accepted the offer, and that's when his future was fated to forever be entangled with that of the Progenitor of Chakra in this world.
