Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: The Sister’s Redemption

Scene 1: Shackles fallen

The Guild infirmary is filled with faint golden light as healers rush to stabilize Tiffany, who remains trapped in an eternal slumber after the battle. Katherine sits by her bedside, her hands trembling. The silence in the room is heavy, broken only by the beeping of the monitor beside Tiffany's bed. Katherine blames herself for failing to protect her. The others—Jeremiah, Lyra, and Leo—stand behind her, bruised and drained from the war against Leonard. They exchange worried glances, none daring to speak the thought forming in all their minds: Tiffany might never wake again.

Scene 2: Repentance

Outside the Guild, a strange disturbance ripples across the barrier. The guards rush to arms, sensing an immense Obsidian energy approaching. Katherine storms out with her team, power flaring. Standing at the gate, cloaked in black and silver, is Veronica. Her eyes glow faintly violet, but her aura feels different—calmer, more human. The others react instantly, blades drawn. Katherine's voice is cold and sharp as she demands to know what Veronica wants. Veronica raises her hands and says she came not to fight, but to save Tiffany.

Scene 3: Veronica's Resolve

Tension erupts. Katherine calls her a liar, recalling the countless lives she destroyed. Lyra warns Katherine to sense her energy carefully. Katherine focuses her mind and, for the first time, senses no trace of the beast that once controlled Veronica. Still, her distrust remains. Veronica steps closer, pleading for a chance. She reveals that the control of the Obsidian Beast was severed when Leonard died, freeing her from the curse that bound her will. Katherine refuses to believe it, calling it another manipulation. Veronica lowers her gaze and speaks softly about her guilt, how she remembers every life taken under her hands, every scream. Then she looks at Katherine and says she owes her one last act—to heal Tiffany.

Scene 4:Heroes are Recognized

Marcus arrives, his presence halting the tension. He stands between his sister and Katherine. His voice is steady but heavy with emotion. He explains that what Veronica says is true, that Leonard's death shattered the ancient bond linking her to the Beast. Marcus reminds Katherine that forgiveness doesn't mean weakness, that sometimes redemption begins with trust. Katherine's eyes soften, torn between rage and hope. Veronica steps forward, placing a trembling hand over Tiffany's body. The air glows faintly with black and gold light as she channels her restored healing power. The dark energy surrounding Tiffany fades slowly, her fingers twitching. Everyone watches in silence as Tiffany finally opens her eyes and whispers Katherine's name.

Katherine falls to her knees, tears welling in her eyes. She looks at Veronica, whose expression is calm but sorrowful. Veronica turns to leave, whispering, "My debt is paid." Marcus watches her go, knowing this is not the end. Katherine touches Tiffany's hand and glances back at him. Marcus looks out the window, the last trace of his sister's aura fading into the night, and says quietly, "She's free now."

As things began to cool of, Katherine looking tired, collapsed from exhaustion and was rushed into the infimary.

The next few days were a blur of silence the world was finally free from the ruin and chaos of the obsidian king who fell in the hands of Katherine Vance as everyone across the world now respects her heroic Act and decided to honor her by declaring that very day as a holiday to remember Katherine's act of bravery.

Katherine tried to sit up but felt a sharp pain in her chest. Ezra was sitting in a chair near her bed, his face pale but relieved.

"Easy," he said softly. "You've been unconscious for two days."

She blinked, her lips dry. "Leonard?"

Ezra's eyes met hers. "Gone. Not a trace left."

Katherine exhaled slowly. Her fingers trembled. "Then it's finally over."

Ezra nodded. "For now."

She turned her gaze toward the window. The morning sun rose over the Guild compound, painting the clouds in soft gold. The world looked calm again. She could almost believe peace had returned.

But then, a faint tremor ran through the floor. The monitors flickered. The lights dimmed for a heartbeat before returning to normal. Ezra frowned. "An aftershock?"

Katherine felt something colder—a whisper in her mind, distant but real. A presence stirring in the dark.

In the depths of space, far beyond Earth's orbit, a shard of crimson light floated in silence. It pulsed once, taking the faint outline of a humanoid form.

Leonard's voice echoed faintly. "Even in death, the storm remains."

The shard dissolved into shadow.

Back on Earth, Katherine's eyes opened wider. The golden light in her pupils dimmed. "It's not over," she whispered.

Outside, the first breeze of a new dawn swept across the ruins of the battlefield. The light had returned—but with it came the promise of another war waiting in the dark.
