Chapter 314 - Purify

The minute before Kayle received that mental message was precisely the moment Aiden, after beheading Cho'gall with his sword, immediately launched a full-force attack on Archbishop Benedictus of the Twilight's Hammer.

The silver-white Judgment in his hand, with unstoppable power, broke through all restraints and obstructions, directly piercing Benedictus, who had been completely abandoned by the Holy Light.

The Archbishop of the Twilight raised his staff, casting a black-purple shield on himself, but even he himself doubted that such a shield could withstand Aiden's attack. In desperation, he even raised his staff to try and parry.

How could a wooden staff possibly block a divine weapon like the silver-white Judgment?

"Crack," the sword tip struck the center of the staff's wooden handle first. This legendary staff did little to reduce the speed of Aiden's sword.

In the slowed-down flow of time, Benedictus could clearly see Aiden's every action. When the staff and sword tip collided, the staff bent slightly, then the front half was pierced by the enormous force, and the remaining back half slowly burst into countless wooden splinters before breaking completely.

The sound of the staff breaking clearly entered his ears, as crisp as snapping a dry twig.

Then the divine sword, burning with clear blue flames, slowly pierced through the few pieces of wood that were beginning to burn, striking the Shadow Shield at an undiminished speed.

Benedictus had hoped that this shield could protect him, but after Aiden easily stripped him of the Holy Light's power, he was very clear that this was just wishful thinking.

His wishful thinking did not come true. The holy flames emitted by the sword tip immediately burst into even brighter light upon encountering the Dark Shield, as if adding fuel to the fire. The shield, which should have been very solid and capable of blocking the attacks of many powerful heroes, quickly developed a gap under the piercing of this burning holy sword, and then the entire sword tip quickly penetrated through.

At this moment, Benedictus suddenly hated why his thinking speed had not been similarly slowed down in the decelerated flow of time.

This strike, under normal time flow, should have been completed in the blink of an eye, but now the entire process was stretched out more than ten times.

Benedictus could clearly see every detail of his impending impalement. After the Shadow Shield was pierced, he was even more aware that his final moment was about to arrive.

This was truly a great torment, and his soul was enduring unimaginable fear.

Benedictus knew that whatever he did now, Aiden would not let him go, because he knew he was deeply sinful and could not be forgiven.

His only prayer now was for his death to come quickly.

"Please!" Benedictus cast a pleading look at Aiden.

Aiden could see what the other was praying for. He knew how painful it would be for the other party to know that his death was inevitable under this slowed-down time flow.

What was originally a quick beheading had become a slow slicing at this moment—that was probably the feeling.

His original intention was to give Benedictus sufficient punishment. Given the sins he had committed, even a punishment ten times heavier would not be excessive.

The Old Gods were the enemies of everyone, and the members of the Twilight's Hammer who served the Old Gods should of course be treated the same way.

However, when Aiden saw the pleading in the other's eyes, he suddenly felt that he didn't need to do this. Mentally "slicing" a death row inmate would not gain him anything. He was not a judge, and making such a judgment was meaningless.

The flow of time instantly returned to normal, and Aiden's sword was as fast as lightning.

With a muffled "thud," the sword tip pierced Benedictus's heart.

The suddenly erupting holy flames devoured the Archbishop of the Twilight's body. He revealed a look of relief, and after a breath, he turned to ashes.

Aiden retracted his sword and turned to face the third enemy, the mutated Loken. He mobilized his energy and chased after Loken, who was preparing to escape.

Killing it would attract the observer Algalon to descend, and then the Old Gods would surely be thrown into disarray.

Aiden confirmed from the memories of Yogg-Saron that he had analyzed that the other party really didn't want to see the observer format and reshape this planet.

Although all the Yogg-Sarons on the web-like timeline were ultimately influenced by a unified will, each clone hoped that it would be the first to complete the End Time and rule over the other clones.

Yogg-Saron on Aiden's timeline certainly had the same idea. It didn't want to die before it could even start, and then wait for another Yogg-Saron to complete the counterattack against the Pantheon and pollute the entire universe, and finally be merged by another version of itself.

Just as he was about to launch an attack, he suddenly noticed that strange changes were taking place in Cho'gall's corpse. This two-headed ogre had clearly died after being beheaded by Aiden, but Cho'gall's body, after being transformed by C'Thun's heart power, had become different from ordinary people.

His body began to rot rapidly. Dozens of bizarre eyeballs on his gray-black skin all sprouted tentacles, slowly wriggling, twisting, and drilling out of the black, rotten flesh, growing rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Only a small portion of C'Thun's power essence had been transformed within Cho'gall's body. After the host's death, these eyeballs, carrying C'Thun's power, directly absorbed the essence from the corpse, instinctively wanting to parasitize other bodies.

Aiden saw that Yogg-Saron's stomach pouch was contracting, and the folds around Cho'gall's corpse were constantly wriggling, as if to devour these dirty things.

"Could it be that Yogg-Saron wants to absorb the power in these eyeballs? Can it gain C'Thun's abilities as a result?" Aiden couldn't help but make such a guess.

The memories he had analyzed from Yogg-Saron's mental attacks did not include the part where the Old Gods could devour each other, but when he thought of the civil war between the Old Gods tens of thousands of years ago, he immediately felt that this guess might be the truth.

Otherwise, why would Yogg-Saron and C'Thun join forces to fight against the most powerful N'Zoth? They were clearly in the same camp, with the same enemies, but such a fierce infighting occurred.

Aiden guessed that this might be the biggest reason!

In any case, he couldn't allow Cho'gall and C'Thun, whom he had painstakingly killed, to strengthen another enemy in this way!

At this time, he was very close to the mutated Loken. If he abandoned this guy and instead went to destroy C'Thun's tentacles with eyeballs, he would likely lose both.

Whether or not he killed Loken would not substantially affect Yogg-Saron, but if these eyeballs of C'Thun were really absorbed by it and gained some of C'Thun's abilities, this evil god would definitely become even more powerful!

So, abandon Loken and turn around to eliminate those evil eyeballs?

No!

Aiden didn't do that. Instead, while charging, he raised the Staff of Time, and after casting acceleration on himself, he charged towards Loken even faster!

Yogg-Saron couldn't guess whether Algalon would really reshape the entire world after descending.

According to what it had seen on other timelines, it might still think that there was a high probability that these mortals could stop Algalon, but on this timeline, it was not certain.

Because the leader was Aiden!

The Old Gods had never seen such a character on other timelines, a human who clearly possessed some Titan authority.

If Aiden's thinking was biased towards the Titans, maybe he would really initiate the apocalypse!

What was even more terrifying was that N'Zoth had confirmed that Aiden had the authority to open the Emerald Dream. If he transferred the mortals to the Dream and then started reshaping, it would be even worse!

This was not impossible, because in Outland, Aiden had reshaped Northrend in this way.

The Old Gods of Northrend had existed before the Titans went there. Reshaping the world would at most cause it to lose some power, but it was already in the blueprint anyway.

But Yogg-Saron was different. This batch of Old Gods had descended and polluted Azeroth after the Titans established the laboratory and transformed the world. Once reshaping was initiated, they would all be annihilated.

Observing Aiden's actions, Yogg-Saron could no longer care about absorbing C'Thun's eyeballs, but immediately poured its strongest power into Loken's body.

But that was not enough.

Aiden's speed was so fast that the clumsy Loken could not escape at all.

He spread his Wings of Holy Light behind him, soared high, directly leaping to the top of Loken's head, and then, with both hands gripping the sword hilt, he fiercely stabbed down!

Holy fire burned fiercely all over Aiden's body. He looked as if he was bathing in holy fire. The blue flames on the blade and the golden light all over his body complemented each other, and the scorching, holy aura caused Yogg-Saron's stomach pouch to feel as painful as if it were pierced by countless needles.

This was an incomparably mighty sword. Yogg-Saron knew that with the energy that the mutated Loken could currently contain, it was almost impossible to cope with such an attack.

"No, Loken cannot die!" Yogg-Saron cried out in anger.

"This is my servant!" it roared in its mind.

Just as the mutated Loken opened its defensive shield, a barrier exuding a chaotic aura suddenly appeared outside its body. Its appearance was like the barrier that shrouded the giant pit in Yogg-Saron's lair before.

This was Yogg-Saron's strongest defensive spell. When it existed, it was almost immune to all attacks!

Aiden's unstoppable sword heavily stabbed onto this magical barrier. The enormous energy was injected into the barrier through the sword tip, and the erupting power caused it to dent a large piece, like a finger pressing on a balloon.

In that instant, Aiden thought he had almost pierced the barrier, but in the end, he was just a little short. When the barrier dented to the extreme, an extremely terrifying rebound force was transmitted to Aiden through the sword tip.

"Hmph, overestimating yourself!" Yogg-Saron shouted wildly. Forcibly using this kind of barrier, and still inside its own body, was a heavy burden for Yogg-Saron. But it had to do so.
