Chapter 81 - Apprisal

"Say, I heard you mention to me about levels above nascent soul and exploring the cosmos".

She gave him a look. "It's not important to us right now, we just hit foundation establishment, there is a reason why they don't talk to you about it until you've hit nascent soul. Even if you make it to nascent soul only a small minority of the group will be able to advance higher. Why teach of fish how to walk if it will only know how to swim its entire life. Anyway our tea is here."

The waiter then placed their tea on the table, Gu Zhi got green tea while Gu Xiao got hibiscus. Gu Bo started crying as Gu Xiao started to placate the child and feed him. Gu Zhi started to sip his tea as he immersed himself in his own thoughts.

'I wonder how long it will take for me to master the soul enlightenment technique. Should I move on to core formation before or after it. These boons sound like a way to increase your foundation. Should I try and use a ritual to the god that's already responded to me. That might help me out. How should we avoid detection from selling the ambrosia'.

Time passed and after they had their tea they went to the shiny whale.

"Hello how might I help you" a very nice worker asked.

"Yes we were thinking of selling something here at your auction house for the next auction and getting a catalogue of the items that you will have for the next upcoming auction" Gu Zhi said.

"Of course, although I'm certain your aware, we do have standards at the shiny whale so whatever item you might have might not be able to be put up for the next auction".

"We are aware" Gu Xiao responded sternly.

"Then follow me, I will lead you to a private booth, where we can appraise your item".

Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao have already taken some measures. If they had handed over a large amount of divine brew and said they only wanted to sell a little bit of it then they would for sure be robbed during the night. They had transferred a small amount of the ambrosia to a different gourd prior to coming to the city. Just from the smell it had when they opened it they were sure it was the real deal.

They moved deeper into the establishment, it was quite the building, most of the room was dedicated to the auction hall will their were adjacent rooms for other purposes: such as appraisal. They entered one room with an old man siting at a desk with trinkets and gadgets around him.

"What have you brought for appraisal" the man said excitedly.

Gu Zhi can easily imagine how exciting it would be to have a job like this, especially from the best auction house in the city.

Gu Xiao looked over to the attendant. "I'm sorry but secrecy is very important for us, do you guys have any guarantee to hide our identities".

"Of course we do" she said as if a little bit offended. "Our auction house will keep the full confidentiality of our clients if they so choose to remain confidential".

"That's great, then we want to remain anonymous in both selling and buying".

"That's fine as long as the the thing you are selling is worth that mu-".

She was cut off as Gu Xiao placed a small cup on the table. Like a little jar it barely had any liquid in it and it was covered up by a lid. Although they wanted a better container, beggars can't be choosers. This clearly wasn't the best way to store the nine heavens ambrosia but it was the best one they had at the current moment.

The old man seemed to jolt awake as he was growing bored of the talk about confidentiality. He quickly took it in his hands and gently opened the lid.

"I would advise against taking big whiffs" Gu Zhi said.

The old man listened to him and wafted the smell towards him as he revealed what was inside. It looked like liquid gold, pure and refreshing. Just a scent could turn someone drunk, while those who imagined themselves drinking it, they could only imagine the taste to be heavenly.

"It's nine heavens ambrosia, one of the 3 divine wines. Known for its ability to make immortals drunk and its effect on the body."

The worker was silenced as the old man inspected the liquid with a passion. He did test after test, using tools he checked how much qi the liquid held, its temperature, effects and more. It took a while before he sat back down in his chair and huffed.

"Although I haven't seen a divine wine before this, if all my tests, eyes, and everything else deceives me... than I am sure that this is the famous nine heavens ambrosia".

The worker immediately changed her tune "dear guests, if you sell this at our next auction we will give you VIP seats and credit to spend with that equals the minimum bid on this item, to use for other items that catch your fancy".

"That sounds great we would appreciate it" Gu Zhi said.

They then went through a process of checking in their item, getting a catalogue, and a jade slip that will secure them a VIP seat the next time they go to the auction, and to collect their reward at the end of the auction.

With a month left until the auction Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao still had some things to do as they headed to the nearest hotel to get some rest and talk about future plans.
