Chapter 21 - Chapter 14

The campers and counselors went to the mess hall, and Carter made them pancakes for breakfast. Once they got their pancakes, Carter served himself his breakfast and sat down with the rest of the campers and counselors. Once they finished eating, Cleo took all the kids into the woods to go spelunking. Once they arrived at the cave Cleo was taking them to, Cleo gave each camper a mining helmet and instructed them to turn on the lights on their helmets. Then they all walked into the cave and explored it. While exploring the cave, the campers stayed close to Cleo so they wouldn't get lost. Cleo said, "Quiet." Ben whispered, "Why?" Cleo pointed up, and when they all looked up, they saw bats sleeping on the ceiling.

Cleo whispered. "If we make loud sounds, we could spook the bats." Cleo and the campers quietly walked through the cave, trying not to make a sound. Then Ben's nose started to itch, and he began to get the urge to sneeze. Ben said, "A-A." Cleo and the other campers heard Ben about to sneeze, turned around, and tried to stop him. Gwen ran up to him and covered his mouth before sneezing so he wouldn't make a sound. Ben's urge to sneeze disappeared, and Gwen took her hand off his mouth when his tickle disappeared. Then Ben sneezed, and his sneeze echoed off the cave walls, spooked the bats, and woke them up. Then the bats flew around in the cave, scaring Cleo and the kids, and Cleo and the kids ran out of the cave screaming while the bats chased them. Cleo said, "Nice work, Ben." Cleo and the campers returned to camp while the bats went to find someplace safe and quiet. Then the campers returned to camp and hid in the girls' cabin. Once they arrived, they slammed the door shut, took a deep breath, and calmed down. Then they put the spelunking gear away and went to the mess hall for lunch.

Once they arrived at the mess hall, they saw the place in disarray, with claw marks everywhere, and nearly all their food left on the floor. Justin said, "What happened?" Timmy said, "Maybe a bear got in here and ate all our food." Alex looked at the teeth marks on the table and saw they were too big and vicious to be made by a bear. Alex said, "A bear? More like a dinosaur." Cleo said, "A man-eating dinosaur based on these teeth and claw marks." Then they started to hear growling from the kitchen, and when they went in, they saw a giant beast eating the garbage. Once it saw the campers and counselors, it threw away the trash and went after them. Then the campers and counselors ran for their lives, but the beast grabbed Lina. Once he did, he put her over his shoulder and carried her away. Sally said, "Well, Lina's a goner." Timmy said, "We can at least try to save her." Gwen said, "Sure, if we live long enough."

Before they left, the power in the mess hall went out. Then Cleo saw something move on the ground. Cleo pointed ahead of her and said, "I saw something move." Timmy took out his phone, turned on the flashlight setting, and looked around for whatever Cleo saw, but he didn't see anything. Timmy said, "There's nothing there." Timmy turned off the light, and Cleo saw something with glowing red eyes move again. Cleo pointed ahead of her and said, "There it is again." Sally said, "Relax, it's probably just a few rats." Cleo saw a bunch of glowing red eyes, all moving toward her. Cleo said, "Those are not just rats." Timmy cast his light at Cleo and saw a bunch of shadow rats piling up on Cleo while she screamed. Timmy tried to save Cleo, but by the time he got to her, the shadow rats had completely piled over her and pulled her into the shadows. Timmy said, "Well, there goes Cleo."

After Cleo disappeared, the lights came back on, and the remaining campers and counselors opened the refrigerator to see if that beast had left them any food for their lunch. Marcia said, "Well, that beast didn't leave us much, but at least he left us some leftover pizza to heat up in the microwave." The remaining campers and counselors each took a few slices of the leftover pizza, heated them in the microwave, and then sat down on the floor to eat, as their tables had been destroyed. Once they finished eating, they gathered and looked around the camp. Carter said, "You guys go look around the camp and see if you can find anything. I'll stay here and prepare dinner for us."

Everyone except for Carter left the mess hall and looked around the camp. Justin said, "Everyone, come with me, and don't act so scared." Timmy said, "We are not scared." Justin said, "You are so; you guys scream like banshees whenever you see a ghost, monster, or anything else scary." The remaining campers and counselors walked across the camp and saw giant footprints. Ben got on the ground and took a closer look at the prints. Ben said, "Maybe these are bear tracks." Marcia looked at them and said, "These look a little big to be a bear. Also, there's one thing that puzzles me." Alex said, "What's that?" Marcia said, "Bears are four-legged animals, but a two-legged one made these." Then they began to hear growling and rustling from the bushes in the forest. Sally then took a giant stick off the ground, walked up to the bushes, moved them away, and didn't see anything behind them. Then she turned around and saw a giant monster behind them. Sally said, "Well, we know what made those footprints." Timmy said, "I'm on it." Timmy ran up to the monster with the book, but the beast pounded the ground, and Timmy dropped it, and the book slid away while Timmy fell in the mud. Timmy said, "No." The monster then ran for the book and tried to get it. Timmy yelled, "Don't let it get the book." Marcia threw a badminton racket at the book and knocked it away from the monster before he could get it. Then Marcia raced for it, but the beast grabbed her and tried to eat her. Marcia screamed because she was about to be eaten, but Ben ran up to the book, grabbed it, and ran up to the monster. Once he did, he opened the book, and the beast started to glow green. Then the monster was sucked into the book before he could eat Marcia, and Marcia fell to the ground. However, Ben caught her in his arms and saved her. Marcia said, "Thanks, Ben." Ben said, "You're welcome."

After getting rid of the monster, the remaining campers and counselors heard a scream from the kitchen. Gwen said, "That was Carter; he needs our help, come on." The remaining campers and counselors rushed to the kitchen and saw that Carter was gone, but he had left his hat behind. Then they found a message on a fogged-up mirror. Alex pointed at the mirror and said, "Look, someone left a message." Marcia said, "It says, 'Carter isn't with us anymore.' I have taken him away just like your other friends. Zeke Lakewood." Then they all started worrying, and many ghosts appeared in the kitchen. Then the remaining campers and counselors ran out of the kitchen, screaming while the ghosts chased them.

The ghosts chased them all to the camp bus, and they climbed aboard. Once they boarded, Marcia started the camp bus and drove them toward the camp exit. Marcia said, "We are so out of here." While she was going, the camp bus played scary music, and its headlights started to glow green. Then the remaining campers and counselors got strapped in, and the camp bus drove them out of the camp on its own. The remaining campers and counselors started panicking and saw where the bus was taking them. Then the haunted camp bus crashed into the camp entrance, set itself on fire, and the fire spread to the remaining campers and counselors. The fire then advanced to the camp and burned the campground down, but all the ghosts and monsters took shelter in the woods and hid there. When the fire department arrived, they extinguished the fire, loaded the remaining campers and counselors into ambulances, and transported them to the hospital. Once they arrived, the doctors ran a few tests to see if they were dead or alive and figured out that the fire that burned down the camp had killed them. Since they were all dead, the doctors called their families and broke the news to them. Once their families found out, they were all heartbroken and cried. Then their families buried them in the Camp Lakewood cemetery with all the other people who died there, and had funerals for all of them.
