A few days later elder Ming came to deliver Gu Zhi some news.
"Good news, the clan has brought over your share of the ambrosia" elder Ming said. He then handed over a small bottle of the liquid to Gu Zhi.
"Nice, I should be able to hit an A rating with this".
"Yes, you'll probably be able to reach a tier higher with these resources as well" he said as he handed over some materials. "star gazing grass, tranquil heart pills, and an lastly an assortment of monster meat. I tired to get you resources that help your qi foundation out the most. Hopefully this can help you raise another level quickly" he said. "Oh I almost forgot, your brother was emitted into the sect recently. Congratulations it seems like your bloodline is really talented as he scored an 88 on the talent test. The elders of the sect were very pleased".
"An 88, what were his other results"?
"A water element, and a specilization in meditation".
"That's not bad, it seems like he has a bright future".
"Indeed he does, when I get time, I can bring him up to the estate for you if you want".
"That sounds great" Gu Zhi responded.
He then made his way into his own personal room in order to seal himself off from the world to try out the ambrosia. In all honesty he was quite worried about its potency so he brought some water with him to dilute it down. Once he had everything in place he then sat down in a meditative pose.
He took the lid off with care as the scent filled the room. He instantly felt it as the scent was sweet like pie with the intoxication of a full night of drinking. Instantly he had to stop and gather his bearings lest he passes out just from the smell. Once he began to go nose blind to it he carefully poured out a drop into a separate cup and mixed it with some water. Once it was fully mixed he went in for a sip.
'Here we go'.
He took a sip only for his body to immediately drink the rest of the liquid like he was possessed. Before he could process what happened he blacked out in the room.
"*Thud*"!
His head hit the ground as he laid there asleep. He slept peacefully, like a baby in a crib. It wasn't until Gu Xiao barged into the room and saw him that he started to wake up.
"Gu Zhi! Get up! Your brother is here".
"Wha---".
Gu Xiao instantly smelled the aroma as her face drastically changed expersions.
"Did you drink the ambrosia, shit".
She helped him up out of the room and brought him before Gu Mao.
'Keep your cool, just act like everything is fine'.
Gu Zhi could barely keep a straight face as the ambrosia made his face red. He also felt incredibly groggy and it was hard to walk at all.
"Here he is" elder Ming said to a young boy.
Gu Zhi went into the tea house utterly drunk as elder Ming immediately had a look of understanding.
"*Ahem* your brother was cultivating very diligently which caused this current predicament for him. You might not know this, but some medicines and cultivation techniques can cause this sort of them to happen" elder Ming said.
Gu Mao just looked at him and nodded and then went on to stare at his brother.
His brother was very tall, and had blonde hair to him, with grey eyes and a flushed face.
"How's it going Gu Mao everything going well for you at the sect".
Gu Mao was emitted rather late because he wanted to help out his parents. They also didn't want to let go of him so soon as well. Having a child for 5 years and then whisked away, leaves a small bitter hole in the hearts of the parents, especially when they can barely see them afterward.
"Yes, mom and dad want to move in with you because they're very lonely" he said with an emotionless face.
Gu Zhi tried his best to sober up and respond.
"Of course, that sounds like a great idea, if the sect allows it we can surly do something like that... right honey" he asked Gu Xiao.
"Yes, we can host them, it should be no problem".
"That's great, you can send a letter to them immediately, it would be amazing to have them living here."
Gu Mao flashed a rare genuine smile as he instantly went to write the letter.
"I'm sorry I didn't think you'd be in the middle of cultivating the ambrosia, I should have asked first".
"No, that's fine I just didn't realize you'd be here so soon" Gu Zhi said.
"...Gu Mao seems to be a rare genius like yourself... a elder might or clan might soon recruit them into their fold" elder Ming said.
"Can the Gu clan not entice him into our fold?" Gu Zhi asked.
"Well, its not that simple, if we marry him into the Gu clan it might, or rather will be into a different faction in the clan. On the other hand with your recent dowry and resources we've invested into you, we don't have the current capital to compete with other parties. And unlike in your case where we had little to no competition in recruiting you, Gu Mao on the other hand is well known to already be a genius. The elders are just waiting for a chance to snatch him up".
Gu Zhi thought for a moment before responding, "As long as it's not an enemy faction it should be fine. We are all apart of the same sect and if he is able to marry into a different faction, he should be able to squeeze more benefits out of them, leaving some of our benefits for ourselves. As long as he's not marrying into a shitty clan or gets a evil master I think it should be fine. He has the Wu bloodline after all, he is more than capable of handling himself" Gu Zhi said with confidence.
